God is Consciousness By Anthony J. Fejfar, B.A., J.D., Esq., Coif © Copyright 2009 by Anthony J. Fejfar In the Summa Theologica, Thomas Aquainas states that God is Spirit. Another way of putting this is that God is Consciousness, as Such, or Suchness. This is consistent with what I have stated before, in that God is Translucent Substance, or Pure Consciousness.
Now, one might argue, wrongly, that if God is Consciousness, then God
will go out of Existence. In fact Substance is the very Metaphysical Quiddity upon which the Real is based. Substance is Real and therefore God as Pure Consciousness is Real. Since God is the Unmoved Mover and the Uncaused Cause, Ex Nihilo (Out of Nothingness) it is clear that God not only Exists but Subsists without the requirement of an outside cause or movement. God is the Tao of Being, Logos, and Substance, The Silent God of Pure Consciousness. This God is what Ken Wilber describes as “Uncreate[d] Spirit.” As the Jesuits say, “Ad Majorem Deo Glorium,” that is, “To the Greater Glory of God.”
