General information about Faculty/ Higher School/ Vocational Higher School There have been 7 undergraduate programs that are carried out in these departments. Sociology Department is now initiating its undergraduate program. The education languages of Psychology and History are in Turkish but they are providing the one-year obligatory English Course to the students beginning from the 2004-2005 academic year. The other four departments (e.g., Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) have continued their education program in English. Biology, Physics, and Mathematics departments have also implemented the undergraduate programs in the Evening Program that all courses are given during the night hours. Biology, Physics, and Chemistry departments have also graduate programs in both Master of Science and Ph.D studies in addition to their undergraduate programs. Mathematics Department has a graduate program for a Master of Science Degree in addition to its undergraduate program. History Department has now both undergraduate and a graduate program for a Master Degree. In addition, Turkish Language and Literature department offers only undergraduate program. Our faculty, which is serving with 91 faculty members and 15 administrative personnels, aims to train and raise well-educated, self-respected, creative, inquisitive, and investigative students to the society. We are trying to provide the ‘ Point of Views’ that each students must have in our today’s rapidly changing world by the means of both the theoretical and practical courses and selective courses from our departments with our dynamic and well-educated faculty members. Our labs in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry departments have now facilities that are among the ten best universities in nationwide. We are encouraging our faculty members to keep in touch with new developments and innovations in science by supporting symposiums and seminars that often take place on the frequently bases in our seminar rooms that have multimedia accesses. The pioneer and well-recognized articles that are written by our faculty members and have been published in the well-respected international journals are rapidly increasing each year.

Educational facilities
The major purpose of the department aims and donates students primarily in line with the principles and revolutions with M. K. Atatürk, the founder of the modern Turkish republic, moreover, owing vision, able to have a scientific responsibility in Ph.D.; thought and research capable; additionally provides students to be occupied in any duty not only in sole biology but also medicine, environment, food, forestry, agriculture like fields after graduation; in Turkey and abroad. The lectures are performed with data show or/and overhead equipped classrooms and our laboratories are donated with novel instruments like GC, ELISA, PCR; other small techware, glassware and chemicals.
Other than the staff offices belonging to the department, the department shares the datashow and/or overhead equipped classrooms. Additionally the department has 16 laboratories and students can have their spare time in the faculty studying rooms and canteens. Exams are generally performed as two mid-terms and Examination and assessment one final, supported with assignments, oral presentations, regulations term paper and field studies. The evaluation is performed under the framework of AIBU Directive of Exams. The students have the right to transfer to equivalent Access to further studies programs.
