John Henry Donahue-1 was born on 26 Dec 1847 in Ireland[1]. He died on 03 Sep 1894 in Waterville, NY[1]. He married Catherine Brennan Donahue on Abt. 1868, daughter of John Brannan and Mary Branan. She was born on 12 Mar 1851 in County Waterford, Ireland[2, 3]. She died on 01 Dec 1908 in Utica, NY[1, 4]. Notes for John Henry Donahue: John's death certificate state that his parents born in Ireland, but their names were not listed on death certificate. John was naturalized with the name O'Donohue. He died of uremia. Death Notice - Waterville Times September 7, 1894 Died - Donahue at his home on Tower Ave., Waterville, NY Monday September 3, 1894 John H. Donahue aged 47 years. He leaves a wife and six children, three daughters and three sons. The funeral was held from St. Bernards Church on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. John was found in 1870 Town of Paris Census with a wife and daughter Anna. In 1875 they were in the Town of Augusta and it said he was a naturalized citizen. In 1880 They were in the Town of Sangerfield. 1884 County Directory listed John H. Donahue as a Saloon owner in Waterville. Found in 1880 Census in Waterville, NY. His death certificate stated he was a liquor dealer. Notes for Catherine Brennan Donahue: Obituary: Utica Daily Press December 2, 1908 Mrs. Katherine Donahue, widow of John H. Donahue died shortly after 9:00 last evening at her home, 234 Elizabeth St., She had been in failing health for the last four years. Mrs. Donahue was born in County Waterford Ireland, March 12, 1851 and came to this country with her parents when she was five years old. She had lived successively in Clayville, Oriskany Falls, and Waterville and had been a resident of this city for the last 13 years. She was a member of St. Agnes Church. Three daughters and three sons survive as follows: Mrs. A.M. Pratt, Utica, Mrs. R. E. Anderson, New York; Mrs. A. B. Coleman, Schenectady; William, Edward and Harry all of this city. There are also five grandchildren and a sister Mrs. Dempster, of this city. 1900 Utica Census 8th Ward said she was able to read and write. Emma Donahue Anderson, B: 1871 in Clayville or Sangerfield, NY[8], M: ??. Notes for Emma Donahue Anderson: Lived in NYC in 1894. The 1900 Manhatten census showed an Emma Anderson married to Richard Anderson. Not proven if this is the correct match.

Helen A. Donahue Coleman Pawlak, B: 08 Jul 1873 in Oriskany Falls, NY [4, 8], D: 07 Apr 1958 in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Utica, NY[4], M: 1900 in ??. Notes for Helen A. Donahue Coleman Pawlak: Helen was listed as Nellie in the 1880 Census and Ella in the 1875 Census. The past 19 years Helen had lived in Utica. Previously she had lived in Waterville, Schenectady, and Rome, NY. She was educated in Waterville Schools and was a communicant of St. Peter's Church. Helen did not have any children.

Anna Donahue Pratt-2(John Henry Donahue-1) was born on 07 Aug 1869 in Clayville, NY[4, 5]. She died on 04 Nov 1959 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital, New Hartford, NY[4, 6]. She married ALFRED MASON PRATT on 11 Apr 1892 in Utica, NY[7], son of AUGUSTUS MASON PRATT and Anna E. Nibbs Pratt. He was born on 06 Mar 1871 in Osceola, NY[4, 12]. He died on 21 Dec 1956 in Utica, NY[4, 13]. Notes for Anna Donahue Pratt: Mrs. Pratt died after an illness of a week. She had been residing with her son, Harold J. Pratt of 48 Sunnyside Drive, Utica. Born in Clayville, NY and then moved to Waterville, NY where she went to school. Moved to Utica after marriage. Member of Lady of Lourdes Church. Arrangements of death - Doyle Funeral Home. Information taken from obituary. Notes for ALFRED MASON PRATT: Mr. Pratt died in his home after a long illness. Alfred was born in Osceola, NY. He moved to Camden and went to school in Camden. He moved to Utica after his marriage. He worked in the Oneida Knitting Mills, then opened a grocery store on the corner of Rutger St. and Third Ave. in Utica, NY. After that he opened the North Utica Gas Station. He was a member of Calvery Episcopal Church and a former member of the Men's Club of Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Above information taken from obituary. The story has been told that he lost his right arm, below the elbow, in an industrial accident at a knitting mill. He had an artificial arm. Notes for Olive Mae Pratt Gloeckler: Died of Cancer She was associated with her father in the grocery and creamery business prior to her marriage. Member of Calvary Episcopal Church. Lived at 75 Ballantyne Brae at time of her death.

George Alfred Pratt, B: 22 Feb 1895 in Utica, NY[15], D: 16 Apr 1961 in Monrovia, California[4], M: 19 Sep 1916 in Detroit, Michigan[16]. Notes for George Alfred Pratt: Burial through the Baxter Funeral Home. According to 1925 Census, George was a bill clerk. Lived at 1120 Brinckerhoff Ave., Utica, NY. George moved to Schenectady many years ago where he was employed by General Electric Co. He retired in 1960 and moved to Monrovia, California in October 1960. His obituary said his wife was still alive and he had three grandchildren in California. He had worked for GE for 19 years.

Descendants of John Henry Donahue Generation 2 Son, Harold lived in Maine at time of father's death. Harold lived at 48 Sunnyside Drive, Utica, NY in 1959. He had been employed by the Genesee Supply Company for 47 years retiring in 1966. He was of Episcopal faith. He had 5 grandchildren; Janet, Steven, David, Susan and Nancy and 2 great grandchildren.

Claude Raymond Pratt, B: 02 Nov 1899 in Utica, NY[4, 17], D: 11 Oct 1948 in Utica, NY[4]. Notes for Claude Raymond Pratt: Died of Coronary thrombosis in bedroom at Utica State Hospital where he was employed in the kitchen. Belonged to the Episcopal Church.

Gertrude A. Pratt Bigelow, B: 1909 in Utica, NY[18, 19], D: 16 Aug 1969 in New Hartford, NY[4], M: 1948 in Utica, NY. Notes for Gertrude A. Pratt Bigelow: Died in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Bigelow was employed by Utica Mutual for 21 years before she retired in 1948. She was member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and it's Women's Organization and the St. Lukes-Memorial Hospital Guild.

He married Margaret Quinlan Donahue on 23 Oct 1901 in St. Agnes Church, Utica, NY, daughter of Patrick Quinlan and Johanna Quinlan. She was born on 04 Mar 1875 in Utica, NY[4, 20]. She died on 30 Sep 1946 in Utica, NY[4]. Notes for William E. Donahue: William was listed as a bartender in the 1900 Utica Census. Found in the 1915 Utica Census Ward 8. Found in 1925 Utica Census, Ward 13 at 1200 Leeds St. Said he owned a restaurant. William had been a partner in the Donahue and Glancy's Restaurant, 891 Bleecker Street, Utica, NY. He was educated in Waterville schools and moved to Utica as a young man. After leaving his own restaurant 20 years ago, he was employed by Gigliotti's Restaurant. He was a member of St. Thomas Church. Notes for Margaret Quinlan Donahue: Margaret died unexpectedly while waiting to have x-rays taken in the office of Dr. R.C. Hall, Central New York Power Building, Utica, NY. The 1925 Utica Census, Ward 13 said her sister Mary A. Cain lived with them. Margaret was a member of St. Agnes Church, its Altar Society and the Ladies of Charity. Child of William E. Donahue and Margaret Quinlan Donahue is:

Margaret M. Donahue Leach, B: 19 Oct 1906[20, 21, 22], D: 14 Apr 1993 in New Hartford, NY[4], M: 24 Nov 1938 in St. Agnes Church, Utica, NY. Notes for Margaret M. Donahue Leach: Margaret attended St. Agnes School, Utica Catholic Academy and Mrs. Schuyler's Private Business School. She worked with her husband in the operation of Leach Bros. Plumbing and Hardware for many years. She was a member of St. Thomas Church and the Women's Christian Club of St. Thomas. She was also a member of the Ladies of Charity of St. John and St. Joseph. No children.

Edward F. Donahue-2(John Henry Donahue-1) was born on 24 Oct 1878 in New York State[3, 4]. He died on 23 Nov 1952 in Faxton Hospital, Utica, NY[4]. He married Anna M. McAuliffe Donahue on 20 Jun 1906 in St. Agnes Church, Utica, NY, daughter of John McAuliffe and Johanna Fitzgibbons McAuliffe. She was born on 27 Apr 1884 in Oswego, NY[23, 24]. She died on 01 Dec 1981 in St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Utica, NY[23]. Notes for Edward F. Donahue: Mr. Donahue died after a brief illness. He had been a machinist at Avalon and Duofold Knitting Mills Inc. until his retirement in 1948. He was a communicant of St. Francis deSales Church. Moved to Utica from Waterville at age 12. Notes for Catherine Donahue Giannico: Catherine had been employed by Griffiss AFB for over 10 years retiring in 1962. She was a member of Historic Old St. John's Church.

Notes for Harry John Donahue: Harry was listed as a mill laborer in the 1900 Utica Census. He lived in Utica in 1908. On September 12, 1918 he filled out a World War I draft registration card.

Descendants of John Henry Donahue Generation 2 (con't) The 1920 Census showed he was a inspector for a gun company. Not in the 1924 Utica Directory. Did not show up in the 1930 Census, nor did his wife or son.

Not mentioned in brother Edward's obit in 1952. Child of Harry John Donahue and Anna Donahue is: i. Francis Donahue, B: 1911 in New York State[34].
