Five who trusted Christ while visiting Gateway
Sherley ,age 23, came from Haiti 8 years ago. She has had two babies and two miscarriages. She was living in Miami with her husband, but left him after violence against her caused the two miscarriages. She is now pregnant with another man who wants nothing to do with the baby. \ She is definitely carrying to term and is sue early in 2010. We advised her to move out from his home. Suzanne (Irvington) shared Christ with her and she trusted in Him. Leigh, came to Gateway-Irvington with her three children (ages 4, 9 and 14) She was seeking food. She moved from California to NJ two weeks ago and has been living with her father. We gave them lunch and one of our volunteers took the family to Christian ministry. She and the children trusted Christ. They and we were grateful that the Lord brought this family to Gateway, even though pregnancy wasn’t the main issue. Chalant, age 19, came to Gateway- Irvington with Omar (age 17) in May. She is due in January 2010. Both were challenged to come to Christ. When the gospel was discussed, Chalant said she wasn’t born again, but wished to be. She trusted Christ as Savior and Lord. Suzanne spoke to her about not living with her fiancée. She was encouraged to share her decision for Christ with Omar.
Dora, age 16 and her mom (pictured above) were headed to get her an abortion, but found out she was 5 mo nths along and changed their mind. Joan shared Christ with Dora’s mom and she trusted Him for salvation. Dora still hasn’t made a commitment to the Lord. Baby Jaidyn was born April 10th . Giovanna, age 37 (pictured below with baby Lionel) has a 12-year-old boy from her first marriage and a three-year-old boy from her current husband. When she visited Gateway – Elizabeth in September, Nelsa shared the plan of salvation with her. Giovanna trusted Christ and had baby Lionel prematurely in April.

Women needing help are everywhere! Jackie* called a pregnancy center hotline in NYC after seeing an airplane flying overhead in New Jersey with a banner reading 'fee abortion alternatives'. The NY center called Gateway and we called Jackie. She is no longer 'up in the air' about whether to carry to term or not. She is not considering abortion but is open to counseling. We referred her to a Christian pregnancy center in Shrewsbury, NJ (Solutions Pregnancy and Health Center)
Remember Kim? Many friends of Gateway helped Kim with clothing, gift cards and household items. Kim had baby Heike on April 30th . (see Gateway Today April and May) here’s baby Heike pictured in June during her visit to out Irvington center)
Coming soon Viola, age 26, has five children, including the child due in less than four months. She's currently incarcerated at the Mercer County Correction Center in Lambertville. We visited her on July 10th and had the opportunity to share the gospel using the literature from EvanTell.
Our next Gateway Volunteer Training classes September 10, 12, 17 and 19, 2009 @ Gateway – Irvington.
When asked the question from the booklet 'Is there anything keeping you from trusting Christ right now?' Viola said her 'bad language' and the 'anger in my heart'. We explained that this was the reason Christ came. We can come to Him just as we are and trust Him not only for salvation but to live the life intended for us. Viola will consider the claims of Christ and we ask that you pray for her salvation.
