Application Procedure Dear Visa Applicant, Thank you very much for your interest in travelling to Germany and / or the Schengen Area. Since April 16, 2007, it is no longer possible for us to accept your visa application without prior appointment due to an increasing number of daily visa applications. Therefore, we kindly recommend you to contact our Visa Application Centre in order to schedule an appointment for submission of your visa application. All applicants residing within the jurisdication of this Embassy (Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal as well as in the Union Territories of Chandigarh, Delhi, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep Islands) who wish to apply for a Schengen-Visa (short term visa with a validity up to a maximum of 90 days) or Transit Visa should submit their applications at the Germany VFS Global Visa Application Centre 9, Ground Floor, Block E International Trade Tower Nehru Place, New Delhi – 110019 on a walk-in-basis: first come – first serve Opening hours for submission: Monday – Friday – 08.00 – 12.00 hours 13.00 – 16.00 hours First time applicants who have to come in person to the Embassy for an interview, will be given an appointment by the Visa Application Centre for submitting their applications with the German Embassy. However, applications of bonafide travellers (persons who have been granted a Schengen Visa from any Schengen Member State, Canada or USA during the last five years and have travelled on the same) will be forwarded directly to the German Embassy for processing. The submission of your visa application with VFS can be done either by the applicant himself or any authorized person who bears a photo-ID. Please be informed, that processing of a visa application takes a minimum of three working days (counted from the day of submission with the Embassy). For detailed information with regard to the required documentation please log on to: www.vfs-germany.co.in, see the Embassy’s homepage: www.new-delhi.diplo.de or call the helpline: 011 4253 0000 Applicants for German National Residence Permits (long term visa) have to submit their applications directly with the German Embassy from Monday – Friday between 8.00 and 12.00 hours.

If you prefer, however, to submit your visa application directly to the German Embassy, please contact the Visa Section of the German Embassy between 9.00 and 11.00 a.m. (Tel.: 44 199 222) in order to schedule an appointment. There is no option to submit a visa application without prior appointment. Appointments for direct submission are limited and available from Monday to Thursday between 12.00 – 12.30 hrs only. You have to appear in person for submission of your application and collection of your passport. Please note that it is neither possible to send a representative for submission or collection of your passport nor to collect the visa on the day of application itself.
