Group Analysis
The group was able to gain knowledge about the PERT and CPM. The PERT is an abbreviation for Program Evaluation and Review Technique and CPM is an abbreviation for Critical Path Method. Part of this history is that these two were developed independently in the later part of 1950’s which are known as networks. The concept was formulated by the search team and is then called Program Evaluation and Review Technique, which is simply called PERT. CPM is designed as a tool for planning, scheduling and control of Construction work which emphasizes the work activities to be managed. The founders of CPM were J.E Kelly of the Remington Rand Corp. and M.R. Walker of Du Pont from 1956 and by 1958, CPM in application was demonstrated in a real success. There were three (3) phases of PERT/CPM namely planning, scheduling and control monitor. Planning is defined as determining the relationship between the work operation and the sequence in which they are to be performed. Planning is done by day date table converting working days into calendar days which permits the inclusion of weekends, holidays, weather and other time lost. And last, control monitor means flexibility and updated re-computations brought about by changing conditions is the key to a successful network programming. PERT and CMT has what is so called the Output Phase. It consists of Time Status Report, Revised Schedules, Revised Bar Charts, Revised Resource Analysis, Revised Cash Floor Prediction and Cost Status Reports.
And lastly, there are 3 Major reasons for Construction Failures. The first is, unbalanced organization due to lack of planning and scheduling. Next is Lack of financial planning. And lastly, Poor cost control
