__________________________________________________________________ WMU On November 3, the Shiloh (old Site) Baptist Church, 801 Sophia Street, will host the Baptist Women’s World Day of Prayer from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon. All women are invited! A light lunch will follow the prayer service.

On Sunday, November 23, we will have our Thanksgiving Service at 5:30 pm. Please be sure to join us on Sunday, November 30 as Milton Christy joins us for morning worship. Lunch will be served after the morning service. Remember: Encouragement cards are available on the First and Second Sunday of each month. HISTORY OF VETERANS DAY President Woodrow Wilson first proclaimed an Armistice Day for November 11, 1919. This is a day to honor military veterans and is always celebrated November 11th each year in remembrance of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. Hostilities were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. Although originally named Armistice Day, the name was changed to Veterans Day in May of 1954 in order to recognize all veterans rather than just those who served in World War I.

The family of Susie Lane wishes to thank the members for their prayers, support and the wonderful food that was prepared. Thank you and God bless! Tara Lane and Family Many thanks to my church family and friends for your love and support during the untimely death of my brother Broaddus Jefferson. Also for your calls, cards, visits and most of all your prayers. In Christian love, Muriel Rodgers & Family. Thank you so very much for the many visits, gifts and meals for Ruth over the past few years. Your prayers and your care and concern have meant so much to her and to her family. She is now settled in Heartfields Assisted Living and would love to have you visit her there. God bless you as you visit and share in His name. Ruth Short and Family. Dear Falmouth Friends, I want to thank you for all the caring concern shown for me due to my recent cornea transplant surgery. Your prayers, calls, gifts and visits meant so much to me and my family. My surgery was successful; so now I have to be patient and wait for my eye sight to improve. May God bless you all! In Christ’s love, Gene Burton.

More Than A Day

Volume 35, Issue 11 November 2008

As Thanksgiving Day rolls around, It brings up some facts, quite profound. We may think that we're poor, Feel like bums, insecure, But in truth, our riches astound. We have friends and family we love; We have guidance from heaven above. We have so much more Than they sell in a store, We're wealthy, when push comes to shove. So add up your blessings, I say; Make Thanksgiving last more than a day. Enjoy what you've got; Realize it's a lot, And you'll make all your cares go away.
