FURLOUGH and HTA
October 2—All Flu shot paperwork is due October 9—Second Quarter LC registration will be available for sign-up. This schedule will be a little different than first quarter.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 25 2009
As you know the DOE and HSTA have come to an agreement regarding teacher furlough days and budget cuts/accommodations. We at HTA will NOT be furloughing any of our teachers and we will not be cutting or decreasing any of our programs. One of the main reasons we were very proactive in preparing the schools budget cut given the fiscal crisis of the state coming into this school year so we made accommodation's earlier in the year in planning and secondly is our partnership with K12 which absorbs many costs for the school. We will be distributing our second quarter schedule and registration sheets shortly via email and it will be a touch different as you will register through an on-line site. If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to ask.
K-1 Field Trip K-1 Zoo Field Trip is Thursday October 1, 2009 from 9am-1pm. All students need to bring a lunch and a bottle of water. Students are asked to meet outside of the zoo at 9:00 so that we can go in as a group at 9:15. Please be on time to avoid paying your own entrance fee.
Over the next 2 weeks, 7th grade Life Science students will be shipped nutrient agar directly from the vendor. The agar is part of the Unit 2: Differing Cells experiment “Growing Bacteria from Clean and Dirty Hands”. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Gasda.
The Book It Program will begin in October and run through out the school year. All students will be reading and striving for a goal each much. The incentive is a certificate of a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut. Each grade will be given a calendar and a number of minutes to read per month. Your homeroom teacher will have this for you. At the end of the month you will need to return the calendar to your homeroom teacher signed by an adult, Learning coach, or guardian. The Literacy Teacher (Ms. Linhart), will then write out the certificate and return it to your homeroom teacher. All your reading calendars will be logged in monthly and kept track of in the Literacy classroom.
