Voice of the Martyrs Dominggus is a young man on fire for God. One morning Dominggus is dragged from his bed and beaten. The beating goes on for several minutes, during which he hears the men cry out “we will allow the women to live, but the men must die'. Soon after Dominggus is struck in the back of the neck with a sickle. The men think he finished so they leave him for dead. Soon after

paramedics show up and pronounce him dead on arrival. Dominggus states that during this time he could see his own body laying on the ground and the paramedics arguing about which morgue to take him, because they didn't know if he was Christian or Muslim. Dominggus says next he heard God say “It is not time for you to serve me here”. Dominggus then says he returns to his body to answer the para-

medics. In shock they hear the young man say “I am a Christian”. Dominggus lived by the grace and power of God. Since then he has fully recovered and forgiven those who tried to kill him. Everyday he serves God until it is time for him to serve God in Heaven.

Love : written by Nick Deford Love. One word. Plus at least forty synonyms. We use this word quite loosely sometimes. "I love pizza!"--"I love watching football."--"I love Green Day." But isn't that a pretty good stretch of the word love? After all, Jesus said: "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." You can read this in the book of John, chapter 15 in your Bible. Who would give up their life to watch football or eat pizza, or even eat pizza while watching football? Not me. But this is the kind of love that Jesus demands from us. In fact, He takes it a step further than that when He says "This is the

most important," Jesus answered: Listen, Israel! The Lord our God, The Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these." Many times in our life, we are tempted to treat love as a cheap thing, to use it for our own benefits, and not care who it hurts. This, however, is

not love at all. It is selfishness and pride. Jesus asked, no, demanded that our love be so great that not only do we love God and others the same way we love ourselves. He said that the greatest kind of love was the kind where the lover gives up their life for their beloved. Not too much after saying this, Jesus gave His life up for you and me. At the Hendersonville Nazarene Church, we have a couple of mottoes: "Be the Change" and "Loving God; Serving Others". Use the love that Jesus has given you to serve those you meet this week and Be the Change in this world.

Movie of the Month: Caroline Coraline is a horror film made for kids. When the bestselling book debuted in 2002, The New York Times called it "one of the most truly frightening books ever written." It is directed by the same guy that did The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach. It is about a little girl (voice of Dakota Fanning) who isn’t happy about her home life. She is bored and feeling neglected. She decides to enter into a parallel world with better versions of her parents. She thinks the grass is greener on the other side. In this world she can play all day, eat lots of food, and get lots of attention from her parents. To stay in this world she has to replace her eyes with buttons. This frightens Coraline

and she decides to flee. Her “other mother” kidnaps her real mother and demands Coraline to return. Coraline decides to risk both body and soul to save those she loves. Sometimes we think the

grass is greener somewhere else, the other side. We fail to see what we have right in front of us. Life can be creepy, spooky and full of darkness but if we look around, be the light we are

called to be, then we’ll see what life is all about and what we really have. Think about these questions when you go see this one: 1. Is Coraline just asking for trouble? Is there such a thing as being too adventurous for one's own good? 2. What does the phrase "Be careful what you wish for" mean to you? Can you think of some times you got what you wished for and it turned out that you now wish you hadn't? 3. In what ways does the "Other Mother's" seduction of Coraline remind you of similar tactics used by Satan to trip up believers? Written by Patrick Ballard

The Long Lost Mission Field! .Most people think of missions in other countries, because lets face it we are better off than them. Right? When we think of missions we generally think of going to another country and giving or providing something they don't have and badly need. Well I think we need to take a long hard look in the mirror guys.

Did you know that the United States is now considered a

mission field. Some Church’s in Africa and other various

countries around the world have begun to send missionaries to the states in order to restore our Spirituality. Now this is going to sound selfish, but I think we need to stay in our own yard. Lets face it how can we spread God to other countries when He is fading from our own. This month lets take a stand and spread the Word in our Yard.
