HAMMOND’S FAREWELL 2009 NSW AND VICTORIA PLUS DAVE & SUE FERGUSON’S AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Maria (Kim behind the camera)Hammond & their three boys, Lachlan, Carter & Jordan at St Kilda beach.

We would love you to join us at several key events before we go! Farewell isn’t goodbye it is just see you in a few years. As we come to the last stages of planning & preparation for moving overseas, we are keen to connect with as many friends as we can before we go. Having transitioned out of the team leader role at the Junction, we feel we have more space for connecting with people. (though packing is getting busy!) We are really excited about our move to the States. We have made some good friends there like Mike Katzenberger from LA, the team leader of Emmaus, the community where Alan and Debbie belong. We chat every couple of weeks & originally we thought that is where we would be working. While taking the role at CCC in Chicago, Mike has

Mark Conner, Lead Pastor at Citylife Church, Melbourne.

continued to become a close friend & we will spend one week with him, Dana & Ed, the leaders from Emmaus, when we first land in America. (9th-16th December) This week will be important for our family as we would have just flown 14 hours, finished school & said goodbye to friends & family. Sold our car, TV & couch, rented our house & lived out of a suitcase for two months. I will hit the ground running in Chicago with my 20 hr a week role & so we wanted one week off in LA before we entered the snow conditions of Chicago. We have also made a real connection with several of the key staff at CCC. Eric Metcalf & Bill Barton are two good mates. Pat Masek is so much like Helen Crothers, my mother in law, it’s SO scary. She has done so much work in getting us to America, I am not sure how we can ever repay her. Also the

Warners who have opened their home.I am really excited to think that there are people I love here in our country who will get to meet Dave Ferguson. (See last page for Dave’s Bio) He is one of the most outstanding leaders & church planters in America. I am amazed by how many key leaders here in Australia have connected with Dave or have read “The Big Idea.” I hope you can make the trip to Newcastle to connect with Dave at Innovate 09 in November or one of our Melbourne farewells.

Much love Kim, Maria, Lachlan, Carter & Jordan

While I was in Chicago in January 2009 I found out that Mark Conner and Phil Baker had been in contact with Dave Ferguson. They were both very interested in bringing Dave out to Australia to minister in their churches. After spending a weekend with the staff at CCC I came back to Australia & began to coordinate between CCC & Citylife. Mark was keen to to have Dave spend time with Citylife’s entire staff around some of the multi site and multiplying methods from CCCC. Oz Reach in NSW founded & lead by Kevin Wilcock will host Dave & Sue in Newcastle for the Innovate conference. Then Mark has Dave Ferguson with his entire staff for two days in Melbourne. Then he will preach at The Winepress (AOG) in Berwick before flying home.

innovate Friday 13th-14th November Newcastle A conference for pastors, church planters & leaders who want to be challenged to think and act innovatively. Life Church Newcastle is one Australia’s most innovative churches doing evangelism to the rich & the poor. From their “Soul Cafe” which feeds hundreds of people each week to their “Soap Box Nights” where professional acts like James Morrison preform in front of hundreds of people for charity. Read Dave’s BIO (last page) & see he is one of the most influential leaders today.

Chicago in Winter has minus 40 degree windchill. Coming from an Australian Summer to an American Winter, we will need to purchase jackets, pants and boots that can cope with the rain, snow and cold. 2. Bunk Beds and a Queen bed for us. 3. A car that would make New York. One of the amazing leaders & our good friend Bill Barton has offered his spare car for us. This is great news for running around Chicago, I am praying for something newer for longer road trips. 4. One way flight from LA to Chicago. We have paid for our return flights from Melbourne to LA, plus insurance. The one other major expense we are yet to cover is LA to Chicago-$1200 for all of us. 5. That our Visa application be successful. We have worked so hard to get to where we are today. Interviews & stacks of paperwork, saving & raising money. This next appointment is the main one we are waiting on for the green-light on the Visa.
