Egg Drop Challenge

The Annual SCIS-PD Egg-citing Egg-cellent

Egg Drop! Task: Design a landing craft for an egg which will withstand the force of a four-storey fall! Size: Your landing craft must measure no larger than 15 cm. x 15 cm. x 15 cm. It can be smaller than that, but not bigger! (Warning: these specs can be modified by your classroom teacher, especially if you’re in Grade 5!)

Materials: You may make your landing craft out any type of material you choose. However, you can use only 2 different kinds altogether (for example, an outer ‘case’ as well as inner materials). You do NOT need to use a parachute, although that can certainly be option. Be warned: they often fail to deploy properly! Instead, think about “insulating” your egg from the shock of the fall… Testing Date: Thursday, May 7 9:00-10:00 AM
