Get Goosebumps Writing Contest OFFICIAL RULES

CONTEST: Goosebumps Horrorland Webcast Contest SPONSOR: Scholastic Inc., 557 Broadway, New York, NY 10012 ELIGIBILITY: Contest is open only to legal residents of the USA ages 8-12. Subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY: You can enter the contest on-line or by mail. To enter the contest on-line, go to http://www.scholastic.com/kids/stacks/games/sweepstakes/get_goosebumps_contest/ and click on the contest section. Entrants must choose one of three story starters provided by R.L. Stine and finish it in their own words, entries must not exceed 500 words and be written in the English language. Complete the form in the Contest section and submit the form online along with the completed story to enter the contest. To enter the contest by mail, Go to http://www.scholastic.com/kids/stacks/games/sweepstakes/get_goosebumps_contest and follow the instructions for entry by mail. Such entries should be mailed to: Scholastic Inc., Get Goosebumps Contest/CE, 557 Broadway, New York, NY 10012. The contest will begin at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on October 28, 2009, and end at 3:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on December 1, 2009. One entry per person. No copies, facsimiles or reproductions of online entries will be accepted. All entries (and rights in the winning entry) and rights the winning entry becomes the exclusive property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Sponsor and its agencies shall not be liable for (a) telephone, electronic, program, network, Internet, or computer delays, deletions, interruptions or other failures of any kind; (b) late, lost, damaged, failed, misdirected, incomplete, garbled, unintelligible, or delayed computer messages; or (c) any human error that may occur in the processing of any entry, nor are they responsible for any theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, whether caused by the sender or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Contest. Proof of online submission of the entry form does not constitute proof of delivery. PRIZES: One (1) Grand Prize Winner will be selected by Scholastic on or about December 15, 2009. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a set of Goosebumps Horrorland books signed by R.L. Stine, seven (7) newly repackaged Goosebumps DVDs, and twelve (12) Goosebumps HorrorLand audio books for him/her and a set for his/her classroom. Aggregate retail value of all prizes: $600.00. No substitution or transfer of prizes is permitted by the winners. Prize is non-returnable and cannot be sold or redeemed for cash. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Winner is responsible for payment of all federal, state or other tax liabilities (including income taxes) on any prize received.

Winner will be notified by email, postal mail or telephone using the contact information provided to Sponsor. Prizes will be sent to the mailing addresses provided by winners in the affidavit of eligibility/right of publicity release described below. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of a person submitting an entry form, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the Authorized Account Holder of the e-mail address at the time of entry. “Authorized Account Holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned the e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. GENERAL CONDITIONS: If the administration or integrity of the Contest is compromised or corrupted at any time, the Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend or cancel the Contest. Sponsor and its agencies shall not be liable for any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from entering the Contest. Entrants agree that the decisions of Sponsor related to this Contest are final. By entering the Contest, entrants agree to abide by these rules and to release and hold Sponsor and its agencies harmless from and against any and all damages and claims of any kind in connection with the Contest or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of any prize. Winner and his/her parents or legal guardian will be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/right of publicity release; failure to do so within fourteen (14) days of receipt of such affidavit and release will result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner. Except where prohibited, winner agrees and consents to the use of his/her name, address, likeness and/or entry by Sponsor in any and all media for any and all lawful purposes, whether advertising, promotion or trade, including without limitation online and in print, in perpetuity without further notice or compensation. By entering the Contest, entrants affirm that they have read and accepted these Official Rules. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with this Contest will be ineligible for prizes. WINNER’S LIST: Winner’s name will be available after the completion of the Contest. To obtain the name of the Contest winner, send a request, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope, after January 10, 2010 to: Scholastic Inc., Get Goosebumps Contest/CE, 557 Broadway, New York, NY 10012. Requests must be received before March 10, 2009.
