Differences in written and oral messages Oral messages are messages or testimony transmitted orally between people. The messages or testimony are verbally transmitted in speech or song and may take the form of folktales, sayings, ballads, songs, or chants. Speaking is a dynamic transfer of information. Written messages is passing of information in written form and this messages can take the form of letters, books, e-mails and so on. Writing is a static form of information transfer. Advantages and Disadvantages of written messages Advantages can be edited and revised several times before they are sent so that the content can be shaped to maximum effect provides a permanent record of the messages enable recipients to take more time in reviewing the message and providing appropriate feedback more appropriate for complex business messages that include important facts and figures Written words can be chosen with greater deliberation and thought, and a written argument can be extraordinarily sophisticated, intricate, and lengthy

Disadvantages take more time to compose Difficulties for people struggling in writing messages the sender of written communication does not generally receive immediate feedback to his or her message Can be hard to understand especially in technical writing People may not always read them

Disadvantages Can forget information if does not have good memories Sometime the audience cannot pay attention because of the place or environment. Can be misunderstood if the presentation is poor
