Introduction to this e-book One day while I was using my PC, I noticed something strange, my PC was not stable as usual, I restarted my PC, doubled checked the system, I made an antivirus scan, nothing new, it was still unstable. Finally, decided to reinstall my system again, but guess what, it worked perfectly for only four minutes. I am using a good antivirus, what is going on?? Okay, let's start over -told myself- this time I will try to remember what was the last action I did on my PC, before this disaster. Think, Think, and Think again, I remembered what I did, really could it be my flash memory??!!! Ohhhh, my God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES, yeeehaaa, it is. The last thing came across my mind, that my PC could be infected. I formatted all my HDD, formatted my flash memory, now my PC is working well, but the data was lost. I realized that that I wasn't the only one who got this virus, so many computers was getting infected fast by various USB devices, and I decided to help computer users not to get infected any more, not to pay much for fixing their crashed computers, And to break the autorun virus. In this guide you will learn how did I put the end way to the autorun virus in my life, and if you have a flash memory you will learn how to use it safely, without using any additional programs or any Antiviruses. Autorun Viruses
• What is an autorun virus? Actually the autorun virus is a special kind of computer viruses, although the simplicity of this virus, it spreads fast. The simplicity of the autorun virus didn’t make it easy to be stopped; it's spreading and deploying itself across computers through all known USB storage devices such as digital cameras, flash memories, java mobiles, memory cards and external USB HDD. You can consider any USB memory device as a virus container.
• Is it dangerous Of course yes, it's very dangerous; the autorun virus can deploy more than one virus at the same time. Actually it could deploy what the virus creator want it to deploy, so it helps more viruses to spread, so if the autorun virus didn’t harm your computer, the other included virus will do.
• Why can't 100% depend on an antivirus Because this virus could be modified by any professional or nonprofessional users, even you, you can create your own customized autorun script virus. These fast and easy modifications of the autorun virus make the virus undetectable by most of the powerful antivirus programs. But DO NOT stop using your antivirus. Why??!! Because we said it can deploy more than one virus, the antivirus could delete or clean this other virus.

How to know that your USB device is infected • Things Not To Do After inserting you USB device you probably will see the next dialogue box on your screen:
DO NOT EVER click OK button Fig (1) - Do not ever Click OK button until you know what it means. - This dialogue box performs the default action for USB device after inserting. - If there is an infected file on the USB storage device, and the default action for the autorun virus on the device is to run the infected file, the virus will run and your computer will be infected. - So if you are not sure what the default action is, ignore this box. - The Fig (1) shows a really clean "not infected" USB device.

The default Action for the inserted device
DO NOT EVER click OK button Fig (2)
- Here in Fig (2), this is a really infected USB device. - Now look to the first line inside the dialogue box, you will notice that the default action is to open the program cmd.exe file. Who knows now this program could be infected. - Here the normal user "NOT YOU" will press OK button, and then the cmd.exe file will work. - The only safe action "till now" to make for this box is to press Cancel.

- In Fig (3) you see the icon for the inserted USB storage device as you see it when you open My Computer. - Do not ever double click this icon, if you click it you may let the default action for this device to run, and till now you don’t know what the default action is.

- Sometimes the autorun virus on the USB storage device may change the icon of the removable disk in My Computer, and may change its name too, look at the next Fig.

• Context menu Commands
It's up normal to find two same commands in the same menu.
Fig (5) - Here is a real proof of an autorun virus infection. - When you Write click the USB device on My Computer you may see something like this in Fig (5). - There are two AutoPlay commands in the menu, and this is clue that there is something up normal for this device. - Here the default option is to AutoPlay a command on the USB device. - Do not choose any command and look to the next figure. All these commands in the above section on the right click menu you do not see when you click the OK button on Fig (1) and Fig (2), and they may infect your system. DO NOT choose any command in the above section of the right click menu.

- Here is another proof of an autorun virus infection. - There are two Open commands in the menu, and this is clue that there is something up normal for this device. - Here the default option is to open a command on the USB device; this command may be opening a website or downloading a file. - Do not choose any command and look to the next figure. All these commands in the above section on the right click menu you do not see when you click the OK button on Fig (1) and Fig (2), and they may infect your system. DO NOT choose any command in the above section of the right click menu.

- Now look at the first line, it's an unknown command, its look like something written in unknown language for the system or like a machine language. - If you double click this icon the unknown command will be performed. - This unknown command could be any thing (running a file on the USB device, opening website, downloading an infected file to your system. All these commands in the above section on the right click menu you do not see when you click the OK button on Fig (1) and Fig (2), and they may infect your system. DO NOT choose any command in the above section of the right click menu.

How to know that your Computer is infected
• Pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL When you Press CTRL+ALT+DEL you should see the Task Manager Window on your screen

• Pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL If you see this Message, then you computer may be infected

Because you can stop any running program from the task manager windows, the virus is disabling it to protect itself from being closed, so you can't shut it down. Very clever virus
• Context menu Commands Depending on what we explained in Figures (4), (5), (6), (7), you will know. When you write click any partition or drive on My Computer and you see these symptoms then your computer may be infected too.

• Inside Tools menu From your desktop If you open My Computer, try to open the Tools menu The last option in the menu must be The Folder Options You should see this as shown in Fig (10)

• Your antivirus activity There are tow cases about the antivirus activities - If the antivirus is still working, so it may not detect the virus - If the antivirus icon disappeared from the try icon, the antivirus itself may be destroyed by the autorun virus. Some Worm (W32) is doing this.
• The ability to install an Antivirus Some users try to install an antivirus but they can't, what ever the kind of the antivirus is, if your computer is still infected, in most of cases the setup process doesn't complete successfully.
If the setup process completed successfully, and you still see the symptoms of virus infection on your computer, then your computer is still infected but the good thing here that the autorun virus may be wake or not mixed with W32 Worm virus
• Speed of your system Of course the speed of your system is affected if it got infected by any kind of viruses, but here we can't talk about it clearly because the performance of the computer depends on many variables such as programs installed or free the size of you system partition and more other things.
• Floppy Drive Activity If still using a Floppy Drive 1.44 you can here loud sound when using it, it's normal because it depend on a mechanic movement inside to read the disk. BUT if you are not working on a disk and you hear the sound every couple of minutes (the time is variable from a virus to another), then your computer may be infected and the virus is working to copy itself on this drive, this why you hear the sound.

Conclusion • Advises Your USB storage device works as a virus container, because you are transfer it between computers, if you trust your computer, don’t trust the other one, and don't trust you USB storage device.
