February Newsletter 2019 Dear Parents of the K-E Kindergarten, Is it February already? Wow! What wild weather we had last week. We will continue this week with the Catholic Schools’ planned activities. Please refer to Mrs. Vitulli’s CSW updated email. Our 100 Days celebration will be on Friday, February 8th. We will be participating in a variety of activities, a few with our K-P friends. Please make sure your child’s 100 Days poster is turned in by the above date. February is Black History month and while we cheered for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his accomplishments, we still have many other heroes to learn about. Please have your child bring in a favorite board game on 2-8 Reading will focus on the letters J,B,W,E. We continue to work on sight words and blending 3-4 letter words to sound them out and read them. We will also be learning about different types of genre and writing our last names properly. In Math, we will be working on number sentences, modeling subtraction as taking away from or separating groups of objects and continue to count by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
Religion will focus on others’ feelings, forgiving others as Jesus forgives us and become acquainted with names for items in the Church as well as on the Altar. Our Valentine’s Day party will be on Thursday, February 14th from 1:30-2:30 p.m. We have 19 students in our class for Valentines- a class list will be coming home. Please, no edible treats. Your child will need an empty paper towel roll for an upcoming project.
