Selena {April 16, 1971 - March 31, 1995}

Selena was a famous Mexican singer who affected many of people’s lives in a good way. She was from Corpus Christy, Texas and had a beautiful voice. She started out when she was a little girl singing in a band with her family, they were called Los Dinos and would sing in her father’s restaurant. She loved what she did, then she started to get more professional and was now making a record and got signed and was a hit. Selena was mostly on tour, she did home studies and got two new band members their names were Roger Garcia and Chris Perez. Selena saw something in Chris that know one else saw. She started to like him, but her father didn’t agree with the romance, but Selena loved him and they got married April 2,1992. Selena was doing it big and won a Grammy in 1994. She was a great person and made history. The reason I chose Selena was because I loved her music and everything she said was real. She loved her family very much and was a beautiful person. She loved her dad very much and that reminds me of me because I love my family and I love to sing just like she did. I especially admire the way she respected herself – she did not have to dress provocatively to become popular, she was herself and people loved her for that. I know that I don’t have to dress like most girls do just to get attention, I have a strong personality that people like and respect. Selena will always be remembered and loved.
