FCC Advent Devotionals
This year our book of daily devotions for Advent has been produced in-house, with FCC members providing their own offerings, thoughts, and reflections on the Advent season. We still have Advent Devotionals available. The daily devotions will also be online at the church website: www.fccminneapolis.org.
Amahl and the Night Visitors Practice !
If you are interested in being part of the chorus for the December 18 performance, please meet in the choir room after service. ! Heifer Project Christmas Sale! Give a gift that will make a difference in the world. Bobbie Hall will be available after service for those interested in buying a livestock animal that will help feed hungry people around the world. !
Advent Vespers Wednesday, December 9 at 7pm. Join us for a brief (less than 30 minutes) informal gathering time or prayer, mediation and communion in the Lounge.

20/30 Young Adult Group Baking Fest
Saturday afternoon, Dec. 12, from 1- 4 p.m. The 20/30 Young Adult group will gather in the church kitchen to do Christmas baking – cookies, bars, balls, cakes, pheasant under glass, and whatever. We will eat some of the cookies and some will go to the Aliveness Project.
Prayer Circle
The Prayer Circle which started over the summer, is back after a haitus. We meet in the Library on Sunday mornings for a short devotion and prayer.
Advent Hygiene Drive
Don’t forget between now and December 24 to drop off your toiletries (toothpaste, soap, toilet paper, etc.) at the church. We will donate them to the Community Emergency Service FoodShelf.
2009 Christmas Offering
The 2009 Christmas Offering goes to support the Regional Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) including the Christian Church in the Upper Midwest. We will receive this offering on December 13 and 20.

Amahl and the Night Visitors
We are thrilled to be able to host for the second time a production of Gian Carlo Menotti’s opera Amahl and the Night Visitors on Friday night, Dec. 18, at 7:30 pm. Laura Anderson, our soprano soloist, is producing this opera, and James Barnett, our pianist, will conduct the orchestra. Both the orchestra and chorus will feature student musicians from the University of Minnesota. Members of our choir will join student singers in the chorus. James Baumgartner, choir tenor, and Anna DeGraff, alto, will sing leading roles. The role of the boy will be sung by Luke Bilotta, who is a member of the Minnesota Boychoir. Freewill donations will again go to Feed My Starving Children. Please invite family and friends to this special Advent preformance.
Nicholas Carter in Concert Nicolas Carter will present two concerts during Advent. Saturday, Dec. 12, Nicolas will be joined by his ensemble Nube for a program called “The Golden Bird.” Nube is a four-member group of harp, guitar, percussion and Andean flutes. This event also begins at 7 pm with tickets $15 in advance and $20 at the door. The following Saturday, Dec. 19, Nicolas will perform a solo program of music and reflections on the season. The program will begin at 7 pm, and tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
