ALL-ASIAN FOOD GALORE Ingesting the familiar but with many hints of surprise.

Atrium Café’s buffet layout

of the main course line-up includes tender tandoori chicken with naan bread or nasi briyani, curries, laksa, satay, dumplings and another popular item, the Hainanese chicken rice. Finally, we went for the final round – the dessert counter. My favourite would have to be the Pengat Pisang, a rich medley of banana, santan and caramel – an absolutely delightful local Malay delicacy. All good things must come to an end. Even our wonderful long lunch that was led to a longer duration than intended. The buffet served at Atrium Café is definitely a must-visit and perhaps, you will be like us too, ingesting the familiar and still be pleasantly surprised.

hinking about what to have for lunch can be quite a chore, especially when you are heading out in a group. Different tastes and different opinions may just be one of the biggest headaches to deal with. While resorting to a buffet may not be the most creative solution, it is usually an acceptable compromise. On a weekday and with a luxury of time for a long lunch, my girlfriends and I decided to spoil ourselves silly with a buffet at Atrium Café at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa. The tantalising Pan-Asian buffet at the café is available daily for lunch and dinner. In fact, it is well known for catering only the best PanAsian cuisine from around the region. What guests will be treated to is an endless feast that is made up of Thai, Indian, Nyonya and some of the best local signatures. Walking into Atrium Café was like walking into a grand glass auditorium. With its unique glass roof, the entire arena is made to be lit up

with natural light during the day and illuminated by moonlight in the evenings. The seating area of the café can accommodate up to 540 pax and is best suited to hosting corporate events and any other special occasions. We started our eating galore with the one of the house’s specialties – a wide array of pickled and specially marinated appetisers. Housed in mini glass cups, one will be spoilt for choice even from the start. From deep-fried sambal ikan bilis to bite-sized squid marinated with lime and onions, this marked the beginning of what felt like an enjoyable discovery. Main courses are made up of well-known local favourites and other Asian dishes. The wan tan mee is said to be one of the buffet crowd’s must-try. Made right before your eyes, one can either have it dry or in soup. The rest
