Statement of the Problem This paper aimed to investigate the knowledge of the respondents on the implementation of strengthening juvenile justice system in the Philippines or the lowering of criminal responsibility. Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions:
1. What is the level of awareness of the students on the implementation of juvenile justice act? 2. What are the sources of the students’ knowledge on the juvenile justice act? 3. What are their perceptions on the provision?
Significance of the Study This study is helpful to the following groups of people. This study will showcase the awareness and the perception of the students regarding to the provision, and the sources of information where they obtain. Furthermore, this study will provide a vision to the students and how they will give solutions to the issue. To the political science students and other disciplines, this study can be applied to future projects or researches to present new ideas or knowledge in strengthening the juvenile justice system in the Philippines.
To the University, they can adopt this study to educate the students in implementing this Bill through symposiums, seminars, and etc. and to give awareness and get their perceptions on this provision. To the Local Government, through this study, they will be guided in formulating the provision designed to the lowering of criminal responsibility by knowing the perception of the youth and their awareness. It may be a great help to fortify the juvenile justice system. Other researches, this study will become a good reference for further research and will encourage them to examine deeper on the issues which are related to this study.
