Honorable Eliot Spitzer Office of the Governor State Capitol Albany, New York 12224 Dear Govemor Spitzer:

I wanted to express my appreciation for your efforts in reappropriating $25 million as part of the 2007-08 Executive Budget to assist in rehabilitating state property now designated as part of the Nissequogue River State Park. It is my hope that this step will reaffirm the state's commitment to the residents of Kings Park by accepting responsibility for its environmental obligations and by supporting the preservation of ever-diminishing open space on Long Island. In addition, it is my hope and expectation that the Kings parkcommunity will soon receive a formal announcelnent of your administration's intentions to maintain the entire tranfer of approximately 368 acres of additional state property into the Nissequogue River State park. Upon that declaration, I look forward to working in a spirit of cooperatioi with state and local officials, as well as community representatives, in planning a vision for this parkland that is beneficial to all of Long Island and the great State of New york. Thank you again for your recent budget action and, as always, I remain available to meet with you and your staffto discuss this important matter. I eagerly await further positive news from you on behalf of the Kings park community. Sincerely,

J. Flanagan cc: Carol Ash, Acting Commissi
