Andrea Jeovanna (S3-Turner) Jalan Karya No 148-B Medan, North Sumatera Indonesia 24 July 2017 The Principal Sampoerna Academy Medan, North Sumatera Indonesia Reference: Issues in the canteen Dear Mr Windyguts, I am proposing changes regarding the school canteen menu and the issues I had face in the canteen. It has come to my attention that the food sold in the canteen is not only expensive but also lacks variety and nutrients. Most of the food are processed food which contains a lot of preservative. A lot of the food are very oily which is unhealthy because they are high in calories. The canteen serves fried chicken almost everyday. Fried chicken is an unbalanced diet and is unhealthy to consume everyday. I have heard complaints from other students that they were unhappy and are disinterest by the food served in the canteen. Changing of school menu upon nutrients we consume can help us stay fit and healthy. Often then that, there are limited choices of food. Most of the time, the food prepared are the same. In addition, the food is too expensive. For example, one piece of chicken cost almost 30K. Since it is too expensive, students often buy snacks from security or decided to buy delivery food. Snacks and delivery food is unhealthy and may result parents complaining to the school about what their kid had consume. So, I suggest that the school canteen add up more variety to the food. Furthermore, the school can add up more vegetables and fruits instead, as the school cannot serve pork or beef. Aside from that, we also suffer long queues and lack of tables. There are only two stalls available in the canteen and I have really hard time waiting as the school only provide 30 Minutes recess. As the result of long queues, I often attend my next class late and will be penalized. The lack of tables also makes me hard to eat as I could not find a table to sit. I would like to suggest that the canteen open up more stalls with different variety of food and adds up more tables. The hygiene and preparation of food leave a lot to be desired. The food is not covered and the canteen attendants talks or shouts to students without using a mask and may accidentally spit

out their saliva into the food. With their lackadaisical attitude, the food they sell would one way or another become contaminated. Moreover, the cutleries are not washed properly and still have stains on them. Thank you for your attention, I hope I will be receiving a favorable reply from you. Yours Sincerely,

(Andrea Jeovanna)
