October 2009 Dear Friend, Greetings once again from everyone at the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church in Torrington, CT. There have been so many things the Lord has done at church this past month; absolute miracles in people’s lives. It’s so exciting I just want to move closer and closer to the Lord Jesus! The Bible tells us that everywhere He went, he went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him. He is with His church, too, in this day! There is a beautiful lady who has been coming to church for five or six weeks now. She had so many struggles in life and even lost her faith in God for a time because of her problems. She couldn’t understand why all these things happened to her. But she met a couple of Christians from our church who invited her to some special meetings we had last month. The Lord reached down in those services and saved her! He came into her heart and lifted her burdens and her cares. The wounds of years of rejection were reversed in a moment of time when she received prayer at the altar. She told me the other day she can’t put into words what the Lord has done for her. She is completely a brand-new person! The Scripture says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (II Corinthians 5:17). The Bible says that when Jesus comes to you, He will heal the broken-hearted and bind up your wounds. When we seek Him and invite Him into our lives He automatically begins to not only restore you but make you new. One of elders brought a message to the church a couple of weeks ago about Joseph, the son of Jacob in the Old Testament. It is a heart-wrenching tale of a broken family, betrayal and jealousy, and rejection. Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery because they were jealous of him, thinking he was the father’s favorite. Little did they know that the father was just as concerned with them as he was with Joseph. But they couldn’t see that. They sold him to merchantmen traveling to Egypt and thought they would never have any contact with him again. But God was with Joseph. He might have thought even God had forsaken him. He didn’t understand all that was taking place in his life. But he didn’t see that God had a plan for his life. There in Egypt he always did the right and honest things, but that backfired on him one day and he was put in the prison! But even there, God was with him. He still served God in the prison and the Lord didn’t forsake him or leave him. These were not ideal training grounds but it was the circumstances that made Joseph strong. It helped shape his outlook and attitude. He had a lot of time to consider all that happened to him and his relationship with his family. His heart longed for his father and brothers. Over time he even forgave his brothers for what they did to him. It took time but when

everything was said and done his love for his family grew stronger than at any time in his life. Forgotten, forsaken, and rejected, one day Joseph’s day of deliverance had come! He was summoned by Pharaoh to interpret a couple of dreams. In his encounter with Pharaoh, Pharaoh noted the wisdom Joseph spoke with. The counsel Joseph gave Pharaoh made him decide to exalt Joseph from a forgotten prisoner to the head of state! But that was secondary to Joseph. He wasn’t really concerned with being a head of state. His thoughts were with his father’s house and his brothers. He longed to know how they fared. But there was no word from them. Seven years passed and then a famine hit all the land. People from every part of the world came to Egypt to buy corn. It was only a matter of time for the famine to push Jacob into telling his sons to go to Egypt, too. His brothers had to stand before Joseph, not realizing this foreign governor was actually the brother they had sold out years ago! Despite the many twists and turns the story took it was Joseph that nurtured his father and brothers through the famine. Even after Jacob died and the brothers thought Joseph would now retaliate for the evil they did to him years before, Joseph said to them, “Fear not…ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them” (Genesis 50:19-21). Oh that there would be more forgiveness in our world today! If you have something against someone else, please just forgive them! Don’t do it for their sake or even your sake, but do it because God, for Christ’s sake, has forgiven you! Just simply forgive your family, friends, and yourself for evil committed. Let the Lord take care of the rest. Life is too short to carry grudges to the grave. Let the blood of Christ cleanse you of all sin and all guilt and all stains on the soul and live at peace with others. This is my prayer for you today, that you will experience the peace of God that passes all knowledge, that you may grow up in Him, complete in all things through Christ Jesus our Lord. Paul told the Ephesian church to put away all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour (yelling out complaints), and evil speaking,”…And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you” (Ephesians 4:31 & 32).
