COURSE TITLE
Presentation and Pronunciation Skills To develop understanding of the structure, format and delivery of an academic presentation suitable for LSE. To introduce and practice the planning and execution of a successful presentation.
AIMS
To establish and practise the key elements of presentation delivery.
OBJECTIVES
To have successfully delivered a practice presentation based on authentic LSE coursework which includes – • appropriate choice of topic and academic focus • effective structuring and design • knowledge of transition strategies • effective use of visual support materials and physical space • well-judged language delivery - pausing, stresstiming, voice projection, tone and pace
STUDENT PROFILE
LSE students who wish to develop their pronunciation and presenting skills.

Presentation - Planning an academic presentation – ‘what LSE wants’, structure, functions, golden rules etc. Week 1 Pronunciation - Pausing, rhythm/stress-timing Short group practice, short individual practice Presentation - Running the presentation, using space, using slides/visuals and notes Week 2 Pronunciation - Linking (vocabulary and strategy), voice projection, pace Practice Presentation 1
