Discourses 151 – 200 151. Bliss If you are loved by the Lord, you will be a liberated soul belonging to His inner circle and you will attain eternal bliss by being close to the Lord. Ananda (Bliss) means continuous happiness without any break by misery. Brahmaananda means the continuous happiness of God, which is several times intensive than the continuous happiness of a realized soul here (Manushaananda). Bliss of God is not only continuous but also has the highest intensity. Suppose a person got one lakh rupees ( 1 billion) and another person got one crore rupees ( 1 trillion dollars) by lottery. Both celebrate their happiness on that day continuously. Since their happiness is continuous, it is bliss (Ananda). But there is difference in the intensities of bliss of these two persons. By self-realization, you can get the bliss of the soul (Atmaananda) but that is not the bliss of God (Brahmaananda), which is millions and millions times more intensive. Mere continuity of happiness, which is common in both, cannot be misunderstood to unite both these as one. Actually you are attaining the peace only by self-realization because by this you are detached from the body and the external world for some time by limiting your self to the soul. By this you are avoiding misery and absence of misery is not happiness. Moreover, when you avoid misery, you have to avoid the happiness also in the detachment. In such case you are assuming the peace as happiness relatively with reference to misery. Zero is plus with reference to minus. Such assumed plus cannot be the real plus. Therefore, the peace assumed as happiness in the self-realization is not even the real worldly happiness (Manushaananda) and you cannot think it as Brahmaananda even in dream. Even a saint sitting in the meditation with self-realization enjoying the peace as assumed happiness will suddenly leave that state if you tell him that he got a noble prize for his spiritual knowledge and he starts enjoying the real happiness from that worldly affair! When Uddhava started preaching Gopikas about self-realization to attain constant peace and get rid of the misery caused by separation from Krishna, one Gopika asked him whether such peace is not the silence of a dead body! She told him that even in the misery due to separation from Krishna, bliss is enjoyed by her in the love of the Lord! She concluded that even misery in the love and service of the Lord is the highest bliss, which is far better than the peace of self-realization. Therefore, your aim should not be to attain the bliss from the Lord but it should be your service and love (even if it ends in misery) that gives bliss to the Lord. Then, in turn you will receive the infinite divine bliss since you are not selfish at all in the Nivrutti. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 152. Why the religions separate man from God

Every Religion in this world wants you to get rid of bad qualities at least from today for the admission into that religion which is practically impossible. The reason is that these bad qualities were grown like hills for the past millions of births. This small human life is insufficient even to move them, not to speak of removing them. People can control the bad qualities to some extent by their efforts. These bad qualities are frequently sparking in the minds of even the most pious sages. If one says that he is good and he is devoid of all the bad qualities, it only cheating others, which in turn is cheating oneself. Due to this practically impossible condition, for the religious admission, people have developed allergy towards any religion because the eligibility for admission is impractical. The religious preachers have confused the whole situation by fusing religion and spiritualism. Religion is the context of GOD to establish peace and justice in this world. In this context, you must control your bad qualities so that you will not disturb the peace and justice and will not harm any good person in this world. If you disturb the world by your bad qualities, God will punish you. But, in this context, it is sufficient if you control the bad qualities since you cannot remove them. The Religion ends here. Some religions strictly end here without any spiritualism. The spiritualism is the context in which you have to make efforts to reach God. In this context, you need not even control your bad qualities because, God has no personal objection towards your bad qualities. These bad qualities cannot be obstacles in any manner in this context. Moreover, when you turn these bad qualities towards the God, they become your helpers. Any quality whether good or bad, is created by God only to help you in reaching Him. If you realize the original aim of all these qualities, good or bad, why should you control these qualities, which are with you as a helper? No fool controls his helpers. So, any quality when involved in spiritualism is used for its original aim, it becomes a good quality. So all your qualities become good in spiritualism and you need not put any effort to remove or even control them. When the qualities are not used for their original purpose, they become bad qualities. Therefore, whatever qualities turned towards the world, are bad qualities. In this spiritualism, there is no need of any effort even to control these bad qualities. Then, for what, our effort should be made? Our effort should be concentrated to achieve “Bhakthi” which is the love on God. “Bhakthi” is achieved and is grown by the knowledge of God. For example, you came to know that Bombay City exists. This is the knowledge of existence of Bombay. By this you want to see Bombay. As you know the details of Bombay more and more, your desire to see the city becomes more and more. Knowing details about the Bombay City is again the further knowledge. So, knowledge is directly proportional to desire. First Rukmini heard that there is Lord Krishna on this earth. As she heard more and more about Lord Krishna from Sage Narada, her love on Krishna increased enormously. Narada means he who gives knowledge. Therefore, ‘Jnana”(knowledge) generates and develops “Bhakthi (devotion)”. Due to Bhakthi, the Lord is attained. Gita says the same ‘ONLY BY BHAKTHI I AM ATTAINED’ (‘Bhaktya………’). In the spiritual path all your effort must be concentrated in acquiring the knowledge of

God day by day. Once this knowledge based Bhakthi (devotion) is achieved, your qualities good or bad are immaterial. Whatever may be the vessel, the drink in it is important. The value paid in a hotel is for the drink only. If you have taken a cup of coffee, you are paying the cost of the coffee only whether the cup is made of glass or metal. Similarly, God gives value only for your Bhakthi and not for your quality. I will give a beautiful example here. “Sabari” is with good qualities and offered fruits to the Lord Rama who is Vishnu. A hunter called “Kannappa” gave flesh to the Lord Siva. Sabari reached the ‘World of Vishnu and Kannappa reached the World of Shiva”. Both have reached the same Lord because Veda says, “Shiva is Narayana”. Both of them have been given the similar value by the Lord because in both cases, the intensity of the devotion is the same as both gave even their food without eating. Therefore, this proves clearly that the Lord has no objection for your bad qualities. Hence, all the effort should be only to achieve and increase the intensity of love devotion or Bhakthi on God. It is not necessary to bother about your qualities that are inherent coming from millions of births. They are the born qualities. The tail of the dog is curved. Any effort cannot make it straight. By force, we can keep it straight but it has not become straight. Similarly you can control your bad qualities for not disturbing peace of the world by some force. When you come to God, you come in your natural state because you can deceive the world showing that your banded tail is straight but not the God. Whether the river comes in straight path or curved path, the ocean receives only the water with equality. Similarly, God receives your love irrespective of your quality. He received “Sabari” and ‘Kannappa” equally. Sabari with good qualities and Kannappa with bad qualities reached the same Lord, as their devotion is of same intensity. A piece of gold is wrapped in an old cloth. A stone is wrapped with a metallic foil. Which has more total value? Similarly, the love with high intensity covered even by a bad quality has more total value than the love with lesser intensity covered by a good quality. When the blood flew from the eye of the Lord, the Priest who is a person with good qualities is trying to apply the medicine. But, his devotion is less. In the same situation, “Kannappa” plucked his eyes and donated to the Lord. Kannappa is a person with bad qualities but his devotion is the highest. Devotion is the highest good quality. Now let us evaluate the total cost of the priest and Kannappa. The devotion in Kannappa is +100. The bad qualities in Kannappa are –10. The total cost is +90. The priest with good qualities is +10. The devotion in him is +20. The total cost is +30. So, of the two who is good? Obviously it is Kannappa. Gita says, that, “Even the worst is best by Bhakthi” (Api chet….). Therefore, what is the eligibility for the admission into our religion of Guru Datta? The eligibility is that you should be a living being. Even animals and birds are eligible to reach God irrespective of their qualities. Even serpent, spider and the elephant got salvation in Sri Kala Hasthi. The serpent has all bad qualities. God did not insist the serpent to get rid of all the bad qualities. Even if God says, the serpent is unable to understand put the efforts. When such a serpent is eligible, why not a man? All the people are depressed and dejected with the eligibility conditions stipulated by various religions. For example if an Institution stipulates the eligibility condition as that one should remove his head and come, nobody can be admitted. Similarly the religions stipulate the removal

of all the bad qualities, which is impossible. Only a temporary control is possible which is necessary for you to live in this world with peace. This control is possible. In our religion also we are stipulating this condition, which is possible. So, in our Datta religion, the eligibility condition is that if your bad qualities do not disturb the world, the Lord has no personal objection to them and you need not even control them. Moreover, they will help you in spiritualism. How to turn the bad qualities towards God and make them helpers in reaching the God? There are six bad qualities that are inherent in any living being since millions of births. They are Lust (kama), Anger (krodha), Greediness (Lobha), ego (mada), Blind attraction (Moha) and Jealousy (Matsarya). Anger, greediness, ego and jealousy come under Rajas quality. Lust and blind attraction come under Tamas quality. I give you an example to divert your bad qualities towards the Lord, which can be used as powerful vehicles. Example:- Love in cinema songs can be diverted to the Lord by little change in words. Then, the powerful tune that created sweet feelings in you is now a powerful vehicle to make you to reach the Lord. A film song ‘Churaliya Tumne ……’) instead of ‘Sanam’ replace the word with ‘Hare’. All the sweetness of your mind is now on the Lord Krishna (Vishnu). See how a person, mad after cinema songs become a powerful devotee in his own way without any change! You can sing this as your prayer for which you need not put any effort by force. Your worship should be natural and spontaneous, which alone can be true. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 153. People say that the characteristic of the spiritual path is peace. Is it correct? It is correct to certain extent till you reach the self (Jeevatma) it is correct. But the spiritual journey does not stop there. When you differentiate yourself from your body as pure awareness you will attain peace but you have to go further to reach the ultimate goal, which is the superself (Paramatma). When you are travelling in the path to reach the super self after attaining the knowledge of self, you will loose the peace because that path is full of sacrifice. Sacrifice will disturb your mind because you have to cut all the worldly bonds including the bond with your body and even life. While reaching the self you are eating a sweet, which will give you satisfaction. You cannot have fruit from the Lord again. You have already eaten the sweet and you cannot charge money for eating the sweet. Already you are given the fruit when you attain your self but when you are reaching the Paramatma you are giving the sweet to Him and you have to suffer with hunger. Therefore the Lord will pay you for the sacrifice of the sweet. When you loose the peace the Lord becomes peaceful. Therefore attaining the self by removing the illusion that you are the body etc., is only a half journey. The Lord is called as Atmeswara in Veda, which means that He is the controller of even the self.

In Advaita philosophy you are reaching the self, which is only the intermediate station. Of course you must attain the peace, which gives, you lot of strength so that you will withstand the suffering by sacrifice in the next half of the journey. Sankara stopped by preaching this intermediate station to all the people. When a few people reached this station, then He opened the further path to them only. He swallowed the molten lead and preached to the disciples that He alone is the Lord. They realized the self and reached the intermediate station called Brahman by the path of ‘Aham Brahmasmi’ (I am Brahman). Brahman means simple awareness. The next half path is to reach Lord who is Eeswara. Peace is not the final fruit. Peace is only the intermediate fruit, which gives you the strength in the journey. The fruit given by the Lord is the final fruit, which are peace, bliss and all the eight super powers. If one takes a sleeping tablet, he can get peace during the sleep as well as after awakening. Detachment from the world gives you the peace (Brahman) but the fruit given by the Lord is to remain peaceful, blissful while living in this world and helping the real devotees with the help of the eight super powers (Asta Siddhis). The fruit given by the Lord will give you the real bliss i.e., the entertainment in the life game played by you in this world itself, which is certainly far higher than the peace. Sivoham (I am Eeswara) as told by Sankara is the final goal and not 'Aham Brahmasmi'. Sankara lived in the world and did lot of work. He never sat idle thinking Aham Brahmasmi like the present Advaita Philosophers. Patanjali wrote Yoga Sutras and fixed Eeswara as the final goal. We remember Sankara today as the divine hero but not the other Advaita philosophers. Sankara sacrificed His mother and earning of money for the sake of the mission of the Lord. But the Advaita Philosophers sit in their houses and roll with their family bonds and simply say Aham Brahmasmi. One should become a divine hero like Sankara, Ramanuja, Madhva, Swami Vivekananda etc.; they were dynamic doing the Karma Yoga, which was without any selfishness. Their Karma Yoga was the propagation of the divine knowledge, which is Jnana Yoga but today the Advaita Philosopher is doing Karma Yoga with selfishness for his family bonds only. What is the use of their Jnana Yoga? At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 154. The Fight between Atheists and Theists The atheists believe the logical conclusions based on practical experience and in things present before the eye (perception). The real spiritual knowledge can satisfy all these requirements. The human incarnation of the God is before the eyes. All the bonds with family and wealth are before the eyes and liberation from such bonds called salvation is also before eyes. One can experience God through the human incarnation in this world itself and in this very life itself. Infinite love and bliss derived from the special divine knowledge preached by the human incarnation are enjoyed here itself. Enjoyment of love and bliss is the goal of any worldly bond. This is called Jeevanmukti, which means the salvation here itself while you are alive. Whatever one achieved while alive only,

continues with the soul after the death also. Thus perception is the basis for the invisible future also. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 155. By sacrifice we are unhappy and the Lord is happy. Is it not the sadism of the Lord? The real love requires the unhappiness by sacrifice. In such sacrifice one feels happy since he sacrificed to the Lord. You take the mother. She gives the food to her child and suffers with hunger. But she feels very happy in that suffering. A human being cannot give back any thing for such real love. Even if he gives something i.e., temporary only. But when the real love is proved by the sacrifice the Lord gives the permanent fruit i.e., Brahma Loka. Sakthuprashta gave his food to the Lord in human form though he was not having food for the past ten days. If the guest was an ordinary human being, the guest must have been a sadist, because he never cared about the hunger of Sakthuprastha. But since the guest was the Lord, Sakthuprastha was given infinite wealth in this world and also the permanent Brahma Loka after death. Therefore you must be very careful in fixing the human form of the Lord. Otherwise if the human form is an ordinary human being you are deceived and such a human being is definitely a sadist. The unhappiness in sacrifice and the happiness that neutralizes unhappiness are the characteristics of the path of the sacrifice. The Lord does not insist such path. The path should come from the depth of your heart with full willingness. If you fear for the unhappiness you can never follow that path. When the case comes to your children, you will not put this question because you have real love to them. Are you not sacrificing your food to your child even though you suffer with hunger and feel happy? Since you are not having the real love on the Lord this question is coming to your mind. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 156. Correlating Evolution theory of Darwin and spirituality The main aspect in the theory of evolution proposed by Darwin is that any organ is developed to meet a need. Similarly, any organ is suppressed when the need disappears. In the case of a man the tail disappeared since its use was not there due to the efficiency improved in the hands in driving away the flies. Therefore, evolution based on need is the real guiding factor in the case of living beings. Even in the spiritual field the same basic concept is maintained. When some people found out that the happiness could be obtained through their own materialistic effects, the need for God disappears and therefore, the concept of devotion is suppressed. Such people have become atheists. The so called theists exhibit over development of devotion related to the existence of God basically due to the same requirement of need to take the help of God in their materialistic efforts to derive happiness in the world. Such need-based devotion is spontaneous and natural.

Spiritual preachers based on such need-based devotion can enjoy the spontaneous propagation of their knowledge and fame. But such need-based devotion is not true love to God and therefore God is displeased with it. The real devotion, which pleases God, is only reverse of this, which is the development of devotion in absence of any need from God. Such type of true devotion is opposite to the above spontaneous and natural devotion and therefore a special hectic effort (sadhana) is needed. Only a qualitative minority in the world can appreciate the spiritual preachers based on such devlopment of true devotion. Therefore, a true spiritual preacher will not aspire for fame of the majority, which is not actually possible. The natural tendency existing in the theory of evolution is inherent to the living beings and hence need based devotion appeared in the spiritual field also without any effort. The theory of evolution proposed by Darwin is confined to living beings only. If you consider the evolution of the entire cosmos, Einstein’s theories are also to be considered. The science says that the cosmic energy in the state of invisible waves of high frequency is in space itself. The special theory of relativity proves that the space bends around the object and this shows that the space is nothing but finest form of energy. Hence, there is nothing like nothing (vacuum) even according to the latest science. Such space is the first primordial energy in the subtlest form and this is called as akasha. The visible effects of the primordial energy like light etc are denoted by the word Agni. Vayu (Air), apah (liquid) and prithivi (solid) represent the matter in the three states. From these five elements the life is evolved, which is the plant kingdom (Prithivyah oshadhayah … Veda). Gradually the animal kingdom with the latest human being is evolved. This represents the energy, matter and awareness, which are gradually evolved one after the other. Such evolution is mentioned in Vedas (Akashat vayuh). Since the visible energy like light is produced after the existence of atoms only; the primordial energy, the gaseous state in which the atoms and molecules move freely and the visible energy like light are produced in sequence as per Veda (Vayoragnih). The final conclusion is that energy (primordial), matter and awareness are produced in sequence. Since the nervous energy or awareness is produced from the inert energy functioning in the nervous system by oxidation of oxygen gas, the gradual production of awareness from energy and matter is justified in Veda as well as in the theory of evolution in science. The formation of matter from energy is clearly proved by Einstein through the law of equivalence of mass and energy. Therefore, the theory of evolution proposed by Darwin associated with the Einstein’s theories will certainly prove the evolution of universe from the energy or space in sequential manner. But Veda mentions one more item indicated by the word Atman as the ultimate cause from which the primordial energy or space was generated (Atmana akashah… Veda). You cannot say that the word Atman means awareness here, because, awareness (purushah) is mentioned as the third generated product in the chain of evolution. A generated product in the chain cannot be the first ultimate cause. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

157. Darwins, Einsteins theory and spirituality The formation of matter from energy is clearly proved by Einstein through the law of equivalence of mass and energy. The scientist may say that there is no necessity of the word Atman as the ultimate cause because the meaning of the word Atman can neither be energy, nor matter, and nor the awareness because these three items are already existing in the world. Moreover, energy, matter and awareness are visible items in the light of development of advanced electronic equipments. Even the awareness is visible which is in the form of waves propagating in the nerves found by the latest instruments. Even Gita says this that awareness or soul can be seen by scholars (pashyanti jnanachakshushah). Therefore, the meaning of the word Atman must be unimaginable item, which is not the object of senses, mind, intelligence and even sharp logical analysis (Na chakshushah, aprapya manasa, na medhaya, naisha tarkena… Veda). The best word that can be used to mean such unimaginable object is “wordless” (Ashabda mavyayam… Veda). A negative word like ParaBrahman can also be used which means that which is not Brahman. But the word Atman is used which means the awareness that is pervading all over the human body (sarvam shariram atati iti atma). This word means awareness along with its property of pervasion. An independent existence of awareness pervading the space is not available and hence the awareness pervading in a human body alone should be taken. If you take simply the awareness pervading all over a human body as Atman mentioned here, such a possibility is negated because the awareness in the human body is not an unimaginable object which exists in the beginning of the chain since such awareness already appeared in the end of the chain as the normal awareness or life (purusha). Therefore, the word Atman here means a human being, which is completely different from any other human being, which appeared in the end of the chain of evolution. Such a special human being is the superman or human incarnation like Krishna in whom the existence of the special unimaginable item is inferred. Veda says that the existence of such superman is the basis of the inference of the unimaginable item called as God. But mere Veda cannot stand as an authority because it can be disposed as poetic imagination of some selfish priests to exploit the society in the name of God. Therefore, mere scripture (Shabdapramanam) cannot be the authority. All the authorities (pramanams) are based on perception (pratyaksham) only. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

158. In the chain of evolution, the theory of relativity exists everywhere between the cause and effect In the chain of evolution, the theory of relativity exists everywhere between the cause and effect. Science takes the absolute primordial energy as the ultimate cause and matter and life can be treated as relatively true products of the absolute primordial energy. The ultimate primordial energy is the direct cause of the matter and is the indirect cause of awareness. The theory of relativity applies between primordial energy and awareness also because the intermediate matter is only a relative truth in which the absolute truth is only the primordial energy. Now that we have established that the ultimate cause is God and the primordial energy is His immediate relatively true effect, the entire universe becomes a relative product of God only. The rope gave an illusion of stick and the stick gave an illusion of serpent. Now both the stick and serpent are relative illusions of the absolute primary rope only. The dream is a relative effect of the soul, which is the absolute cause. Similarly, the entire universe is a relative effect (mithya) of the absolute God. Mithya is neither the independently existing truth (sat) nor the non-existing total unreality (asat). The dream does not exist independently without the awareness. You cannot also say the dream is non-existing unreality because it masks the reality and appears to exist as a separate entity other than the soul. Shankara says that mithya means neither existing nor nonexisting (sadasat vilakshana mithya). This means that you cannot even define the relative effect of the unimaginable God. If you analyze, the relative effect vanishes on realization of the cause. If the rope is seen the serpent disappears. If the pearl shell is seen the silver disappears. But here God is not only invisible but also even unimaginable for us. In such a case how the world, which is His relative effect, can disappear in our eyes? If you say that the world vanished in your eyes, it means that your eyes see God. At least if God is imagined by our intelligence, this world can at least disappear in our imagination. Neither the world disappears from our eyes nor it disappears in our imagination. This means neither God is seen nor even imagined. The defect in the above simile is that you (observer) are different from the serpent and silver. But here you are part and parcel of the world and when the world disappears, you will also disappear. Even God is managing His continuous entertainment by seeing the world constantly and the advaitin, who is part and parcel of the world boasts that the world is not existing. The world is relatively true with respect to God and not with respect to an advaitin or any soul. If it is relatively true with respect to yourself, it means that the world is relatively true with respect to itself. It is relatively true with respect to God only. In fact with respect to the world you are a tiny particle and you are almost non-existent. You are just reversing the truth. Even God enjoys continuously maintaining His ignorance experiencing the world as absolute truth. Only in certain special pressing occasions, He realizes the world as relative truth and then does the necessary modifications or violations of nature, which are called as miracles. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

159. The generation of world from God cannot be explained by any example in this world The pot generated from mud and the chain generated from the gold are the examples given in the generation of the universe. In these examples both the cause (mud or gold) and the effect (pot or chain) are knowable items and cannot be applied to God (cause) and universe (effect) because God is unknown or unimaginable and the universe is known or imaginable. The generation of world from God cannot be explained by any example in this world because there is no unimaginable item in this world, which can stand as a simile for God. Every item in the world including the soul (awareness) is imaginable only. Therefore, all these examples are applicable only to the generation of the universe from the imaginable primordial energy, which is the first created item of the universe from God. The generation of primordial energy from God cannot have a simile in this world. The process of generation of knowable primordial energy from the unknowable God is unknowable because any process of generation of any effect from its cause in this world is knowable since both the cause and the effect are always knowable items. This primordial energy is called as Sat (Sadevasomya… Veda), which exists as the first effect with respect to God but it is the first cause with respect to all other items of the world. Since the process of generation of the primordial energy is unknown, it is always taken as the primary cause of the world. It becomes the absolute reality for all the other relative effects (matter and awareness) and hence is called as Sat. It is also called as the relative reality (Asat) as the effect of God, which exists in the beginning of the world (Asadvaidamagraasit… Veda). Thus the primordial energy is both Sat and Asat, which exists in the beginning of the creation. This primordial energy being the greatest item is called as Brahman. God who is indicated by silence only is called as ParaBrahman by Shankara Himself. Shankara said that the awareness becomes Brahman in the deep sleep because the awareness is transformed into the primary energy due to the resting nervous system. Such primary inert energy in the cosmos is called as Brahman and the same primary energy in the human being in deep sleep is called as Atman. Shankara told that Brahman and Atman are devoid of any quality that characterizes awareness and it is called as Nirguna. The functions of awareness cease and hence the activities like thinking (manas), decision (buddhi) and experiencing itself (ahankara) also vanish. Such primary inert energy, which simply stores the information in the deep sleep, is called as chit or chittam or para prakruti. Such primary energy called as Atman functions with qualities in the awakened and dream states as Jeeva. Such soul is unknown to ordinary human beings and is known to scholars (Drushyatetvagraya… Veda, Pashyanti Jnanachakshushah… Gita) and thus it is not unknowable forever to all. Such soul cannot be the God who is unknowable forever to all. Advaitins are confused in this point and say that God is unknown to ordinary human beings and is known to scholars. Veda says that even angels like Yama is unable to know God (Kathametat vijaniyam… ) and does this mean that the scholars are greater than Yama? Gita says that nobody knows God and Veda says that the knower of God is God alone (Brahmavit Brahmaiva…). People misinterpret Gita that nobody among the ordinary people can know God and they misinterpret Veda also by saying that the knower of Brahman becomes Brahman. If you accept such interpretation, you must say that the

scholar who knows Brahman is greater than Yama who declares that even He cannot know God. The Advaita scholar who claims that he knows Brahman shivers even by seeing the messengers of Yama! The Advaita scholar who became Brahman by knowing Brahman must be greater than Hanuman, who does not say that He is Brahman (since he does not know Brahman) and who says that He is only servant of Brahman (Dasoham)! Without touching the unknowable God, Shankara has taken the primordial energy as the meaning of Brahman, which is the primary cause of this world. The primordial energy creates the rest world by the will of the God only because any cause in this world generating the effect is by the will of the God only. Even a pot cannot be produced from the mud if God‘s will is against to it. Hence, in every generation process the real cause is only God even though the apparent cause can be any item of this world. In this sense the creation of the rest world from the primordial energy can be treated as the creation of the world from God Himself. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 160. Atheists and Unimaginable God For theist scholars the unimaginable events in the life indicate the unimaginable God. For devotees the miracles performed by the human incarnations indicate the unimaginable God. For ignorant theists, the devilish people who perform black magic indicate the unimaginable God. For scientists the unimaginable concepts in the deeper planes of nature indicate the unimaginable God. God created the nature, which is partly and superficially imaginable. In the absence of imaginable nature, the very contrast concept of unimaginable nature disappears. If there is no darkness, light will loose its sense. Atheists interpret all the above unimaginable items in other way. The unimaginable events in the life are interpreted as incidents of probable coincidence. The miracles and black magic are interpreted as the usual magic based on the illusion of eyes. The unimaginable concepts in the deeper nature are said to have the future explanations because the unimaginable concepts of yesterday are explained today. Therefore, God established one unimaginable item, which is witnessed by every human being at any time. That is the unimaginable infinite boundary of the universe. Scientists accept that the universe is infinite forever. This indicates the unimaginable God, who is beyond the limits of the universe since He is the cause of the universe. This point is focused in the cosmic vision given by the Lord to Arjuna (Nantostimama…. Gita). At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 161. Lord comes in Human form to preach and uplift the human souls The Lord is giving experience to us in every walk of life about His existence. But, such experiences become weak in course of time due to the petty minds of the human beings. The human mind always takes logic and interprets such experiences as mere accidental situations. Therefore the faith of the theists is not strong. The human preachers are unable

to answer the doubts of these human beings and this further weakens the faith. Therefore, the Lord comes down in the form of a human being as the divine preacher. Thus, there is a bare neccesity for such incarnation. Veda says ‘Yat Saakshat Aparokshat Brahma’, which means that Brahman comes down before the eyes of the human beings. Gita also says ‘Maanusheem Tanumaasritam’ which means that Brahman comes down as a human being. But the human body follows the rules of the nature and is not different from any other human body. The shirt of a king is not different from any other shirt. It can be cut with the help of a blade like any other shirt. The speciality is in the king but not in the shirt. If the Lord wishes, He could take the human body, which has neither birth nor death. It can be a divine body, which appears before all the human beings at different places and preaches, in different languages in the sametime. But, such creation of divine body means that the Lord is going beyond the rules of the nature, which are created by the Lord only. The Lord has such divine power, which can go beyond this nature. Such divine power is called ‘Maya’ and the Lord who is the possessor of such Maya is called ‘Mayee’ as said in Gita “Mayinam tu Maheswaram”. But no sensible administrator will break his own rules when a work is possible within the set up of the administration. There is no need of doing that work by breaking the adminstration. The Lord can achieve the same result by taking several human bodies at a time and from generation to generation. In such way, the administration is not interferred. Therefore, the Lord comes in several human incarnations at a time in each generation and the Viswarupa represents this. In Gita, the prayer on the Viswarupa mentions about several feet, faces and also several stomaches (Aneka Baahoodara Vaktra Netram). Therefore, the present picture of Viswarupa is wrong. It means only the photo of a group of preachers existing at the same time. The word “Udara” (stomach) is not justified in the present picture of ‘Viswarupam’, which is again another mis-perception leading to misinterpretation. Therefore, it is very very clear that Datta means only the human incarnation that came down to preach the true divine knowledge. But, due to natural egoism and jealousy the human beings do not recognize the Lord in the form of a human being. Only very few believed Krishna as Lord. Only very few believed Shirdi Sai Baba as God. When Sai was alive there were few devotees only and no body thought of a temple for Him. Even Butee wanted to build a temple for Krishna only who was a past incarnation. Now there are millions of devotees and lakhs of temples for Sai baba because He is no more a present incarnation. He who wins over the three types of egoism caused by the three qualities (Trigunas) is called as ‘Atri’. He who conquerred jealousy (Asuya) is ‘Anasuya’. Such a devotee only can capture the human incarnation. This is the sense of the statement that Atri and Anasuya attained Datta. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 162. The only knowable experience about God is that God exists

God is always unimaginable and unknowable for any human being under any circumstances because He is beyond the dimensions of space and time and this is very much stressed in Veda and Gita. There is no second thought about this point and Shankara also told the same that God could be understood only in deep sleep. In deep sleep (Sushupti) there is no item that understands (Jnata) because the process of understanding (Jnanam) disappears. When the process of burning disappears, there is no fire. If you say that the process of knowing itself is the knower, then also the knower is absent because there is no process of knowing in the deep sleep. The knower can be no more a knower if the knower loses the process or quality of knowing. Then the knower is converted into inert item in deep sleep. In fact, this is true according to science also because the knower or process of knowing is converted into inert energy in deep sleep. Shankara means by this that God is unknown as indicated by the deep sleep, in which a state of total ignorance remains indicating that any one is totally ignorant about God (Sushuptyekasiddhah…). You cannot say that the knower or the process of knowing (Knowledge) itself is God, because in such case God is not eternal who is daily vanishing (converted into inert energy) and is daily born (inert energy is converted into knower or knowledge). This is not acceptable because God is eternal. To evaluate the unknowable answer, you represent the answer by X and then get the answer for X using the given data. But in the case of God, the answer will be always unknowable and unimaginable only. The link between the unknowable God and the knowable items of the world is also unknowable and hence no related data of God can be knowable. In the problem, since the answer is knowable, the data related to the knowable answer is also knowable with the help of which the knowable answer can be evaluated. But that is not the case with God. Hence, any knowable item of the creation can be made as the representative of God. The only knowable experience about God is that God exists. This is established by the knowable experience of unknowable nature of God. The unknowable nature of God is experienced but such nature cannot be analyzed and hence such nature is always concluded as unknowable. For example a small boy ( Krishna ) lifting up the huge mountain is seen and the existence of the unknowable nature of the boy is experienced. Since, such nature could not be analyzed, it remains always as the unknowable item. Hence, Veda says that only the existence of the unknowable God is experienced (Astetyeva….). Since, there is full freedom in selecting any knowable item to represent God, the best suitable item for explaining the status of the unimaginable God is awareness according to Shankara. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 163. Worship of some body mistaking as God will not be a waste In the spiritual field there is one marvelous advantage. Assume that you have worshipped a human being as God under the illusion that he is the contemporary human incarnation. What is the effect of such mistake? Will it yield positive result or negative result? The answer is that it will not give any negative result but it will yield positive result only,

which may not be the highest. The highest positive result is obtained in the service done to the correctly identified contemporary human incarnation. But just like Sumati (Sumati worshipped her husband Kaushika as God. Kaushika is the greatest sinner and was ready to go to hell. But from such worship of Kaushika, Sumati derived super power to stop the sunrise! Only God controls the sun (Bishodeti suryah … Veda). The wretched Kaushika cannot give such power to Sumati. This power is derived from God only because when Sumati worshipped her husband as God, the worship was aimed at God and not aimed at Kaushika.)achieved partial positive power of controlling the sunrise on one day, you will certainly achieve partial grace of God. Such advantage is restricted to the spiritual field only. In materialistic field if you have served somebody mistaking as the king you will not get any gift from the king. Moreover, the king may scold you for your foolish ignorance. But God who is very generous and very kind is quite different. God will certainly punish the human being who posed as God but you will not be a loser. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 164. Indirect worship of God Vs direct worship of contemporary human incarnation In the indirect worship, the worship is not aimed at the model but it is aimed at the God only. God is pleased to some extent in such worship also because the aim is God only. Of course, in the direct worship God is extremely pleased because God, who always exists in the human form only and receives your service directly. God does not exist in the inert objects (Natasya pratima asti… Veda) but still He is pleased in such worship also because the aim is God only. People worship salagrama (a piece of stone) as a representative model of Vishnu (God). Here, the worship is aimed at Vishnu and not aimed at the stone. Sumati worshipped her husband Kaushika as God. Kaushika is the greatest sinner and was ready to go to hell. But from such worship of Kaushika, Sumati derived super power to stop the sunrise! Only God controls the sun (Bishodeti suryah … Veda). The wretched Kaushika cannot give such power to Sumati. This power is derived from God only because when Sumati worshipped her husband as God, the worship was aimed at God and not aimed at Kaushika. Kaushika was a representative model of God for Sumati like the petty stone (salagrama) representing the all-pervading Lord Vishnu. If that is the power of Sumati obtained from indirect worship of God, what shall be power of a devotee who worships God directly through the service to the contemporary human incarnation? Hanuman worshipped Rama who was His contemporary human incarnation and became God and controlled the sun forever. Veda says that the sun moves constantly due to the fear to God. Even in His childhood He was meditating upon Rama introduced by His mother and the result of that was the power to swallow the sun like a fruit! At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 165. Indirect service to God is a total waste

The unimaginable God requires a medium for expression. When the medium is charged by God the medium is treated as God directly and service to such medium is the direct service to God. When the wire is charged by the current, touching the live wire means touching the current only. But if you touch the picture of a live wire on a paper, you are not touching the current. It is only an indirect representative model of the live wire. Service to the charged medium is called as sakshat upasanam, which is direct service. Service to the representative model is called as pratika upasanam, which is indirect service only. The indirect service is a total waste because neither you are experiencing God in the model nor God is experiencing your service. This second type of worship is the worship of statues of God. Then, why not we do away with this second type of worship? No. It becomes necessary since majority of the human beings does not recognize the contemporary human incarnation due to repulsion between common external media or common external gross human bodies. For such majority, the model worship is maintained so that through such worship, at least the psychological repulsion to the human form is removed because the statues are carved in human form only like Vishnu, Rama, Jesus etc. Some people have repulsion even to the human form in the statue and for such people the Shivalinga, which has no human form, is established. At least the concept of formless God is removed here since Shivalinga has a form. Some worship formless objects like light energy as representative models of God. Some worship qualities like love, bliss, etc as representative models of God. The human body contains awareness (soul), qualities (jeeva), matter (gross body) and energy as the shining and heat of the body and thus is a complete medium. For such psychological treatment of the human beings to remove the repulsion to the human form the rituals in the temples are being carried on even though the service part is a waste. The initiation of life in the statues in the temples indicates the concept of life in the inert material body (statues). This initiation of life (prana pratishtha) advises you to go for the live human form and it does not mean that the same inert statue became alive after such initiation, since no sign of life is witnessed in the statue after such initiation. The ignorant priest says that the radiation of life (pranakala) entered the statue but all this is a brainwash only, since the statue does not even vibrate once. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 166. What ever preached by Jesus and Krishna are about the contemporary human incarnation for the contemporary human devotees Neither Krishna nor Jesus told that since He is the final human incarnation, the future generations should worship His statues or photos only. If that were the truth they could have told this very clearly for the sake of future human generations because they know very well that their human bodies will perish shortly. Therefore, whatever they told about themselves was only about the contemporary human incarnation for the contemporary human devotees. Veda (Ishavasyam) says that the Lord can enter any mini world existing in this infinite

world (Yatkimchajagatyam jagat). The word jagat meaning world appears twice. If the repeated jagat also means infinite world, then the adjective ‘kimcha’ (little) cannot be used for the infinite world. If you say that the little indicates any little object, that little object cannot be the world (jagat) because a little object like a piece of stone is only matter which is one component of the world only. The little world means the human body containing the nine items (five elements and four antahkaranams) which are categorized as apara (eight items which are five elements and three antahkaranams) and para (one antahkaranam which is chittam). Due to the common existence of the nine items the human body is a mini world (pindanda) representing the infinite world (brahmanda). Veda says that any such human body can be pervaded over by the Lord. Here the verb is in future tense (vasyam) and is not in past tense. If you say that the income tax officer can enter any shop, it does not mean that he has entered every shop. Hence, the existence of God in every human being is ruled out and Advaita has no basis. If you say that the awareness existing in living beings is the cause (God) that has entered the effect (creation), this is also not correct. In such case the cause should have been an independent entity and not a generated item. The gold that entered the chain is independent item and is not a generated item in the chain. The awareness in the human bodies existing in the creation is not independent and it is being generated by the combined function of inert energy that is generated by oxidation of food and the nervous system. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 167. The human incarnation is a two (Nara and Narayana) in one system (human body) The Vedic prayer called, as Mantra Pushpam is a clear explanation of human incarnation. The same little world mentioned in Ishavasya upanishat is referred here also, (Kimchitjagatsarvam) which means the human body. Such human body existing now and existed in the past i.e. present and past human incarnations are referred to have the same methodology (Drushyate shruyatepiva). The Lord who imagined this world has entered this world in original state (Tadevanupravishat). But the objection here is that the person imagining can never enter his own imaginary world in his original state just like fire cannot enter water. Here, Veda gives a beautiful simile of the existence of volcanic fire (badabagni) inside the ocean (Samudrentahpratishthitam). For omnipotent God, nothing is impossible and hence any simile in the world suffers limitation. Here, God is told to be pervading all over the body (Antarbahischa) and at the same time God is told to be confined to a particular region of the human body only (Tasyassikhayahmadhye). This means God is confined to His guest room whenever His involvement is not there. In this time the individual soul who is the owner of the house (PA) is dealing with all the worldly matters as usual. The individual soul can alone act as hundred percent ignorant in the worldly matters and therefore, the worldly experience derived out of it is also hundred percent. God being associated with His PA derives that experience and is entertained. The directly super imposed ignorance on God can never be

hundred percent and hence, the worldly experience can never be full. For this reason only God enters the human body in which the individual soul (son of God) who is His best devotee is existing. The Son of God is also equally benefited by the association of God in divine experiences. Thus the human incarnation is a two (Nara and Narayana) in one system (human body). At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 168. The unimaginable knowledge indicates the existence of God in a particular human body like Krishna, Jesus etc Advaita means the unity of two items. If there is only one item the word Advaita has no place because in such case the word ekam (one) is used. When two things exist and become inseparable, then only the word Advaita is used. If you take God and human being separately God is one and human being is one. Current is one item and wire is another item. When the current enters the wire and pervades all over it, the word Advaita is employed. Shock is the property of current, which cannot be directly experienced from the invisible current. When the knowledge contains unimaginable clarity, it creates unimaginable happiness, which is called as bliss. The clarification of the confusion gives the real happiness to the climax. Removal of confusion and ignorance clarifies the soul resulting in bliss like removal of gas and undigested matter from stomach clarifies the body resulting in immense happiness. Such unimaginable nature of the knowledge is the property of the unimaginable God like the shock of the current. But it cannot be experienced directly from the unimaginable God. The unimaginable knowledge indicates the existence of God in a particular human body like Krishna, Jesus etc. Finally, only the existence of God is experienced because the unimaginable God and the unimaginable nature of His knowledge remain always unimaginable. Only His existence is imagined and such existence is called as Sanmatravada (Astityeva… Veda). Since God and His nature remain unimaginable, you cannot say that God is awareness or awareness is His property and therefore the Chinmatravada is not acceptable. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 169. Even angels and sages cannot speak a single word about the nature of God Science is very useful in rejecting any non-God item projected as God by the people who are ignorant of science. For that matter, not only science, even angels and sages cannot speak a single word about the nature of God. It is beyond words and can be best explained through silence only. Lord Dakshinamurthy who is considered to be the best incarnation of Shiva in preaching the spiritual knowledge to even angels and sages explains God through silence only (Maunavyakhya prakatita para brahma tattvam). Shankara used here the word Parabrahman and not the word Brahman. Any greatest item in a category can be called as Brahman. Parabrahman is a negative word indicating that God is not Brahman or God is beyond Brahman. Every word is denied in indicating God

(Neti neti, Yato vachah.. Veda). The silence of Buddha is also the same. Buddha is also the best incarnation of Lord Vishnu to preach the spiritual knowledge. Science also keeps silent about God. In the above prayer of Dakshinamurthy, even Shankara told that God cannot be explained by any word. How can you say that Shankara means the awareness or an individual soul is God? If the individual soul is unimaginable, then, you can say that the individual soul is God. You are the individual soul, which knows itself and items other than itself. Awareness cannot be ignorant of itself and other things also simultaneously. In meditation awareness is ignorant of other things but it is aware of itself. In deep sleep it is neither aware of itself nor aware of other items because it remains as inert energy since the inert energy is not transformed into awareness due to resting nervous system. If you say such inert energy in deep sleep is God, then your argument that awareness is God is contradicted by yourself. You must note one important point here, which is that Shankara used the word Brahman for the individual soul and not the word Parabrahman. Since Brahman means any greatest item in a category, several items can be called as Brahman. Veda, food, life, mind, intelligence, knowledge, bliss, etc were called as Brahman in several places (Brahmaksharasamudbhavam, Annam Brahma, Prano Brahma, Mano Brahma, Vijnanam Brahma, Jnanamantam Brahma, Anando Brahma, etc). All these statements mean that these items are greatest among their own categories. Similarly, the individual soul is greatest among all the items of the creation due to its specific property of knowledge (Jnanitvatmaiva… Gita). At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 170. Reason for suicides in society Smt. Uma Ramanath asked for the reason of Suicides in the society. Swami told like this: I have already explained the main reason for suicide in My divine knowledge. The main reason for suicide is lack of divine knowledge. By divine knowledge one can realize that the main aim of the human life is to achieve the grace of God by pleasing Him and not to achieve the useless grace of any co-human being by pleasing it and not to please one’s own self because such pleasure is not only temporary but also is found illusory on analysis. I gave the example of a student in a college. The academic progress is the main goal. The games are only secondary arranged for a brief change. Similarly all the worldly affairs are only secondary activities arranged by God for a brief change from the main spiritual activity. The illusion of Maya by which, one feels the forms of matter and the qualities of awareness are real. The problems coming up based on such illusion lead to suicide. A person commits suicide for not getting a job. A farmer commits suicide when crop fails. A person commits suicide due to heavy loans. All these cases are due to lack of divine knowledge, since they do not realize the main goal of

human life. They also do not realize that if they believe in God fully and worship Him, such problems will be miraculously solved. God will certainly answer even for your prayers once or twice so that you will follow the spiritual path after experiencing the existence of God and His power. However, you should not make this as the continuous businesses. When the problems are solved, the person is becoming proud in happiness and the two eyes climb the head. After getting job, one feels that he is a big officer controlling the entire world! After clearance of loans and after getting riches, one feels that he is the owner of this entire universe! After receiving good crop, the farmer is indulged in politics and group rivalry feeling himself as the greatest leader! I still remember, in the olden days in My village, the farmers after receiving good crops were indulged in doing Bhajans etc. Similarly a boy or a girl failing in love commits suicide due to lack of the main aim of the life. He or she does not know that the beauty is only an unreal design of matter and energy. If matter and energy are separated which are the real entities, the love vanishes! When the entire world becomes one family irrespective of caste, religion, nationality etc., people will help each other in solving the problems. The best and real worship is to help a devotee suffering with a specific problem. Trying to solve that problem within the limits of your capacity is the best worship. To stress this aspect only, God was pleased to receive the required service in specific problem. When Rama lost Sita and was searching for her, your worship to the Lord should be in line of search for Sita. He will be pleased by such worship. What is the use of putting flowers on Him, feeding Him with sweets etc., when He is worried for Sita? Worship means the service which you can do to the Lord in human form to please Him in His specific problem. By this the Lord indicates that you should help all the devotees in their specific problems. Such mutual help is the real worship and this is the main aim of the Lord. Such divine society is the fruit of the divine knowledge from the Lord. You should be careful about the egoism that may enter your brain after doing the help. You should say that your help is due to the power of God only. When you say this, you should be sincere from the bottom of your heart because it is the actual reality. By such statement, the other person should feel that he should also get the favour from the Lord through divine service to Him. Then he will also do the same service to other devotees. Such a divine society consisting of the entire population of the world is the dream of My divine knowledge. Such mutual help integrated with divine knowledge can certainly eliminate suicides. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 171. God do not get modified into human body when He comes in Human form I know that you are worried that the Lord perhaps gets modified into the human body and thus the unchangeable Lord undergoes a change. Do not worry about this point, because the Lord is never modified into the human body. He only enters into the human body. The word ‘Ashritam’ in the verse of the Gita “Manushim tanumashritam” means the entry of

the Lord into the human body and not the modification of the Lord into a human body. This is clarified by Lord Krishna in the Gita in the verse “Avyaktam Vyaktimapannam”. When a person says that he was sent by God as a messenger and that He has brought the message of the Lord, again the same problem appears. When God is giving the message to that person, nobody has seen it. That person is the single witness. Now the only alternative left in order to believe that the knowledge was given by the Lord Himself, is that we have to test the knowledge. Had we seen the transfer of the knowledge from God to that person with our eyes, we need not have tested that knowledge. It must definitely have been the divine knowledge. If we have to believe a statement of that person without the simultaneous universal perception, then we have to believe even a fraud person who utters the same statement. If you give us a piece of metal and say that is gold, since it was given by God, we cannot believe it. Either we must have seen God giving it to you or we must analyse the metal. Moreover the knowledge is not like the piece of metal, which will not change by transfer. When a teacher explains a concept to somebody and asks him to deliver it to his students, it cannot be transferred as it is. The transfer of knowledge consists of not only the concept but also the explanation. The concept might have been transferred but nobody other than that original teacher can give the same way of explanation of the concept by which the concept pierces into the heart. Therefore to propagate the divine knowledge, the Lord Himself comes down in a human form. Arjuna said the same in the Gita “Tvadanyah…” which means that except the Lord, nobody can preach the divine knowledge and clarify all spiritual doubts. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 172. The importance of spiritual preacher Smt. Uma Ramanath asked about the importance of spiritual preacher (Guru). Swami gave the following reply: A lecturer in Government College will teach you the syllabus and at the same time acts as the invigilator, valuer of the paper etc. and finally you are getting a valued degree from the college. Similarly, the Lord acting as Guru preaches the spiritual knowledge, guides you practically, tests your knowledge in practice and finally gives you the suitable divine fruit. A teacher conducting tuition home is just teaching you and is not connected to the examination, degree etc. Similarly, a human being acting as Guru preaches you the spiritual knowledge and not concerned with your practice and its fruit. The human guru may be able to deliver the knowledge of Satguru (Lord acting as Guru) as it is, but cannot clarify your doubts in the practical field as effectively as Satguru does. If you are hearing the speech through a tape recorder, the clarification of doubts is not possible. Even in the speech, some parts may not be clear to you due to the defects in your grasping power only. The human guru serves as a messenger of the Lord only. He is

just like a postman. Therefore, the guru you referred in the Sanskrit verse uttered by you means only Satguru. However, Satguru is not frequently available. Still the Lord will clarify your doubts through some body since the Lord has the super power. Therefore, you need not worry that your doubts will be remaining without clarification in the absence of Satguru. The Lord is always ready to explain your doubts either directly or indirectly. If you deserve to go to the upper level, you will certainly rise to the upper level by the direct or indirect guidance of God. However, if you are not capable of rising to the higher level, what is the use of even meeting Satguru directly? Therefore, you should not worry about the availability of Satguru. You should worry only about your spiritual progress to rise to the higher level and you must concentrate on removing the hurdles in your spiritual progress. If you are a tenth class candidate and even if you meet the president of the country, he can give you only the post of a peon. If you have passed I.A.S examination, the appointment order for the post of District Collector comes to your home. Sri Rama Krishna Paramahamsa told that one need not search for Guru. God will send Gurus of various levels as and when you reach those levels. When you are ripened, Satguru will contact you at once. You may miss Satguru in your search. But Satguru will not miss you when the proper time comes. Satguru cannot do any good to any undeserving fellow. For the sake of majority, Satguru will not come down because He is not bothered about the fame. Krishna preached hundred Kauravas but of no use. Only the five Pandavas followed Krishna as their Satguru. Sakuni could become Satguru for Kauravas. But finally both the Sakuni and Kauravas were destroyed. A teacher in bogus institution gets you a bogus degree which has no value at all. Therefore, the Lord as Satguru and devotee of the Lord as a human guru are good. But the fraud Guru will destroy himself and yourself. It is better to confine to your family if you are not getting Satguru but you should be never trapped by a fraud Guru. Satguru is the Lord in the human form. You should not see the external human form and should view the Lord only in Him. In the case of human guru, there is no Lord in him but you can treat the external human form as the possessor of power of God. In the first case you should understand the Lord as Guru and in the second case you should understand the Guru as the Lord. There is a difference between God as Guru and Guru as God. Your husband says “Guru Deva Datta” whenever he speaks to Me. The word Guru Deva has two meanings as per the Sanskrit Grammar. In one meaning God is treated as Guru and in the second meaning the Guru is treated as God. There is difference between these two meanings. The second word “Datta” clarifies that the first word is used strictly in the first sense only. Datta means God given to you in human form for the sake of your guidance. Guidance should be essential for your practice. Even clarification of your theoretical doubts should lead you to practice. Unless theory is clear practice cannot start. If there is no practice the entire theory is waste. If the theory is perfect, the practice is spontaneous. Therefore, the clarity in the theory and clarification of your doubts is very very important. Without understanding this, people mock at theory and stress on practice. Without complete and perfect theory, the practice cannot begin. Sometimes people practice due to fear or due to ambition for fulfilling the desires. The Satguru will never base on these two paths of fear and ambition. The false Guru exploits the people using either fear or ambition or both for some selfish gain like money, fame etc. But the followers are utterly

deceived because such practice is not giving any good and complete fruit. Satguru leads you to goal without any long time and deep strain. Suppose you have a bad quality like rigidity. Due to the same quality Duryodhana went to hell and Gopikas went to highest divine abode. In the first case rigidity was applied to worldly affairs (Pravrutti). In the second case the same quality is applied to the spiritual line (Nivrutti). A Satguru will direct your existing bad qualities to the spiritual line and will see that you will use those qualities positively for your real welfare. An ordinary human being acting as Guru will advise you to come to the spiritual line after removing bad qualities. The innocent and ignorant Guru does not know that millions of births are required even to shake a bad quality which was accumulated form the beginning of creation. This is the difference between a Satguru and human Guru. Satguru generates the divine knowledge. The human guru carries on that knowledge in-to-to. Sometimes a practical problem arises in your spiritual path. The solution for that problem needs generation of divine knowledge, which is impossible for the human Guru. Therefore, if you get Satguru you are very lucky. But, if you do not use His guidance due to your blind attractions, in such case Satguru is useless for you like Sun for a blind man. If you have the maturity of mind to use the guidance, God will speak to you even through the human guru. Therefore, your determination to achieve the goal is the most important factor. If you have such determination, God will approach you in some human form and will guide you properly. Therefore, the problem lies on your side and not on the side of Satguru. How much lucky we are! We are directly talking with the Lord and getting the perfect spiritual guidance. The Lord is staying in My human body. There is no trace of any doubt about this. When the devotees were calling Me as Lord Datta, I was confused and was very careful about the egoism that may trap Me. But slowly, I am convinced with this point on doing analysis from several angles. This wonderful divine knowledge cannot come from any human being except Lord Datta. These wonderful devotional songs which came spontaneously cannot be composed by any soul except Lord Datta. The vision of cosmic form (Viswa Roopam) can be given only by the Lord and such vision was given to two devotees simultaneously (Ajay and Seetamma) through this human body by Lord Datta. By the age of 16 years who can write hundred philosophical books in Sanskrit except Lord Datta through this human body? Lord Datta entered this human body even in the womb of My mother. Once My mother was telling Me that when she was carrying Me, she used to often get dreams in which she was finding various deities (various forms of God) with temple-bells ringing constantly. There were two black-magicians in My village, who killed about hundred persons and three hundred children through their black magic in our village. In our joint family seven male issues before My birth were also killed by their black magic. The day I was born, both those demons were killed in violent way. All these factors led Me to conclude that the Lord is staying in My human body for His divine work of propagation of divine knowledge. I am just like all of you and there is no specialty in Me and no special favour is done to Me. The Lord is the speaker I am very very near to Him holding on the mike

before His mouth. All His speech is common to all of us. After the war Arjuna asked Krishna to repeat Gita. Krishna expressed His inability to repeat because He also heard Gita from the Lord like Arjuna. When Arjuna pressed, Krishna told Gita again. But the second Gita (Anu Gita) stands nowhere before the first Gita. This is the concept of the human incarnation. The Lord enters the human body of a human being. The guest (Lord) and the owner of the house (devoted human being) are like the two birds and the body is like a tree. Like this Veda says (Dvaa Suparnaa). When the Lord said the first Gita, it is mentioned that the Lord spoke (Sri Bhagvan Uvacha). It is not said that Krishna spoke. Therefore, let all of us follow the Lord’s divine knowledge and get the eternal benefit. The Lord has to enter some human body and He entered this human body accidentally or incidentally. The divine knowledge spoken by the Lord (Satguru) is the guiding force, which clarifies all our doubts leading to determination, which results spontaneously in practice. Satguru is the Lord in human form like Krishna. Even a liberated soul can be Satguru because He is directed by the Lord. He speaks as per the will of God. Swami Raghavendra, an incarnation of Prahlada is also a Satguru. He will speak whatever Lord wants to speak and thus there is no difference between the Lord and such top most devotees. In olden days the Guru tests the level of the devotee and used to expose that much knowledge only which is related to his level so that the devotee gets benefit. This is called as “Anubandha Chatushtaya” which means the level of the devotee (Adhikari), the portion of the knowledge (Vishaya) that is related to him (Sambandha) and the benefit (Prayojana). Suppose there are three devotees on the ground. One can climb ten steps only. The second one can climb fifty steps and the third devotee can climb all hundred steps. The Guru reveals ten steps only to the first devotee and says that the tenth step is the final step. If you reveal even the eleventh step he will be discouraged. Similarly for the second devotee only fifty steps should be revealed. For the third devotee the entire knowledge can be revealed. But at present the Lord is revealing the entire divine knowledge through this computer. It is just like the booklet showing all the courses present in the University. According to the level one has to select the course. This facility was not there in the olden days. One need not be discouraged because if you are constantly putting the effort to climb the steps continuously, God will sanction any number of human births to reach the goal. The spiritual path has no physical significance. It is not like the journey to Bombay which needs the help of vehicles. The whole journey is related to your psychology or mental setup which should act with full determination. The determination will spontaneously come through complete and real divine knowledge. The real knowledge can alone clarify all the doubts. When no doubt is left over the knowledge is complete, which immediately results in determination. Therefore, Guru is more important than even the God is because Guru is the guide and God is the goal. When God Himself comes to you as Guru, there is no need of any journey. He will guide you so that you will recognize Him. But His guidance is always delicate and critical because there is always a risk of your misunderstanding about Him. If somebody guides you to Him, such risk is not there. But such guidance will not be as clear as His guidance. Therefore, the issue gets mixed up.

When you recognize the God in human form, your concentration should be on the God present in Him. Since you cannot directly experience God, the medium is necessary. When you are experiencing God through the human form, the awareness of the external human form should disappear. When you touch an electric wire, your awareness is about the shock of current but not about the structure of the wire. Therefore, you have to see the aspect of God in Satguru and treat Him as directly the God (Guruh Sakshat Parabrahma). This means that you should find only God in Satguru. The case of a human Guru blessed by God is like the hot iron wire in the heater which was heated by the electricity but the current is put off. The effect of the current, which is the heat, remains in the wire. The heat burns your finger but does not give a shock. Similarly, the human incarnation of a liberated soul has the power of God, though not directly God and is called as Guru. The third example is the wire in which neither the electricity nor the heat exists. To develop concentration in one direction you can treat such wire also as God and such worship is called as representative worship (Pratika Upasanam). There is no fruit from the object but there is fruit in the subject which is the development of concentration. The first two cases are direct and indirect worship of God resulting in the achievement of fruit from the object. For the representative worship you can select any human being you like as your Guru which has also the advantage of development of concentration in yourself. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 173. The defect always lies on your side only in implementing spiritual knowledge in practice It is unnecessary for you to analyze whether the human form is God or a liberated soul. You should be always concerned about the suitability of the preacher (Guru) to your level and thus there is no need of analyzing the Guru. The system of spiritual preachers is one unit headed by God like the group of teachers in a college headed by the principal. You will get the teacher suitable to the level of your class. The principal is also the teacher who can visit any class or may teach a particular class also. The principal is not only responsible for the teaching in his class, but also has a total responsibility over all the teachers to verify whether the teaching is correct or not in the various classes. You need not worry about the responsibility of your class teacher as well as the principal. The principal is well aware of his responsibility and is powerful to implement his responsibility. He is always doing the overall supervision of the entire school. His meetings with other teachers are not conducted in your presence since it is totally unnecessary for you. You may doubt the overall supervision of the principal in his duty. But you need not have any trace of doubt regarding God who is omnipotent and omniscient. The defect always lies on your side only in implementing spiritual knowledge in practice. A student who is not studying well finds fault with the teacher and reports to the principal. 174. Realization Realization is the stage of determination in the knowledge. The liberation is its practical consequence. The realization should be based on the right knowledge so that the liberation is really attained as the immediate consequence of the right knowledge. Suppose you are bound by a rope. Suppose you find a knife very near to you, which can be taken by your mouth and the rope can be cut. Such right knowledge gives you the liberation. The determination to use the knife leads to implementation and the fruit is liberation. Suppose the knife has no sharpness. In such case the determination, implementation cannot give the result. Suppose the knife is just made of a piece of pad, then also no liberation is possible. Thus if the right knowledge is not intensive or if the knowledge is twisted and wrong no liberation is possible. Therefore the most important thing for liberation is not the realization only but it should be the right intensive knowledge given by the Satguru. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 175. The human life is neither for doing good deeds nor for doing bad deeds Gita says that a realized soul who uses the analysis by intelligence leaves the concepts of both happiness obtained by doing good deeds and misery obtained by doing bad deeds (Buddhi Yukto Jahatiha Ubhe Sukruta Dushkrute). This means that you are trying for the temporary happiness of heaven and trying to avoid the temporary misery of hell here as well as in the upper world. This means that if you are analyzing the scriptures with sharp logic to realize the ultimate goal of the human life, you will not be interested in neither happiness nor in misery during the life as well as after death. The ultimate goal of life is not anything related to your self, because it is aimed at pleasing the creator since the original aim of this creation is only the pleasure of the Lord through entertainment. Therefore, the original aim of yourself, other selves and the entire universe is only to serve the Lord and please Him. Then, you will be blessed by the Lord with His eternal divine grace and your life is fulfilled. Therefore, the human life is neither for doing good deeds nor for doing bad deeds and it is also not for enjoying the good fruits or bad fruits. You are wasting the human life in doing good works and some times doing bad works due to the force of your ignorance. By this very little time is left over here to serve the Lord. If this little time is also used for enjoying good and bad fruits, no time is left for you to do the service to God and get His blessings. Hence, to save at least this little time for realization of spiritual knowledge and subsequent involvement in the divine service, at least the enjoyment of good and bad deeds is postponed to a latter time and at a latter place. The latter time is after death and latter places are hell and heaven. This is the reason for creation of hell and heaven separately to enjoy the results after death.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 176. Purpose of human life In the materialistic plane one person says that the aim of his life is to achieve a particular post and then help his family members. Some other person says that the aim of his life is to serve the mankind. We appreciate the second aim as higher than the first one. The highest aim of the human life can be known only in the spiritual plane. The sole aim of this creation is pleasing God through the entertainment. Every human being is a part of the creation and so the same aim applies to every human being also. The human being becomes fruitful if it serves the Lord and pleases the Lord through the service. Service means the sacrifice of work and sacrifice of the fruit of the work. Service is the proof of the real love. The mother serves her child by sacrificing lot of work like giving bath, dressing etc., for years together continuously. The father serves the child by sacrificing the fruit of all his hard work to the child. It is a clear practical point that the proof of the real love is only service. If you serve your family you love your family. If you serve the entire world you love the creation. If you serve the creator, you love the creator. It is a very simple point. Love is the attraction of mind towards anybody or anything. When the illness attacks the body you take so much care to serve your body. You love your body. Similarly you serve your father, mother, wife and children because your mind is attracted towards them. What is the first pre-requisite for this love? When you love your child, you are aware that a particular small living being is your child and you have the differentiating knowledge of your child from other children who are similar. Similarly, when you love God you must be aware of the form of God, who must be differentiated from other forms as your child is differentiated from other children. You are identifying your child by certain special characteristics like shape of the face, voice etc; you are not recognizing your child by the clothes, which it puts on. Other children put on such clothes also. Similarly, you must distinguish the Creator from the creation and then only love the creator. You cannot love the entire creation as the creator. Do you love all the children as your own children? Therefore, the pre-requisite of love is the true knowledge and the inseparable identifying characteristics of an object by which you get attracted towards it. Therefore, what is the real form of God? And how it differs from other forms? What are the inseparable identifying characteristics of God? The answers for these questions constitute the detailed true knowledge of God. Only such true knowledge generates attraction and love. When you know the separate special details of Bombay, which are not seen in any other city, then only you are attracted to Bombay and like to see it. Before proceeding to the identifying true knowledge of God, you must also know the purpose of your attraction towards an object. You love your child, and there is no purpose in it. You also love a doctor when you are ill. But that love is not real. It is not love at all. It is only artificial apparent love exhibited for a purpose. You want the doctor to help you. Therefore, true love is that when there is no purpose in it. False love is that in which

purpose is present. Generally almost all the people love God because God is omni-potent. He has miraculous powers to do anything, which is impossible for any body on this earth. When a problem comes and when one fails to solve it by all the means existing in this world, one starts loving God to solve that unique problem. Therefore, you love the position or power of God and not the God. A poet shows lot of love and appreciation on a king in his spontaneous poetry because the poet loves the power and the wealth of the king. He expects the king to donate some land or to give him some money after being pleased with his poems. The poet does not love the person who is the king. He loves the king only. Will he write the same poems if the king looses his kingdom and becomes a beggar? In his poetry the poet praised that the king is very beautiful with sweet voice and infinite wisdom. These qualities still remain with the king even if he has become the beggar. But the poet does not praise the same qualities of that beggar because the beggar cannot donate anything to him. The post of the king and the kingdom are separable characteristics, whereas the qualities are inseparable characteristics. You can easily identify the person by these inseparable characteristics and if your love on Him is real, you will love him whether he is a king or a beggar. Are you not loving your son and praise him whether he serves you or not? Sita garlanded and married Rama who will be the future king of Ayodhya. The love of Sita may be on Rama only or may be on the kingdom of Ayodhya for which she can become queen or may be both put together. Rama tested her love by discarding the kingdom and by going to the forest. Sita followed Rama to the forest. Her love was only on Rama and not on the kingdom. Ravana further tested this. Ravana offered her to become the queen. But she refused. Therefore, the love on God should be analyzed and should be decided whether God is loved or His omnipotent miraculous power is loved for our advantage. Some people want to take advantage in this world and some others want to take the advantage in the upper world so that they can be protected from the hell. In both cases the love on God is not true. It is only the love on his associated power. Sankara says that the true love on God should not have any desire related to this world or to the upper world (Ihaamutra Phala Viragah). If the love is on the power of the God only what is the use of the real form of God or the inseparable characteristics of the God? The poet loves anybody as the king. For him anybody on the thrown is beautiful and is very wise. In such case if the king donates the desired land or cash by seeing the poem written by a poet, the poet does not bother to see or talk with the king. Therefore, when we love God’s power for some advantage, we need not worry about His form or in seeing or talking with God. You can just chant the prayers. He responds to your prayers and your desire is fulfilled. In such case one need not see the God and the God also does not want to see his or her bloody face. When a mother wants to see her child, she is not thinking about any advantage out of it. In fact the mother presents some cash to the son as a gift and if the son needs, she will even sell all her jewels and sacrifice for the sake of her son. Similarly, if the person is having true love on God, that person wants to see God not for any advantage, but even at the cost of disadvantage. For such person only God appears and such person only can see, talk, touch and can even live along with the God. For such persons only there is need of

the enquiry of the real form of God. The real form of God is unimaginable as said in Vedas and there is no question of seeing or talking or touching the God. Gita also says that nobody can know God (Mam tu Veda Na..). Such unimaginable God cannot be said to have a form or formless. The Creator is beyond the creation, which is a four-dimensional network of space and time along with matter and energy. The creation contains both formless items like space, energy and air and also formful items like water, earth etc. If you say God as formful or formless, then God becomes a part of the creation and not beyond the creation. Veda says that no item in the creation including the pure awareness or life energy is God (Neti, Neti…). But there are real devotees who have real love towards God and want to see, touch, talk and live along with God for no selfish advantage either in this or in the upper world. The God who has infinite kindness and infinite love cannot reject such real love. The God is omni-potent and can satisfy the desire of such real devotees and the real devotees are crying for such fortune of vision etc. The God is capable and the devotee deserves. Nobody can put his finger between these two. To satisfy the real devotees God comes in human form and all these four fortunes are blessed upon the real devotees. If God comes in the form of space or energy, which is formless or in the form of statues, He cannot grant these fortunes. He can talk, touch and live with the devotees when He comes in the human form only. Only the human body can do such things as per laws of nature. The nature is His creation and the laws of nature are the rules of His own administration. He will not violate these rules except in the case of inevitable emergency. Why should He use His special power (Maya) and talk or touch or live with you in the form of space or energy or statues? When the purpose is served through the normal routine, why are you so rigid about the abnormal way? God need not heed to the foolish rigid behaviour of some human beings. Infact they want to pray the formless God or God in the form of a statue for the sake of their selfish convenience only. You can offer food to formless God or statue and then you can eat the entire food. You are satisfied as if you have given meals to God and at the same time not even a grain of rice is lost. There are many inconvenient losses and troubles with the human form of God. But the real devotees are not worried about such loss and infact they are happy to loose if God can enjoy by that. They feel happy when God eats that food. The mother visits her son and pays him some cash. When the son is happy with that she derives infinite happiness and does not feel it as a loss or trouble. The mother will stay with her son and serve him day and night if necessary and feels very happy about it. Similarly, these real devotees feel happy to serve the Lord and they are happy about the loss incurred in it. Lord came to the human form as Krishna for the sake of Gopikas only and not for others. Only Gopikas could recognize Him and served the Lord by offering butter and they felt happy in such sacrifice. They did not feel such sacrifice as loss. Krishna was not their child. But they loved Him more than their children. They did not give butter even to their own children and offered it to the Lord. Their love to God crossed even their love to their children. When such real love exists, God comes in human form and reveals His identity

to you. Your love must be real and must be practically proved by the sacrifice of work (Karma Sanyasa) and sacrifice of fruit of work (Karma Phala Tyaga) as emphasized in Gita. Sacrifice of words, mind and intelligence, which are freely supplied to you by God is like offering drinking water to the guest, which was freely supplied by the municipality. But sacrifice of work and fruit of work are like offering the meals to the guest and it is sacrifice of your hard-earned money. Of-course the meals must be associated with drinking water also and at the same time mere drinking water is almost nothing. Sacrifice becomes complete, which is the complete proof of your real love only, when you sacrifice mind, words, intelligence, work and fruit of work. Sacrifice of words is prayer and sacrifice of mind is meditation, sacrifice of intelligence is the spiritual discussion. Therefore, meditation alone is the sacrifice of the mind i.e., supplied freely by God. Sacrifice of anything, which is hard earned by your work, is the real main sacrifice. When the Lord exposes Himself as the source of all infinite super natural powers, all the people will run to Him with same speed and will sacrifice to their maximum. In such case you cannot differentiate the real devotee from a fraud devotee. The reason is that the super natural power attracts all the people with equal force. When acids are dissolved in water they show equal strengths because water being high polar solvent attracts the hydrogen ions from all acids equally so that their extent of ionization becomes same. The strong acid cannot be differentiated from a weak acid. This is called as leveling effect. When the same acids are dissolved in glacial acetic acid, which is a weak solvent, the acids will ionize to different extent as per their inherent nature. When an official asks for some amount of money, all the merchants will run to him with equal speed and give that amount. In this case you cannot differentiate the real donor from the real greedy merchant. But when a beggar begs for some money, a real donor donates whereas a greedy person refuses. The real nature of the individuals comes out in the case of the beggar only. Similarly, when God comes in human form and exhibits the super natural powers all the people rush to Him with equal speeds and show equal love on God. Even if God recognizes the real devotee by His power and rewards him, the other devotees will find fault with the God. They will argue that even though the extent of devotion is equal, the Lord showed partiality. Therefore, God in human form will not exhibit miracles and will exhibit only His inseparable special knowledge, which projects Him as Guru only and not Bhagavan. Datta means God donated to the devotees in human form. His right half is Guru and the left half is Bhagavan. The right half is only projected and the left half is hidden. In such case only the real devotees can be filtered. It is easy to approach the human incarnation and praise Him as God. But the most important part is to retain the same faith through out the life. When Datta becomes inconvenient in practical way the faith should persist. The faith should be practical and permanent. The recognition of human incarnation must be done with the help of the sacred scriptures like Vedas, Brahma sutras and Gita. You must take a long time to decide the human incarnation. Once you have decided you must stick to that in spite of all the troubles and inconvenience, which you face practically. There is no use of catching

somebody in haste and then withdraw by the next day. You will continue like this through out your life. Therefore, you must study all the scriptures and be thorough with the divine knowledge, which generates the devotion or love. If your devotion is real you must prove it by your service. The real love is only one-way traffic. Attaining the God, seeing Him and talking with Him are useless. Demons have seen and talked with God by doing long penance. What is the use of it? They were finally destroyed. Even if you don’t see or talk with God, if you please Him through your proven real love, you are blessed. Rama never saw Lord Siva. But He was blessed. Ravana saw and talked with Siva, but was destroyed. Therefore, pleasing the Lord should be our final aim and not mere vision or conversation. If your aim is only to solve your problem in this world or in the upper world or in both, you have nothing to do with the formless God or form of God. Your work is done when you pray for it sincerely. But mind that your sincerity is not on God but it is on the solution of your problem. God in a temporary way only does the solution for your problems, which is not good for you in the long run. He postpones your bad results and brings your good results from the future births. By this, you have to enjoy the results of the deeds, which you have done and you cannot enjoy the results of the deeds, which you have not done. It is like sending your application to the officer through a peon paying the necessary amount and getting back the application with the signature of the officer. You have nothing to do with the personality or qualities of the officer. But when a girl loves the officer, she likes to see the personality and know about his qualities. His position as an officer is only one of the several aspects. Often, she neglects this aspect of the post, when the personality and qualities attracted her. Similarly, a real devotee feels happy by knowing the details of God and he is not worried about the benefit from the God. In such case, the Lord enjoys the bad results of that real devotee and gives him eternal happiness. Some people are not bothered about God and go on doing the worldly works continuously. They believe in themselves only. Such people are either athiests or just neglect the God. But the so-called devotees also do not love the God really. They show false love on God and all their real love is only in the solutions of their problems. They want to visit the Lord and try to show their anxiety about the personality of the Lord. All that is only to please the Lord who may be helpful in the future problems. These devotees are also not better than those atheists in any way. But the Lord allows these devotees because there is a hope of change in their attitude and become the real devotees. Prahlada was always absorbed in the personality of the Lord and did not ask for any help even in the torture. He was only remembering the Lord in such situation. Hanuman served the Lord Rama not for any gift in return. In fact when Sita gave the chain of pearls, He broke those pearls to see Rama in those pearls. Rama never announced the gift given to Hanuman and Hanuman never aspired for any gift. Rama gave the post of creator of this world and the matter was not revealed to anybody. By revealing that, Rama never wanted to pose Himself as the Lord. Hanuman was not even aware of that post because His mind was only on the personality of Rama. Similarly, Radha never aspired for any thing and she was given a special top most world (Goloka). Arjuna had partial devotion and therefore,

the final fruit was partly happiness and partly misery. Duryodhana invited Lord Krishna for a big feast in His honour. Krishna never attended it and finally destroyed them. All the respect and love shown by Duryodhana were only to exploit Lord Krishna in the war. When Krishna was found useless for him, he was angry with Krishna and tried to chain Him. This shows that he did not even recognize Krishna as the Lord. Therefore, the Lord gives vision, conversation and co-living etc., only for the real devotees who do not aspire anything in return. The worst devotees want practical fruits from the Lord by serving Him through words, feelings and intellectual discussions. The middle class devotees sacrifice practically for the Lord and aspire practical results in return. These types of devotees are businessmen and the above type of devotees are prostitutes. A businessman invests some amount and tries to get back more amounts in return. A prostitute tries to earn the amount from a person without ordained any amount and ordained only sweet words, sweet feelings and artificial discussions. The last type of devotees serves the Lord practically and do not aspire any result from the Lord either theoretically or practically. For such devotees only the Lord comes in human form and gives His experience to them and save them in this and as well as in the upper world. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 177. The Lord has guts to say the truth even if it is not liked by anybody The knowledge should be in the view of the permanent welfare of the soul and not in the temporary sweet-coated poison. The Lord in human form differs in this point. The Lord has guts to say the truth even if it is not liked by anybody (Satyam Jnanam –Veda). But the human preachers aspire for money and fame and therefore they twist the knowledge to suit to the liking of the soul and get their personal benefits. The Lord does not need such benefits. Even the messenger from the Lord will do his duty perfectly. He will deliver the knowledge given by God as it is. Suppose you are paid the total salary of your entire life in the beginning itself and the shop owner asks you to sell an item. Suppose nobody is coming or only very few are coming. The employee should not bother about the business. If the employee is receiving monthly salary, he may fear that if the business is not taking place, his salary may be affected. God gave the true knowledge to Jesus and asked Him to propagate and He assured the reward for it to give place to Jesus for sitting on His right side. Now, Jesus has guts to deliver the knowledge as it is because the salary was already assured. He need not worry about the business. Therefore Jesus told that unless one leaves the parents, wife and children and even the life, the soul cannot become His dearest disciple. He told that He came with the sword to destroy peace in the family. He told that He will split the family. He told that by His knowledge, the youngsters will rebel against the elders. Even on the cross, He did not change the version of the Bible. An ordinary human being cannot tell such pungent truth. Lord Krishna asked Arjuna to

kill his grandfather and all his relatives and for this purpose only the entire Gita was preached. The Lord shows the ultimate truth to be fixed as the goal so that one can achieve at least pass marks. If the pass marks are the goal, the student fails. When the knowledge of Jesus and Krishna are kept as goal, at least the blind attraction on the family and relatives decreases to some extent. Since the Lord does not require any benefit from you, He will not mind to reveal the ultimate truth. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 178. God can enter through the wall to help you even if all the doors are closed You have no complete faith in God. The atheism imparted by the external environment is hidden in you without your knowledge. You are in daily association with people who always put self efforts with partial faith on God and this injects such attitude into your brain. Hence you are not having full faith on the word of God. You will always estimate the success based on the worldly factors. Really you do not have the confidence on the super power of God, which can produce an ocean of sweet water in a desert. In practical situation the faith on God and the extent of your theism is tested. Wise people, who say that the self-effort is the main component and that God’s help is a minor component, often cover up such deficiency of your faith. When all the doors are closed, you will be worried about the possibility of success assured by God. Then, you will put effort to open one of the doors so that God can help you through that door. This is your utter foolishness, because you think that God cannot help you without the door opened. God can enter through the wall to help you even if all the doors are closed. Thus the faith in the practical situation is important. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 179. Dattaswami answers questions from a Christian devotee Q1) The Bible (Matthew 19:12) says regarding becoming a eunuch (napuMsaka) for the sake of the kingdom of heaven “He that is able to receive it, let him receive it”. Does it mean that anyone who feels capable of remaining a celibate (brahmachari) for the sake of God should become one? The word eunuch means the removal of male egoism. Krishna asked the saints to be born as maidens to receive the salvation. Celibate means the person is always interested in the search of the God. It is has nothing to do with marriage. In Sanskrit the word Brahmachari indicates a person who is always aware of the Lord. Q2) How can I handle Rajas and Tamas in me? Rajas or Krodha means emotion. Tamas means ignorance. Both these can be removed by Sattvam, which is the true knowledge given by your selected spiritual preacher.

Q3) The Bible has a concept of the "Holy Spirit" that comes down to dwell in people who have put their full faith and trust in the Lord Jesus. Where does that fit into Hinduism? The Holy Spirit means pure Sattvam. Sattvam indicates the knowledge and all the good qualities associated with it are indicated by the word Holiness. All the devotees of God are blessed with this pure Sattvam as you can find in Gita. This pure Sattvam is always associated with the Lord as said in Gita. Q4) You say that you are the human incarnation of God. Then how come I never got even a little bit of Bliss from you? Even if Bliss is not the goal, I should get atleast some in order to identify you as per your method of identifying the human incarnation— Knowledge that gives bliss and generates love. I never said that I am the human incarnation of God. Only when the devotees stress on this concept even after My serious opposition I agree to it because if you analysis the word human incarnation, it does not mean that I am God. It means that the God is present in this human body as a guest visiting your house for his work. My inert human body is the house. I am the soul and owner of this house. The God visited my house for his work. When the guest in your house speaks you are not speaking. Therefore, when God gives this spiritual knowledge I am not speaking. You need not fear that I have become God. You say God in flesh. This word indicates the concept. The word flesh indicates the inert human body and the soul in it. The word God indicates the guest that visited the human body. This spiritual knowledge has given bliss to some people and has not given bliss to you. This means that the defect is with the soil and not with seed. If the seed is defective, the seed should not germinate in any soil. Similarly my knowledge should not have given bliss to anybody. As soon as you hear the knowledge, the harsh truth in it may not give bliss to you. But some devotees may get bliss on hearing the truth even if it is harsh. Did the knowledge of Jesus give bliss to all in His time? In that case why He was crucified by majority of the people? According to your version, all the people should have got bliss. When the doctor says to a patient that an injection of medicine is to be given, the child weeps. The child does not get bliss from the medicine immediately. But in long run the child gets good health and gets bliss permanently. A grown up person is happy by seeing the injection because he realises that the medicine injected will act quickly. A child is not getting immediate bliss on seeing the injection. But the same injection is giving bliss to an elder person. Your heart is pure and innocent like that of a child. When the knowledge is practiced, then only the eternal bliss dawns on you. But you should not satisfy yourself there. You must give bliss to the God through sacrifice. If your ultimate goal is only bliss, you are in no way greater than any ordinary human being who also craves for the same bliss. You have taken God as the means to achieve the bliss. The other fellow has taken the wine as means to achieve the same bliss. Your aim is

on the bliss only and not on the God. You should keep God blissful through suffering by sacrifice. The God also will keep you blissful by attracting your sins on Him. Such sacrifice of yourself or God is the real love. Such real love is practically experienced in the case of your love on your family members. It is not impossible. If it is impossible, it should be impossible everywhere. Q5) After Jesus Christ left his disciples, the disciples continued to teach that one should follow and worship Jesus Christ only. Even though they were the ones representing God and the Holy Spirit was supporting them, they did not ask people to worship them. How come you are indicating that it would be good for people to worship you now? I am speaking about the God in flesh, who comes in every human generation. I am telling that you should identify such human incarnation and worship Him. The disciples cannot be the human incarnations and so the disciples of Jesus were correct. Whoever is the human incarnation like Jesus, Krishna etc, should be worshipped. I have given the signs of the human incarnation as present in scriptures. I have also asked you to use your logic in such identification. After all this, if you identify me as the human incarnation, then only you have to worship me. I never say that I am the human incarnation and you should worship me. Krishna also told Arjuna to worship Him as the human incarnation. I never told like that. I only say that after the analysis of the scriptures, whoever is found as the human incarnation, He should be worshipped. If you are found as the human incarnation you should be worshipped. How can I force anybody to worship me? I have accepted the worship of those devotees only who have firm faith in Me even after My several negative tests. That does not apply to your case. Whomever you find as the human incarnation you worship Him. My information to you is that the human incarnation exists in every generation to avoid the partiality. Q6) The Bible says that the Holy Spirit will be your guide in all things until Jesus Christ comes again. And, there will be other preachers, but Christ himself will not come down until the time and manner specified. You are saying you are re-incarnation of Jesus Christ, and we should worship you. Please explain this. As I told you the Holy Spirit means the divine knowledge. The recorded divine knowledge can certainly guide people to some extent. But the direct explanation from the God cannot be given by anybody. God gives such direct explanation to every human generation directly. If one generation is blessed by such direct contact and other generations are having only the indirect guidance by Holy Spirit, again the partiality arises. Therefore, either there should be continuous guidance by the Holy Spirit for every generation from the beginning of the creation or God must be coming in every generation. Gita says that God comes down whenever there is necessity. You stick to one scripture only and argue. What about the other scriptures? Q7) What is your explanation of the Millennium prophecies in the Bible?

Any prophecy carries the internal meaning, which is present in every human generation and it is not limited to a particular period of time. Q8) According to your lectures, the same people of your inner circle are born again and again in this world. Does this mean that these people cannot reach the permanent abode of the Lord? The inner circle devotees of God have reached already the permanent abode of God. These devotees take human births whenever God comes down in human form. When the mission is over God will go to the permanent abode along with these liberated souls. Infact wherever God exists, that is the eternal divine abode. These devotees will never come to the routine cycle on this earth. From that angle they have no re-birth. Any soul is having the equal opportunity to enter the inner circle provided the soul has strong wish and puts efforts. Q9) You say it is necessary for God to incarnate again and again since Christianity and Islam do not accept re-incarnation for the soul. But later you explain your theories assuming reincarnation of the soul. So what is your actual stand; do you accept reincarnation of the soul or not? If you do, then how can you reconcile with Christianity and Islam, which absolutely do not accept it? The liberated soul will never have re-birth in this routine cycle. But the soul will be born as human being to associate and serve the God, whenever God comes down in human form. Regarding the ordinary soul also, it will not get the re-birth having the same spiritual chance. Therefore, one should try to please God in this human birth itself without postponement. Thus, there is no re-birth from this angle. But the soul can be born as an animal or animal like human being and thus re-birth exists. Like this the contradiction can be removed. If you pass a hard and fast rule that the soul has no re-birth at all, do you mean that omnipotent God is also bound by your rule? The Lord can sanction the human re-birth to a soul with the equal spiritual chance also, provided He feels that the soul can uplift itself if a chance is given. Of course, such chance is very rare and one should not depend on it. Q10) In your attempt to reconcile reincarnation vs. permanent heaven/hell, you say that repeated animal births is also a permanent hell. The Bible clearly says that in hell, the souls retain the ability to feel pain and reason (thinking). Animals do not think and do not remember their past births. If you say they are being punished, they do not even know why they are being punished. They will not learn anything from the punishment and will continue with their sinful ways if they get human birth. Also animals cannot be said to be suffering because they do not even know any better life. How can this be the hell described in the Bible? The sinners are like animals. You can see a thief continues with his quality in spite of intensive third degree treatment in the police station. According to your version, he should realise his mistake because he is a human being and not the animal. How do you

know that the animal is also not realising since it keeps silent? You are depending always on one scripture and your argument is always unidirectional. If you read life history of Shirdi Sai Baba, one day He found a snake swallowing a frog. Sai told His devotees that both the snake and frog were human beings in the previous birth and that they stabbed each other for the sake of property. Then Sai told the snake and frog “Are you not ashamed of your behaviour which continues from the previous birth”? The snake left the frog and went away. Animals have realised on the warning from the Lord. Sometimes you find two human beings fighting with each other and do not separate inspite of your repeated warnings. If you simply depend on the Bible or Gita only, there is no use of any discussions with you. You must be a sea frog and not well frog as said by Swami Vivekananda. You must examine all the scriptures impartially and then only you can arrive at the true knowledge. I see yourself as pure colourless crystal with pure innocent heart like child and imbibing the colour of any substance near yourself. You say that logic should be avoided. This means you must follow whatever some body says to you without analysing it. Now I will also say some thing and just follow it without analysis. You always analyse my statements because I said that you should analyse every statement. But I mean that you should analyse every statement of every person. Some one says that you should follow his statement without analysis. You simply accept that without analysis. What I mean is that you should analyse both of us and arrive at the truth. If you are against the logical analysis, why are you analysing my statements only? You must follow my statements also blindly. Is it said that the statement of any Indian guy should be analysed and your version of “Beyond the logic” does not apply to the Indian guys? Q11) The Bible mentions the coming again of the Christ. It does not say anything about repeated incarnations of Jesus. It accepts only two: One that came 2000 yrs ago and the second, which will come after the tribulation. Specific events described in the Bible about the time of second coming of the Christ have not yet taken place. How can you then claim to be the re-incarnation of Jesus? The word Jesus means the eternal God present in that human body. The same human body will never come again. Therefore, Jesus will come in another human body. If you restrict to only two human incarnations according the direct meaning of statement, then Bible contradicts Gita. Gita says that God will come in human form any number of times whenever there is necessity. I have to speak keeping all these scriptures in my view. You speak only keeping one scripture in your view. This is the reason for the gap between us. To solve the contradiction I will say that Jesus will come again and this does not mean that He will come once only again. The tribulation is present in every generation and is not limited to a particular period.

Q12) The Bible indicates that the world will not know perfect peace until after the tribulation period. Is perfect peace the aim of your mission? In every human generation the tribulation comes and the tribulation may be very serious in the end. The cyclones come often and Tsunami comes rarely. Both the cyclone and Tsunami should be controlled. The efforts of human incarnation may vary in their intensity. Perfect peace is the initial aim of God (Pravrutti), which is the establishment of balance of the society. The higher aim is liberation of the soul (Nivrutti). Unless the first aim is achieved, the second aim cannot be thought of. Unless the class is kept silent, there is no use of teaching. Q13) I think that you are the Anti Christ since it is written in the Bible that the Anti Christ will win the hearts of people by pretending to preach world peace and unity of all religions. What do you say? You are saying that the anti-Christ tries for world peace. This means that Christ is against the world peace! This simple logic crushes your statement because Jesus is the very embodiment of peace. Even in Hinduism, the followers of Ramanuja say that Sankara was the incarnation of a demon. They quote some verses from the “Bhavishyat Purana” written by sage Vyasa, which show the same meaning. The question to such people is “Have you recorded the Purana from the mouth of Vyasa directly by a tape recorder? Or at least have you got a written hand script of Vyasa?” Certainly this statement was introduced in to the scripture by some guy later on. Q14) If Jesus died for my sins and the sins of the whole world, then my sins are washed when I confess and accept Him as my only savior. Why do I need you or anyone else for reaching heaven or attaining salvation? It is written on the first page of Bible that Jesus came to save His people. His people mean His devotees and it does not mean that He saved every human being without any discrimination. I ask a simple question with simple common sense. According to Christianity the soul has no re-birth. All the souls before the birth of Jesus have gone either to God or hell permanently. Now Jesus suffered for all the sins of all the souls. Does this mean that all the souls present in the permanent hell were immediately relieved from the hell and hell is vacant? Now you say that your sins are also cancelled. How He has cancelled the sins of the future generation? Suppose you say that He has cancelled all the sins of all the souls of past, present and future, this means no soul was in the hell and no soul is in the hell and no soul will go to the hell. What is the use of that hell which is always vacant? The people have propagated the misinterpretations due to their anxiety to attract the people towards Christianity. They show this as their special point, which is not present in any other religion. They want to attract the innocent masses by such statements and forget the simple logic and their committed blender. The real interpretation of this statement is that Jesus suffered for the sins of His real devotees. Such behaviour of sacrifice exists in Hinduism also. Krishna tried to give away all His

wealth to Sudama and tried to transfer his poverty on to Him. But Sudama is His real deserving devotee. Incarnations of Datta like Sai also showed the suffering of sins of their real devotees. With such interpretation only this concept becomes universal and justified in all religions. Do not be carried away by the interpretations of the human beings. You read the Bible and think about the meanings. Your pure heart will certainly receive the real meaning if you do not hear any body. You read the knowledge of any body and try to assimilate it with your own brain. Do not allow other brains for understanding the scripture. God has clearly explained in the scripture and you can yourself understand by using even little common sense. The word of God is very clear. Q15) You base your arguments on the impartiality of God. However the Bible gives indications that God favored some places and people over others. The truth is that partiality/impartiality, logic, reason, justice, equality and fairness are all concepts of the human mind. You cannot judge the works of God based on these human concepts. Why do you try to fit God in the limited boundaries of human rationality? The partiality of God is justified provided it is shown on good people. But His partiality to a small country, which contains majority of bad people, is not justified. Therefore, you have to judge the partiality in the light of justice because God will never do injustice. Q16) You say in the Rohit Gita that the son will be sent to hell if he leaves his parents for the sake of a girl (woman). However Jesus does not condemn it. Since man and woman were made by God and are united into one soul, in marriage, why should it not be justified for a man to leave his parents for a woman in order to start his family? When a person leaves his parents due to attraction of a girl, I mean leaving the attachment to parents. It does not mean physical separation, which is necessary for setting up the family. Jesus told that one has to leave all his family and even one has to be prepared to sacrifice the life for the sake of God in order to become His dearest disciple. How do you explain your own Bible in this point? His path is full of thorns and truth is always harsh. Q17) You said that we all play roles here in this earth. Some people play good roles, and some people play evil roles. But, both the roles get their remuneration after death equally. Jesus Christ said that 'Evil trials must come, but woe to those through whom they come'. Why is there woe to the evil person who brings trials to the good then, like the disciple Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus? This also seems to go against the philosophy of Heaven and Hell. Please explain. When the human incarnation comes down along with the inner circle of devotees, the roles are assigned for the divine drama. In such case, there is no discrimination of good and bad roles. Ravana was the gatekeeper of the Lord. But you should not extend this to the entire world and say that every bad fellow is in the divine role. Ravana went to the abode of the Lord after the death. But every bad fellow will not go to the abode of Lord. The divine drama is enacted for the sake of the world. Judas Iscariot acted in his bad role.

His repentance and suicide prove that he belongs to inner circle only. My friend! Since you have not accepted me I address you as My friend and not as my disciple. This is the inner meaning when I told that you were my friend in Brindavanam. I will never say to you or your category that I am God or God is in me. I say only that I am a devotee like you. This is the reason for sending Rohit Gita to Dr. Nikhil only and not to you directly. I say God is in me to such devotees who have partial faith on me. But to my inner circle devotees I say that I am God. The statements differ one devotee to other. Jesus also told in different ways “ I am messenger from God”, “I am son of the God” and “I am the God since I and my father are one and the same”. These different statements relate to different levels of devotees. One level cannot absorb the statement of other level. For example you take the case of Ajay Bhaiah. He always sings the devotional songs composed by Me. He has full devotion on Me while singing the Bhajans. He always participates in Satsanga and receives knowledge through his intelligence. He always works for the mission. He sacrificed all his ancestral wealth to the mission during the time of past ten years and the cost of that wealth comes to about one crore rupees. He has children and lives on his salary only. He has several debts in the Banks. I tried several times to pay his debts but he did not accept. I tested him in several ways but his faith did not shake. In fact I am defeated by him. He saw the vision of Viswaroopam (Cosmic form) in Me. The God in Me gave that vision to him and I have nothing to do with it. When I said that the God in Me gave the vision, he never agrees and says that I am the God. Therefore, I declare to him only that I am the God. This declaration is personal and is limited to his case only. Krishna never told that He is God to any one in His lifetime. Only when He was teaching Gita to Arjuna He declared He is God and gave the vision of cosmic form. Therefore, you do not touch the statements of other levels. I will speak to you in your level and you can treat me as a mere human being and as your good friend. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 180. The Spiritual Knowledge and Logic The spiritual knowledge or philosophy (Vedanta) is generally based on logic (Tarka). God is certainly above the logic and thus logic cannot touch Him (Naisha Tarkena -Veda). Nobody can show God by the indicating finger. Veda clearly states that God is beyond words, mind, intelligence and logic and the best way of explanation is silence about God. If that is so, there is no necessity of spiritual knowledge, because God cannot be known or imagined. Then what is the use of all these scriptures? Why are there so many discussions and debates? Lord Yama says in Veda that angels and sages are still discussing about God and have concluded that God is unknowable. Here unknowable means unimaginable even to the logic. They have not conducted such long discussions to know simply that God is unknowable because it is not the object as my friend says! If God is said to be

unimaginable, what is the subject of discussions? The answer is that the logic used in long discussions is not about God but about the Non-God entities (items of creation). Certainly, we cannot know God by logic or by any other means, but we can use the logic to reject a Non-God item projected as God. When you say that awareness is God, we will use the logic and see whether awareness is an item of creation. If it is an item of creation, certainly it can be analyzed by logic. If logic fails to analyze it, certainly we will accept it as God. Similarly we shall apply the logic to several entities rejected as God and see whether any item is beyond logic. The logic is the analytical faculty supported by practical examples, which stands as experimental verification. The ancient Indian logic was developed based on practical examples like mud pot etc. The advancement in logic took place from time to time and the logic was more and more sharpened. The authoritative parameters (Pramanas) have improved in number and therefore the schools of Nyaya, Vaiseshika and Vedanta differed in the subject of logic. The number of Pramanas increased from 2 to 4 and finally became 6 in Vedanta. This shows the improvement of logic in course of time. Today science is the most advanced logic since the experimental verification was improved. Therefore if I am explaining the philosophy based on science, it means that the philosophy is more and more clear due to the advanced logic. I told you already that the logic (science) is only useful to refuse any item of creation as not God. The creator cannot be any item of the creation. If creator becomes creation, there must be some other creator for this creator to become the creation. Ad-infinitum (Anavastha) results. Science disproved some conclusions of the earlier logic and this should not be misunderstood as refusing God. God is in no way touched because the earlier logic also was dealing with only the analysis of created items. Tarka means the analysis of the items of creation, which are indicated and understood by their corresponding names or words (Tarkyante Padarthah Asminniti….). God is beyond all the words and cannot be the understood meaning of any word and therefore, logic cannot touch God. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 181. Fate of a soul It is a misunderstanding that the life history of every soul is written by God or destiny. God is certainly the creator of this whole world like the builder of the stage and the supplier of dress for a drama. He is responsible up to this level only. The story, dialogues and actions are written by the created self only. The self is pure awareness and is called as causal body, but is composed of several types of vibrations which are the feelings or thoughts or qualities. The various types result due to various mixing proportions of Sattvam, Rajas and Tamas. Some of these thoughts have become very strong since from several millions of births. Such solidified thoughts are like hard diamonds. The bundle of such diamonds is called as the subtle body. The soul writes its own story of drama based on the directions of these

diamonds (Samskaras or Vasanas). Thus, in that way, these diamonds can be treated as destiny. But this destiny has nothing to do with God. The soul itself created its own destiny. Therefore, the theme of the drama will be uniform in any number of births of that soul. How to change these diamonds? You can change the destiny. The only way is to cut these diamonds by divine diamonds which come out from the preaching of divine knowledge by God through human form called as Satguru. Gita says clearly that God has not created anything and only the nature of the soul, which is bundle of these diamonds, is deciding the theme of the life of any soul here (Svabhavastu Pravartate). When God enters this world in human form, then only God writes His own program which is the story of His divine play. Gita says that if you recognize such human incarnation and His divine mission, you will be liberated through your participation (Janama Karmacha Me Divyam…). At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 182. Types of Love to God There are two paths of love on God. The path of limited real love on wife and the path of unlimited real love on children. The first path is aspiring boons from God for selfish happiness, which involves mostly theoretical and little practical devotion. In this first path, one loves his wife for selfish happiness only and most of his love is emotional (Theoretical) with little practical sacrifice. The second path is selfless love without any aspiration of fruit in return and consists of mostly practical and little theoretical devotion. In this second path, one loves his child without any selfishness and a total sacrifice of work and fruit of work. Hanuman and Gopikas are the best Gold Medalstudents of the University. Once you are fixed in the divine service of God, there is no need of miracles, knowledge and theoretical devotion. The knowledge is the qualifying degree and the theoretical devotion is official appointment order. The practical devotion is the work done in the month and salary (fruit) is given to the monthly work only. Only work (Karma) can yield the fruit. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 183. Levels in Spirituality Miracles are just fundamental level of elementary schools, which are widely spread everywhere, by the wish of God. Even evil people can do these miracles by black magic. The idea behind such wide covering range of miracles is that these miracles are useful in converting atheists into theists. For such elementary work, human incarnations or professors are not necessary.

The next level is Jnana Yoga, which is the level of high schools. The high schools are lesser in number than elementary schools because only some converted theists start the enquiry about the subject (Jnana Yoga) of the unimaginable God, since His existence was indirectly proved through the unimaginable miracles and He is the source of the unimaginable power behind the miracles. The next higher level is formation of theoretical love (Bhakti Yoga) or devotion on the Lord since a few of the scholars of God get this and this level is the level of colleges. The ultimate highest level is practical devotion (Karma Yoga) or service to God, which is the level of University and is very rare since a few of devotees only can become servants of God through practical sacrifice of work and fruit of work. The scientific analysis of divine knowledge (Jnana Yoga) is pervading all the four levels as the basic torchlight. In the first level, the existence of God is accepted. In the second level, the existence of unimaginable God is accepted. In the third level, the representatives of God like statues in human form are worshipped by words and mind to get rid of ego and jealousy towards human form. In the fourth level, the decision of the final conclusion of the intellectual analysis results in detecting the contemporary human incarnation and involve in a practical service in His mission. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness Sri Dattaswami 184. Defects and merits of Christianity , Hinduism, Islam Hinduism has two defects. The first is that all the rituals are not conducted in the mother tongue. The rituals involve hymns in Sanskrit. In the ancient days, Sanskrit was the mother tongue of the sages. They understood the meaning of the rituals and were very much interested in God. Every ritual explains about God only directly are indirectly. Today the rituals are like the dead bodies without life. Their real aim and purpose is lost. Not even a trace of devotion is developed through any ritual. At least the priest should translate the hymns and should create interest in the ritual. If you observe the other religions, this defect does not exist because all their rituals are performed in their mother tongue. This is the reason for the sincere devotion in Christianity and Islam. Added to this, like Ghee for fire, the concept of only one present human birth in the other religions has developed tremendous interest in God due to fear. In Hinduism the belief of several future human births brought lenience towards spiritual field. If you allow the candidate to pass the examinations in several attempts, no serious view can be developed. If you say that one has to pass the examination in single attempt, the education system will be perfect. Observing the other religions must rectify these two defects. Christianity and Islam have their own defects. They should also rectify their defects by

observing Hinduism. Selfishness, pathetic scenes and fear develop their belief in God. If you want to develop interest in God by saying that Jesus suffered for your sins and by showing the pathetic scene of crucifixion, it is not real and pure love. When you get interest in Jesus since He suffered for your sins, your love to Him is only based on selfishness. Your love to Jesus should be based on His divine personality and knowledge without any trace of selfishness. Similarly, these two religions try to create fear in the minds of human beings by mentioning the permanent hell. Fear should not be the basis for the love to God. The love should be spontaneous and without any selfishness in a free atmosphere. The reason for this deficiency in the foreign religions is due to absence of metaphysics in the scriptures. Those scriptures mainly deal with the development of proper human behavior to balance the society. Such scriptures are mainly dealing with ethics only and not with the philosophy of God like the nature of God, path to please God etc. The analytical development in the spiritual knowledge is not much in these scriptures. They have confined God to the path of Pravrutti only and God is simply an administrator bound by His own rules. He is just a judge to deliver the judgment and a jailer who jails the sinners. He is just a mechanical examiner without any freedom or love to devotees. He cannot go beyond the rules of justice. Of course, all this is good for the initial development of the human beings. Mere happy life in a society is not sufficient because such life is not eternal. The life after death should be also analyzed. Mere judicial procedure is not the ultimate of God. The love towards God, the sacrifice for the sake of God, the concept of contemporary human incarnation for the sake of most beloved devotees etc., are points of higher importance than mere limitation to the petty family only. The view is at the best generalized to the service to the society. Society is only a large family of your colleague souls only. God is beyond society. You must transit from the service to family to the service to the society and finally to the service to God. These three are the subsequent steps in ascending order. The foreign religions are mainly confining to the first two steps only and not to the third step. In the name of the third step they are only staying in the second step (social service) only. The basis for this deficiency is lack of the concept of contemporary human incarnation. They criticize the idol worship of Hinduism. But they are doing the same in another form in their churches and Mosques. The exploitation of the devotees by priests is common to their religions also because the concept of the contemporary human incarnation is completely eradicated from the root in these religions because the selfish priests do not allow this. The same thing happened in the case of Holy Jesus. Hence, Holy Mohammad did not allow this concept for the fear of such horrible jealousy towards the contemporary human incarnation. In Hinduism also the selfish priests oppose the contemporary human incarnation. However in Hinduism, this concept is at least partially alive since Gita says that God will come again and again (Yada Yada hi…) and that God will come in human form (Manusheem tanumashritam…).

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 185. The Lord does not need your service in anyway for His work. The Lord does not need your service in anyway for His work. He is only testing your attitude of your sincerity in His work by taking help from you in His work. You should not think that He really needs your help. You should not also think that you need not help Him because He does not need your help. Both these are the two branches of ignorance. He is actually testing your extent of sacrifice towards Him and thus He does not need your help in reality. But based on this reality you should not withdraw your help to Him because He is testing your attitude and extent to work for Him. When the examiner asks a question, the student should not think that the examiner is really ignorant about the answer and is in search of the answer from the student. The student should not also keep silent thinking that there is no need of giving answer to the examiner since the examiner knows the answer. Both these views of the student are wrong regarding the examiner. Neither Rama needed the help of monkeys in reality nor the monkeys kept silent without helping Rama since Rama does not require any help in reality. The reality is that Rama does not require any help and that the monkeys helped Rama to their best ability to prove their real interest in God. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 186. Conditional Love Vs Unconditional Love to God The devotion is of two types, conditional and unconditional. The former is bound by area and time. Within the limits of certain area only God is honored. If God crosses those limits God is rejected. Therefore, for the devotee the limits of the area happen to be God, since those limits are ultimate for the devotee. God also follows the same rule and cannot help the devotee beyond those limits. In such case God follows the strict rules of the cycle of deeds (Karma Chakra) and acts according to justice and injustice. At the maximum, God may do some rearrangements like pre-poning of good fruits with reduced value and post-poning bad fruits with increased interest. In this case God will not transfer your sins on to Him because the conditional devotion is basically unreal. In the conditional devotion since the boundary of the area is ultimate God, God is no more God. Therefore, the approach to God is false devotion. It is time bound since the devotion comes only in difficult times. The unconditional devotion is not limited by area and time. The devotion is real crossing all the limits of areas and time. The Lord is the writer of the constitution and He knows whom to punish. Some times you see punishment of innocent person. You think that the injustice is ruling. In the kingdom of God only the justice is the ruler by the grace of God. When the innocent is punished, the punishment was of some bad deed done by him previously and the date of the punishment coincided with the present incident accidentally.

The Lord will react in the same way as we act (Ye Yatha Mam…Gita). If our devotion is one kg of Gold, He will pay us its cost. If our devotion is hundred grams gold, He will pay us one tenth of the cost of the gold. But if our devotion is only bronze, even if it is one kg the cost of gold cannot be paid. Bronze is glittering like gold and it will have its own payment. The time bound devotion is totally unreal. We are using God only in difficulties as we use the fan in summer. In the winter fan is not needed. Of course, we use the fan in winter also for few minutes so that it will not corrode. Similarly, we pray God for a little time in the days of happiness also so that the touch with God is maintained. The intensity of the devotion in the times of happiness is definitely different from that in bad times. The devotion of Prahlada and Gopikas (Great Devotee of God)was having the same intensity in all the times. In such case only God suffers for the sake of devotee. All the suffering of Prahlada was taken by Lord and therefore Prahlada was always smiling during the torture. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 187. Some fine points of Christ and Krishna My dear Christians and Hindus, The spiritual message of Jesus and Krishna are always one and the same in every aspect. Jesus always preached for the detachment from the blind worldly bonds like bonds with family members. He stated that unless one is prepared to leave parents children, money and even life for His sake, one couldn’t be His dearest disciple. He always preached the eradication of egoism. Whenever a supernatural act was done by Him, He always claimed that it was due to His Father whose glory is to be propagated. He never owned any supernatural act. He always preached that His Father only grants the boons and all the facilities on this earth. Krishna also told the same points in Gita about detachment (Nirmamah…), removal of egoism (Yadahamkaramasritya…) and sanction of boons by God only (Mayaiva Vihitan…). These three aspects are very important steps to achieve the grace of the Lord. You love your family members and such love gives you some pleasure in your heart. Therefore, your love is only for your self-satisfaction and such love is only selfishness. You are over powered by the emotions of love but you are not analysing by controlling your emotions. If you analyse, you can clearly understand that your love cannot protect either yourself or your family members. Your love is only some loss of your precious nervous energy and valuable time. Except this loss there is no use. By emotion you are becoming weak by losing energy. Why are you doing such foolish thing again and again? There is no benefit out of such act and there is only clear loss. But if you divert your love towards God, He will protect and develop yourself as well as your family members in this world as well as in the upper world. By spending the same quantum of nervous energy towards God, you are getting all unimaginable benefits forever! How wise is this act! By protecting yourself and your family members, you are

proving your love towards yourself and your family members. This is the true love. The former is only false love, which involves wastage of energy just out of selfishness. Thus, wise scholars overcome emotions and analyse any point with calm and energetic brain. Gita says to apply the brain always to do the analysis and find out the truth before any action (Buddhow Saranam…). Most of the people are not understanding this truth. Especially this is very clear in the case of parents who blindly love their children with the climax of the emotion spending their maximum precious nervous energy, which is simply wasted without any use for themselves or for their children. I find, some times, some parents or elders are talking with just born babies! They talk so many sentences and they no very well that the baby cannot understand even a single word! They waste their nervous and ordained energy for such a long time and they feel very great about such foolish act! Therefore, try to understand my point without any excitation and try to implement my advise. You can experiment my advise just for a month and then see the tremendous change in your circumstances. The next item is eradication of egoism. Whenever you are doing some appreciable act, immediately you disown yourself from such act. You surrender all the credit to the Lord even before somebody praises about it. If some body is praising you for such act, you pass on the ownership to the Lord at once. Otherwise, the wine of egoism will enter your brain and your are intoxicated with the egoism. You are transformed in to a demon shortly. Some people disown the praise externally but accept the praise in their minds. This is just like drinking the wine negating it orally. In such case also the intoxication of egoism is inevitable. You are thinking that you are the owner or the master of your family. You feel your self as the king or the ruler and you think that your family is your kingdom. This is the climax of foolishness and ignorance. You cannot even rule the organs of your body like heart, kidneys, lungs etc. Even your body is under the control of the Lord only. How can you control other human beings? Therefore, you quit your post of headship of your family. From now onwards you recognise that the Lord is the head of your family. From this moment onwards you feel that you are just a member of your family like any other family member. You belong to the category of “Ruled” and you are not at all the ruler. Now your family and your body are under the control of the divine master. If anything happens to your body or to your family, do not get disturbed because the rectification is responsibility of the Lord who is the owner of your body and the family. The owner only has to worry about any disturbance. You are not responsible for either the disturbance or its rectification. Let any problem arise, you keep calm and peaceful. Even if you disturbed and feel responsible, you can not do anything. Suppose you are responding to the problem and try for its rectification, even then, you feel that you are acting as instrument or a servant of God to do that work. You must feel that you are assigned to solve that problem by the order of the Lord. When the problem is solved you must pass on the entire credit to the Lord only. As I told you, you can experiment my advise for a month and see the excellent works of the Lord.

You must always feel that the final granting authority is only the Lord. Except the Lord no body or nothing or no force is responsible to accomplish anything every body and every thing acts according to His wish. The Lord is not seen by you. Therefore, you think that somebody is kind enough to help you. The person who helped you is forced by the Lord to help you. That person is just carrying on the order of the Lord. Even if you scold him, he will not stop helping you. Even if you praise him, he will not help you if there is no sanction from the Lord. A messenger is bringing a signed cheque from the Lord. The Lord is in the house and you are not seeing Him. You have seen the messenger and the cheque in his hand. You are thinking that the messenger is very kind in helping you. You are praising the messenger. The cheque is handed over in the Bank. The staff are arranging for the payment of the cheque to you. You are praising the staff thinking that they are very kind to help you. It is the duty of the staff to arrange for encashment of the cheque. They will loose their jobs if they are not doing their duties. They are working for the fear of their jobs only. Therefore, you must recognise that the God is the signatory and that He is the account holder. You must understand that the Lord is paying His cash to you. You must analyse the root cause. The root cause is the cheque. The cheque is valid only when it is signed by the account holder. Therefore, you must recognise the force that makes the root cause valid the sanctioning the boons to you. By such deep analyse only to find the Lord as the cause of the cause. Then only you will become grateful to the Lord. And express your gratitude to the correct person who is the Lord alone. Whenever any favour was granted Jesus used to praise the Lord immediately and expressed His gratitude to the Lord. You must thank the Lord for whatever is given to you already. If you are not satisfied with the existing facilities, you will never be satisfied even if the Lord grants any number of more facilities. If you already satisfied and feel contented with whatever is given already, the Lord is further pleased to grant further facilities. Therefore, to achieve the grace of the Lord, the contentment with the existing circumstances is essential. Therefore, be always satisfied and be always cheerful with whatever you have already. This is the basis for achieving the grace from the Lord in more quantity in the future. You must always express the gratefulness to the Lord for whatever is already granted to you. You should not ask for anything more. When thousands of people came to see Jesus, He was having just four breads in a basket. He did not ask the Lord for more breads. He raised the basket with His hands and praised the Lord for giving those four breads. Immediately the four breads were multiplied to thousands. Gita also says about the necessity of self-satisfaction with the existing things (Nityatrupto…). He will be rained with infinite grace of the Lord if you follow my advise. Again I suggest that you experiment this for a month and then practice in your life. All this preaching is only the practical philosophy, which requires firm faith in the preacher. The preacher should be the correct the person. Only the Lord in human form can be such a correct preacher. If you believe a false preacher or an ignorant person as the true preacher, results cannot be seen. If you approach the real water and believe it as the

water really, you can put your finger in it and feel the coldness, which is the correct result. If you put your finger in fire, you cannot feel the coldness because it is not water. Similarly the false preacher gives negative results. If you put your finger in air, which is neither water nor fire, your finger neither feels the coldness nor is burnt. Similarly an ignorant person acting as a true preacher can give neither correct result nor the negative result. You will be wasting your time energy with such an ignorant preacher. Therefore, catching the right guide (Satguru) is fundamental step. If you mistake the true guide as some ordinary guy, only you are loosing. Veda says “Ihachet Avedet…) which means that if you miss the correct preacher in this world in this birth, you are a permanent looser. All those ignorant people who did not recognise Jesus and crucified Him were permanent losers. Similarly, all the ignorant people who cannot recognise Lord Krishna are loosing the spiritual treasure forever. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 188. The good and bad will have their own results separately and will not cancel each other The administration of the country through Government and courts is integrated with the underlying invisible administration of God. Every judge on this earth is controlled by God who is the ultimate divine judge. Some times, the judge in the court is mislead and gives wrong judgment so that the sinner is benefited and a good fellow is put to loss. The reason for this is that the good fellow now was a sinner in the previous birth or in the earlier time of this birth and grabbed the money or some form of wealth like work of the present sinner. The wrong judgment did the final justice only by the will of God. The case is closed here. But if you are a devotee of God, you will be compensated with some wealth elsewhere. You need not be upset with the wrong judgment because you are unaware of the complete background of the case. Your devotion to God has its own fruit separately and will not interfere with the judiciary system. The good and bad will have their own results separately and will not cancel each other. If good can cancel bad, every one will be tempted to do bad in a pressing situation so that it can be cancelled by doing some good later on. You expect to win the case in the court by your devotion to God. But the judgment of God has its own analysis and is not affected by any other factor except the strict procedure of the constitution of God for the deeds and their relevant fruits. The administration of God is always without any blame and some times people criticize God blaming that God is sleeping. Actually your ignorance is your sleep and therefore you are blaming God without knowing the complete background. People expect practical results for theoretical devotion. They ask for large and thick bread by supplying a spoon of wet flour! Either the bread will be large and thin or the bread will be small and thick for flour. You are trying to soap God by flattering Him through prayers or by expressing your exceptional talent in begging (like crying etc.). God is aware of every thing and

fools you in return by dragging the good fruits from the next birth with reduced value and giving them to you. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 189. The essence of all the religions is one and the same The essence of all the religions is one and the same since the Universal God gives it. The religions are different from each other because the religious leaders who are the human beings create the material that surrounds the essence. The skeleton is one and the same and there is no difference in the skeletons of the human beings. The difference lies only in the external materials covering the skeletons, which are flesh, skin etc., in these external materials differences arose due to deficiencies. Suppose there are two students. One is weak in physics and the other is weak in chemistry. Each student mocks the other for the deficiency. Therefore, the deficiency is the root of difference and quarrels in the religions. The reason for the deficiency is the human brain that developed the external body of the spiritual knowledge. Therefore, the spiritual knowledge is the skeleton and the religion is its body. The deficiency in a religion can be removed by taking the merits of the other religions. Every religion has deficiency and the rectification of that deficiency should be from other religion without any ego and jealousy. Do not think that you are without defects. Do not think that your parents have no defects. Do not think that your teachers and preachers do not have defects. Therefore, observe others and take the merits from anybody without prejudice. The blind thinking that your nation, your state, your district, your town or village, your caste, your family, your parents, etc., is the best or highest should be eradicated from your brain. Always base your self on your analysis and commonsense that is observed from the examples in the world. Your elders might have polluted the scriptures but this world is the best scripture written by God. This world-scripture is Universal without any color of any religion. You can develop the entire spiritual knowledge by observing this world and the scientific knowledge existing in the various examples or items of the world. Any human being cannot pollute these. You must be scientific and analytical in your belief. The ignorant and clever religious elders always exploit blind belief. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 190. Injustice winning? Shri Partha Sarathi (USA) asked Swami about his financial loss continuously due to the victory of injustice in this world. Swami replied: The injustice will never win because if it happens so in this divine rule of God, it is only blame to His administration. With the limited knowledge of this birth, you cannot decide the justice. In view of all the previous births and the deeds in the previous

births, God gives judgment, which is perfectly justified in the wide range of all the previous births. If you criticize God, God will leave you with the due justice as per the cycle of deeds. If you are a devotee of God, God will compensate your financial loss through some other way at a later date. If you are wasting the present time in worry, the compensation of finance may be done but you cannot have the compensation of the lost past time. Hence, you should take the help of the spiritual knowledge and try to be happy even in the misery so that you will not loose both time as well as money. If you are worried, you cannot concentrate on God and your devotion also becomes week and your financial compensation in the future also gets correspondingly reduced. Therefore, you must be brave in the troubles without any worry and maintain the concentrated devotion to God. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 191. Never criticize any one in the world Never criticize any one in the world. If you do not like to praise somebody, keep silent. If you scold somebody and suppose God is hidden in that person, it will lead to immediate punishment. Worship of God and insulting God will have immediate results in this world because both are powerful (Atyutkataih Papapunyaih……). The help and insult to the colleague souls will have results in the upper world in heaven and hell. But the service and insult to God in human form and devotees will have immediate results here itself. Generally it is very difficult to identify God in human form who will try to hide Himself by looking like an ordinary person or some times looking like even a negative person. God in human form acts according to the role taken on the stage of the world. The role is according to the divine program drawn by God Himself. The role generally does not contain the supernatural behavior, which will create problems of free mixing of God with the souls. The role consists of mainly normal behavior and sometimes subnormal behavior to test the devotees or to drive away the undeserving devotees who will try to exploit God. In such case there is every possibility of misunderstanding God as a normal human being or some times as a bad human being. If you neglect God assuming Him as a normal human being, there is nothing wrong in it and you will not be in loss even though you may not have the benefit. But if you insult Him assuming a bad fellow, that is the greatest sin and will have immediate negative effect. Since, we cannot trace out God easily, it is better not to criticize even a bad fellow. Leave him to his fate. Who are you to criticize anybody? You have lot of bad points shown by your bulky thumb, when you point out others with your lean finger. The constitution of God running the divine cycle of deeds will take care of everything in the world. Why do you unnecessarily take the risk of insulting the hidden God? At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

192. Analyzing God’s attitude to wards souls God created all the souls and has the attitude of father towards His children. The father sometimes may have partiality in showing the love equally to his children. But God is always having infinite love for all the souls in equal manner. Even the punishments in the hell are meant for transformation of the souls from lower level to the higher level. God always tries to help the soul even if a trace of possibility exists in the cycle of the deeds. One soul need not recommend about the other soul to God to show the grace. If somebody recommends to his father regarding the welfare of his brother, how foolish it looks! No soul should recommend to the God about other soul for protection or for showing the grace. If any soul recommends like that it is only insulting the infinite love of God. It is only the climax of the ignorance and the emotional love on the other soul, which lacks even the basic analysis of spiritual knowledge. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 193. God is the permanently unknowable region even for the intelligence enriched with science and logic. The Universe is infinite with unimaginable beginning and unimaginable end. This means the cause from which the Universe started and the same cause in which the Universe ends on dissolution is the unimaginable God. Mud is the beginning stage of the pot and also the end stage since the pot ends in the mud on destruction. The Universe exhibits the unimaginable God by its unimaginable limits of beginning and end. The space is generated from God and the dissolution of space can only show the real nature of its cause (God). When the chain is dissolved in fire, then only the gold lump, which is the cause of the chain, appears in its original form. But even if you imagine for millions of years, you can never imagine the dissolution of space and therefore you can never imagine the original nature of God. God is beyond space and God is the permanently unknowable region even for the intelligence enriched with science and logic. Hence, God is a permanent wonder and the creation consists of some knowable regions of knowledge without any wonder and also some temporarily unimaginable regions with temporary wonder. Now the word Maya can be used for the wonder, which is both permanent (God) and which is temporary also (the deeper layers of the world up to the space). At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 194. God comes again and again in human form to preach- Negligence of present human incarnation

Identification of the contemporary human incarnation and selfless service to it is the total essence of the total spiritual knowledge. The starting point is the direct atheist or the scientist (an indirect atheist) misled by the ambition of the follower of Advaita (who think soul is God). Whenever Veda uses the word Atman in the context of God, it means only the particular individual soul, which is charged by God called as human incarnation. When it is said in Veda that the space is generated by the soul, the word soul means the human being charged by God like Krishna who came as the human incarnation. Krishna says that He is the source of the entire creation and the first item of the creation is space, which is the first of the five elements. Gita clearly says that God comes in the form of a human being (Manusheem …..). But the serious objection to the human incarnation is that if there was only one human incarnation like Krishna, only one human generation was blessed and therefore God must be partial. To avoid this blame, Krishna told that He will come again and again (Yadayadahi …). But the same human body of Krishna is not seen again and again. This means that God is beyond the human body and hence God is beyond this entire creation. God takes a fresh human body every time just like the soul. The human body is only a shirt which can be changed often (Vasamsi..Gita). Unfortunately, the human beings due to repulsion between common items neglect God in the human body. The human beings do not recognize God existing in a particular human body and treat that particular human body as an ordinary human being only (Parambhavamajananto…Gita). As long as the human incarnation is alive, no human being recognizes it but recognizes it after its exit. Krishna said that a human being recognizing Him as God is very rare (Kaschitmam.., Samahatma Sudurlabhah…Gita). But, today most of us recognize Krishna as God. In such case how Krishna said this? Is not Gita Universal, which is applicable to all times? A simple analysis of this point shows that Krishna said this in view of negligence shown to Him by the human beings in His lifetime. Hence this statement means that many do not recognize the alive human incarnation and several only after its exit recognize it. This statement also clearly proves that Krishna was speaking about the human incarnation (Himself) existing in His time only (Contemporary human incarnation) and this does not mean a single human incarnation generalized for all the times. If Krishna was the single human incarnation generalized to all the times, this statement becomes wrong because later on several human beings worshiped Krishna. The recognition of Krishna as God exists during several human generations after Him (a long span of time) and only a short time (His life time) is related to this statement. This means that there is no single human incarnation generalized to all times. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 195. Logic is used to reject an imaginable item claimed to be an unimaginable item Adi Shankara ( a previous human incarnation of God) made certain assumptions, which

are hypothetical to preach the spiritual knowledge to the devotees at various levels. Generally the devotees are trained in the logic pertaining to the imaginable items in the world. The development of a concept by them is from a worldly example and also its application is to another worldly example. For example since the black color of the mud (cause) is entering into pot (its effect), the conclusion is that the nature of cause enters its effect. This conclusion is applied to another worldly example and they say that the bright color of the gold lump (cause) must also enter the chain (its effect). Here, mud, pot, gold lump and chain are imaginable items and are worldly examples. Hence, all their logic is limited to the imaginable items only and that cannot be extended to the unimaginable God and His link with creation is also unimaginable because it is a link between unimaginable God and imaginable creation. This does not mean that logic is useless. It is useful in denying an imaginable item claimed to be unimaginable. For example in the ancient time the awareness is thought to be independent energy like a free electromagnetic wave in space. But today due to advancement of science and analytical faculty it is clearly proved that awareness is not an independent item but it is completely dependent on the co-existence of functioning nervous system and the inert heat energy produced by the oxidation of food. It is only a special work form of energy appearing through a complicated special technology of brain and nervous system. It is not independent even like the electromagnetic radiation traveling in the space. That which was wonderful yesterday is clear today. It was unimaginable but now is imaginable. Therefore, there is a knowable region extending up to space in the creation. In this knowable region there are certain layers of attained knowledge and certain layers of unimaginable nature. But the layers of unimaginable nature will certainly be analyzed by logic and science in the course of time. But there is a dead limit of this logic and analysis of science, which is the space beyond which the region of eternal unimaginable nature exists. Therefore, by conquering the unimaginable layers within the knowable region, it does not mean that one day or other the logic or science will cross the dead limit of space also and capture the unimaginable God existing beyond space. That is impossible. You may try and try and one day you may touch the roof of your house by the constant practice of high jumps. But this does not mean that one day or other you will also touch the sky by the continuous practice of high jumps. Today the unimaginable layers within the knowable region may appear wonderful and these layers can be called as Maya. The word Maya comes from root meaning “wonder” (Maya vaichitrye). The word wonder does not mean that it will be always unimaginable. The temporarily unimaginable systems also look wonderful before the analysis. The magic show looks wonderful but it can be analyzed and the wonder may disappear after analysis. Hence, wonder need not mean the permanently unimaginable item only. The deeper layers of this universe are wonderful without analysis but may be realized in future. These layers are temporarily unimaginable and the word wonder is used in the case of these also. Therefore, Gita says that you will find the universe as wonderful

(Mayamtu Prakrutim…..). At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 196. How can God be unimaginable? If a student comes and asks the preacher “What is God?” and the preacher says, “God is Unimaginable”; then the student asks again “How God created this world?” and the preacher says, “The process of creation is unimaginable”; the student will think that the preacher does not know the answers for his questions and will leave the preacher. This is the practical problem in revealing the absolute truth. The preacher should say the answers in positive way and the answers should satisfy the logical faculty of the student. Now you should analyze the basis of such logical faculty of the student. The basis is the observation of this world containing all imaginable items only. Hence all his logic is based on the observation of the nature of imaginable items and the relationships between the imaginable items only. This means that the preacher should say that God is an imaginable item and the imaginable process of generation of the imaginable world from imaginable God is in imaginable way only. Every sentence of the preacher should be imaginable to the student and then only the student gets satisfied. The introduction of the word “Unimaginable” by the preacher leads the student to think that the preacher is ignorant. Hence to satisfy the student and to solve this practical problem, the preacher has to make certain assumptions and should preach about God through hypothesis only and not through real theory. The reality is that the unimaginable God created the world through unimaginable way. But to satisfy the student the hypothesis introduced here is that God is pure awareness. Here the infinite ocean of pure awareness is an assumption created because there is no proof of such ocean of awareness anywhere because you can find only the infinite ocean of inert energy. The infinite ocean of awareness is created by the preacher and such ocean charged by God can be treated as God Himself like the live wire treated as current. Now the student is satisfied. Similarly, the creation of world from God should be also done through the imaginable way answering all the objections through imaginable ways only. This makes again the creation of another assumption for the process of creating the world by God. The assumption here is that a second unimaginable item called as the power of God is created which is modified into the world. Since the power is negligible, the world is negligible and maintains the existence of single God or Brahman. It is like the dream of a person created by the modification of the mind and the mind is negligible compared to the materialistic person. In course of time to satisfy the logic of students, changes in the hypothesis are made by Ramanuja and Madhva who introduced the assumption of a separate material, which is modified as the world without any connection to God. The hypothetical assumptions can be varied for the sake of preaching the truth to the

students in order to satisfy their logic developed from the observation of the world containing only imaginable items. This does not mean that the theories are different. There is only one real theory that both God and the link between God and world are unimaginable. But the preaching requires complete elimination of the word unimaginable and the whole preaching should continue with the assumptions of imaginable items and imaginable relationships between those imaginable items only. In such case all the assumptions are not true at all in the absolute sense. In such case you need not misunderstand that the three Acharyas are differing from each other with different theories of truth. The same truth is explained in different ways with different created assumptions of hypothesis for the sake of understanding of various types of mentalities of the students which are always based on the constant observation of imaginable items only (Ekam Sat Viprah bahudha vadanti…..Veda). The final truth is known to Anjaneya who did not like to preach the truth through assumptions and hence kept silent in preaching. He showed the essence of all the divine knowledge through action (Karma) only because Karma can only be real and fruitful. His recognition of contemporary human incarnation and practical service to Him is the essence of the message of Anjaneya. For those who cannot accept the human incarnation, Shankara preached the divine knowledge with several assumptions and the most powerful assumption is that the soul itself is God. Shankara preached atheists and this powerful assumption attracted them to come and at least here the subject. All the Acharayas followed this method of preaching by assumptions to various levels of students who are based on the logic of imaginable items only. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 197. Existence of God The earth is not rotating by itself. Then why the fan is also not rotating by itself? As the invisible current is rotating the fan, the invisible God is rotating the earth. The rotation of earth is work of God. The earth is also the work of God. The rotation of fan is work. The fan is matter. Matter is a form of energy. Energy is work. Therefore the fan is also a form of work only. Thus everything is dynamism (work) only. The dynamo is God. You will immediately say that the dynamo is matter, matter is energy and since work is energy, dynamo is also a form of work. Then you will say God is also a form of work. This is the problem with the simile for God. Every simile is only a part of the creation and cannot stand as a perfect representation of the creator. God is beyond the concepts of work and no work because God is unimaginable. You can infer the existence of God through this entire wonderful creation (work). But you cannot experience directly unless He enters a particular form of His work which is a human body like Rama, Krishna etc. You can infer the engineer by seeing the wonderful building constructed by him which is his work. But he is present only in a small room of

that building. If you want to have a direct contact with him, you should search the room in which he is present. Since the whole building is his construction only, if you sit in some vacant room and try to talk with him, he will not speak to you. You have to identify that specific room in which he is present. In searching for the engineer you may find some other person in some room and can mistake him also as the engineer. Therefore you must have the knowledge of his identification. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 198. No word can indicate God Several statements of Veda clearly speak that God is completely unimaginable under any circumstances. Silence can only indicate God. Silence means that no word can be used to indicate God. In the creation every imaginable item has the specific name, which cannot be used for any other imaginable item. For example the word pot means only a particular object. The word cloth means another particular object. You cannot use one word for any other object. But God can enter any item of the creation. Therefore, the name of every item can be used to indicate God because there is no specific word for God, who is not at all a specific object. Even if God does not enter an item, the name of that item can be used to indicate God, because you are keeping that item as the representative of God. For example God never enters the inert planet like sun. But still Sun can represent God due to some similarities. God removes ignorance. Sun removes darkness. The lotus buds are opened by sun. The ignorant intelligence is also enlightened by God. Therefore, sun can represent God to some extent. Therefore, the word “sun” can also represent God. Thus, in one extreme end no word can indicate God (Yato vachah-Veda). At another extreme end, the name of any item into which either God can enter or any item, which can represent God, can indicate God. All the prayers of God by thousand names (Shasra Nama) indicate God. When a word indicates God, it is the name of medium into which either God entered or which stands as representative God. This means you can experience God through a specific medium when God enters it. Alternatively you can also imagine the experience of existence of God through a representative item like sun. You can experience the existence of God through Lord Krishna because God entered and exists in the human body of Krishna. In case of sun you can imagine the existence of God through the properties of the sun. Thus, there is difference between the worship of human incarnation and worship of the representative item like sun, statue etc. Veda says that you can worship sun as God, which means that sun is not directly God (Adityam Brahmaiti…Veda). There is difference between the direct worship of king and indirect worship of his photo. In both cases the king is pleased. But in the direct worship the king is extremely pleased because every bit of your service is experienced by king directly. When God enters the human body, God has not become the human body. God is in the human body. Therefore, the human body is not God. You can only experience God through human body. Therefore, by seeing the human body you have not seen God, but you have only experienced God through that human body. Therefore, God is invisible. Of course, a devotee can be satisfied by treating the human body as God and can feel

satisfied that he has seen God. From this angle Veda says, “A blessed fellow has seen God” (Kaschit Dhirah…..). At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 199. God alone knows God Whenever you think about God, the thinking itself is a form made of awareness or mind, even though you claim that you are thinking about formless God. You can never think any thing, which is formless because your thinking itself is a form. The form may have some specific boundaries like a statue. The form may not have specific boundaries like air or water. But the air or water also has some regular or irregular boundaries since the air or water has certain limits. You call the space as formless object. But the space has some limitations somewhere and you do not perceive those limits. Such limits may not be perceived but certainly exist. Therefore, the concept of your formless object has some boundaries, which are either irregular or not perceived. When you think God as awareness (Chit), the awareness is mind, which is nervous energy. Energy is in the form of waves and thus cannot be formless. According to the special theory of relativity of Einstein, the space is also a form of energy because space exhibits the property of bending. In that case, the space also cannot be formless. Even if you consider the space as infinite vacuum, you are aware of the space. Such awareness itself means that space has become a form of awareness or mental energy. Therefore, strictly speaking there is no formless object in the creation. You are calling the object, which has either irregular or infinite boundaries, which are imagined, as formless. Since, such formless object also is a form in strict sense. Formless concept is impossible. Therefore, whether you say that God created the space or God created the energy in the beginning, both statements mean the same because space is also a form of energy only. Veda said that Para Brahman created the space in the beginning (Atmana Akasah..). The Veda says again that Para Brahman created energy in the beginning (Tat Tejo..). Both the Vedic statements mean the same in terms of the latest concept of Science. However, let such space or energy be called as formless God in your language. Even to think such formless God, it becomes very very difficult for any ordinary human being. Even a scholar cannot maintain such concept in his mind for a long time. Even if you maintain such concept, such God is not the absolute God because absolute God is completely unimaginable as per Veda and Gita (Yasyaa matam…., Mamtu Veda Na…). God imagined as space or awareness (mental energy) is not the absolute the God, who is beyond space and awareness. Veda says that God created space. Veda says that God is beyond awareness. The creator is always beyond the creation. Even in the absence of the creation, the creator must exist. According to Brahma Sutras, God is the cause of this Universe as creator and is the material cause also. The pot maker is the creator of the pot. The mud is the material cause of the pot. Even in the absence of pot, the pot maker and the mud exist. Therefore, God existed even before the creation of the Universe. The pot maker and mud exists even after the destruction of the pot. Similarly, after the destruction of the world also God must exist. Similarly God must exist before the

creation of the space and after the dissolution of the space. You can never imagine the situation, which is before the creation or after dissolution of space. Your intelligence cannot cross the special dimensions and therefore cannot cross the concept of space. That means you can never imagine the God. Veda says that God alone knows God (Brahma vit Brahmaiva…). Therefore, when you imagine God as the all-pervading space, such imagination itself is an item of creation only. Such imagination is only the incarnation of the God. When you imagine Him as space, God has entered the space and God is in the space. Similarly, if you imagine God as all pervading energy, you have imagined the energy only in which God is present. Therefore, you perceive God as space or inert energy or mental energy (awareness) and such form of God is only the incarnation of God in the form of space or inert energy or awareness. This means you can perceive only the incarnation of God and never the absolute God. At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami 200. Lord- Atheist –Service Building is there. Implies Builder should be there. Creation is there. Creator should be there. I can see the building, which is in front of my eyes, but builder need not stand in front of the building. He will be in his own job. If you want to meet the builder, you should definitely put effort to locate the builder and see him. Likewise Creation is there in front of our eyes. But have we put anytime effort to locate and identify the creator? Instead of that, with least effort we can propagate to others also that God is not there. They are not only blinded, they are making others also blinded. Some people who are theists may become prey for the propagation of this ignorance also unfortunately. The greatest sin on the earth is to be unfaithful. To identify the builder you should know the identification marks, where he lives, what he does etc.. and we have to enquire if we don't know. i.e., knowledge is required to identify any person. This knowledge is called divine knowledge if the aim is to identify the Lord, which actually only is to be propagated. Lord created this universe for the enjoyment without any selfish motive and we human beings are enjoying the creation. Like through nice parents, wife, children, beautiful nature consisting of pleasant looking mountains, rivers, sea, nature, changing weather etc. If we cannot please the Lord, the human life is incomplete. We serve our family members by spending our hard earned money and also physically. Are we not serving family as Servant, and these family members are nearly equal to us. Where as, Lord is omnipotent and requires no help from us, many times satisfied our desires, saved us from mishaps etc. and if we cannot bow our head in front of Him, it is very ridiculous. It is very great

honour to serve Him, this is the path followed by His real devotees. These real devotees could overcome ego and always wants to serve Him as servant. Jesus preached the gospel and His followers participated in His mission as servants for further propagation of divine knowledge.
