Preparing Students to Showcase Achievement Preparing Students to Showcase Achievement” is underway as students attempt to beat last year’s scores. During the week of February 9th, all 11th grade students and several 12th grade students took the PSSA writing test. The two testing classes with the highest attendance percentage during the practice test will be treated to a pizza lunch. Make-up tests were administered this past week. Students taking the PSSA will be dismissed after the test each day. During the week of February 23rd, students will begin Math and Reading Boot Camp. They will take a shortened version of both tests and the results will be used to target instruction during the boot camp. From Feb. 26 through March 13th, Mr. S. King will be in Mrs. Capers’ classes on Thursdays reviewing reading strategies and Mr. Bujak will be in Ms. Harvey’s classes on Fridays focusing on math. Math and science teachers are asked to assign one handwritten open-ended question each week of the boot camp. Each day, students continue to hear a test taking tip, a sample vocabulary question, and a math challenge question. One Call Now Phone System The recent purchase of the One Call Now phone system is a great addition to our technology. One Call Now phone message service delivers automated phone calls, within minutes, to any group large or small. Our first test of the system delivered a phone message reminder to the parents and/or guardians of all students to inform them of the recent report card conferences. In the near future parents will receive automated phone messages about student absences, school events, etc. To ensure that all information is communicated to you, make sure that we have an accurate phone number on file.
