WHY PARTICIPATE IN THE FED 2.0 CONFERENCE? In his Presidential announcement speech, February 10, 2007, President Obama clearly stated his commitment to bring the federal government into the 21st century, saying, "Let us be the generation that reshapes our economy to compete in the digital age." There is no doubt that Web 2.0 technologies will play a pivotal role in achieving this objective. But Fed 2.0 won't be reached with a Facebook page and a Twitter account. Fed 2.0 applications and services require security, scalability, integration with existing systems, sophisticated archiving and retrieval, and, most importantly, a dramatic rethinking of how communications is done both inside and outside the four walls of every government agency. The people who will be leading this effort will be at the Fed 2.0 Conference, a three-day event, April 29th through May 1st in Washington, D.C., featuring keynotes, breakout sessions, workshops and networking opportunities for government employees, developers, suppliers, communications professionals and systems integrators. The conference agenda will feature leading experts, case studies and hands-on education in collaboration, social networking, rich media and other Web 2.0 solutions to streamline the business of government, make it more responsive to constituents, and reduce costs. AGENDA The conference starts Wednesday, April 29 and winds up the afternoon of Friday, May 1st. Wednesday evening there will be a welcoming reception for all conference admission holders, exhibitors, speakers and the media (online and offline). Thursday and Friday will both feature a comprehensive line-up of keynotes, general sessions and breakout sessions designed to meet the needs of all conference participants. In addition to the opening night mixer, several sponsored dining and entertainment activities will be made available to participants. There will also be informal activities such as a Fed 2.0 Tweetup.
