VALENTIN

ELIZALDE Feb 1,1979 - Nov 25,2006

Was a popular Mexican Banda Music Singer. He was known by the nickname, “El Gallo De Oro”, (The Golden Roster). Elizalde was born in a town named Navojoa, Sonora. Then he moved to Guadalajara, Jalisco where his father, Lalo Elizalde “El Gallo” (The Roster), and his brother resided for a few years. His father, also a singer, died in a car accident on the “Curva of Death” in the city of Villa Juares, Sonora. His death is related to “Los Zetas” a gang employed by the Gulf Cartel, killing him outside of his Palenque. Mario Mendoza, Elizalde’s manager and driver, Reynaldo Ballesteros, were gunned down in an ambush after a concert in the city of Reynosa in an apparent gangland hit on Saturday , Nov 25. His cousin Tano was also shot several times in the arm. Valentine died in his cousin’s arms. The 27-year –old Valentine Elizalde was killed about 20 minutes after performing at a local fair. I choose this singer because I had a cousin that died kind of like Valentin Elizalde, but my cousin’s, death was on his birthday on October 31, 2004 in Tijuana, Mexico. My cousin Daniel Luevano, was killed by a gang too. When I hear Valentin’s songs I am reminded of my cousin and that’s why I choose Valentine Elizalde.
