Gymnastics Michiana Booster Club Minutes Date: September 16, 2009 Meeting called to order by Mark Marchi at 7:40 p.m. Meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m. Minutes submitted by Corrie Klimek 1. Meets a. New meets posted – check the board b. Joy’s is the first meet & Amy Jo is attending although not coaching 2. Directory was emailed 9-16-09 3. Treasurer’s report - Ana Han passed out financials (attached to email version of minutes). 4. Fundraising a. We are truly trying to make the most of our fundraising opportunities and be sensitive to the amount of fundraising we’re asked to do from schools & other activities b. The annual obligation is most likely going to change c. Hacienda fundraiser = no total as of yet d. Peelers fundraiser = see attached email for clarification of fundraiser e. Annual fundraiser i. Emily Paul addressed group regarding the poinsettia sale (it’s really not very profitable) ii. Banner fundraising activity will still occur. Banner forms are on the bulletin board iii. Alternatives to poinsettias are: 1. pie sale and candle sale -more information is forthcoming 2. Parent suggestion – cookbook fundraiser f. In addition, the gym will be hosting some type of fundraising event every session – most likely one of the restaurant events (similar to Hacienda & Max & Erma’s) 5. Committee sign-up sheet is posted – there are currently 7 spots open. Please consider volunteering. 6. Parent question: what does the club do when a family does not fully participate in fundraising, committees, meets, etc? They are classified as a non-participating member and to compensate pay additional dues. See the club bylaws for more regarding this topic. 7. a. Boys club purchased TIVO as a training/coaching aid – the boys really find it useful and the girls think it would be as well. Amy Jo expressed interst in such a device for the girls team. Currently they are on sale for $120 at Best Buy. We would require the TIVO, TV, and camera b. Would the parents be willing to help answer the phone in the evenings? 8. Amy Jo addressed the parents a. Practices are going well b. The mock meet went pretty well – no surprises c. Consistency with the girls will happen as the season progresses d. Lisa Poe is now a Lev 3 – 6 judge e. USAG cards are typically late in arriving – don’t worry it will come in the mail & no worries if you do not have it before the first meet
