FOCARS – 85: Vision & Mission  To create a cadre of professional researchers to enable ICAR achieve its Vision 2025, &  To foster professionalism, team work culture, interdisciplinary perspective and fraternity in the newly recruited ARS scientists and groom them as professional researchers.

FOCARS – 85: FOCUS  FOCARS-85 is designed for the newly recruited entry-level ARS Scientists of the ICAR.  The course aims at providing exposure to the trainees on the concepts and principles of project management with special emphasis on project formulation and implementation.  It also includes capsules in related areas on human resources development, and information and communication management.

FOCARS – 85: Objectives  To appraise scientist trainees about agricultural scenario, and the agricultural research, education and development systems in the country,  To sensitize the scientist trainees about the global agricultural scenario and its implications to Indian agriculture,  To stimulate critical thinking approach to agricultural research,

and

multidisciplinary

 To expose scientist trainees to modern concepts of agricultural research project formulation, management methods and processes, and promote competency,  To develop knowledge communication,

and

skills

in

scientific

FOCARS – 85: Objectives  To understand modern concepts and techniques of information management and use of information technology to enhance scientific input in agricultural research,  To enable scientist trainees to understand their behaviour and style of work, and its implications in research organization, with special emphasis on personality development, inter-personal relationship, team work, dynamics of human motivation, and organizational behaviour, and  To expose scientist trainees to the socioeconomic milieu of rural society in general, and farming community in particular, and to develop empathy for appropriate technology generation and farmers and appreciation of the need to innovate technology diffusion and adoption.

FOCARS – 85: Structure & Duration  The four-month FOCARS programme is structured in to three phases, as shown below:

FOCARS – 85: Design & Delivery

 Phases I and III will be organized at NAARM with a modular approach.  Phase II will be conducted at the ICAR Institutes and Agricultural Universities for three weeks with 6 days joining time.

FOCARS – 85: Important Instructions  During the entire duration of FOCARS training, you will be under the administrative control of Director, NAARM and shall be considered as NAARM staff.  You are not expected to leave the NAARM premises without prior permission of the Competent Authority  Maintain punctuality  Seating arrangements for social mixing  Zero tolerance for absenteeism, indiscipline and noncompliance to general code of conduct

FOCARS – 85: Important Instructions  Avoid uninformed absence from the sessions  Absentees Beware!!!  Absence from 1 session amounts to half-day CL  Absence from 2 sessions amounts to one day Casual Leave  Leave is NOT a RIGHT (it is matter of discretion of the CA).  Leave will not be allowed during FET and Placement Training
