I listened to 4-5 hours worth of Andrews tapes on way to UVA and back, there was probably 2 minutes, max, of transmission during that time. However, one of the brief transmissions was a nugget. At about 1021 (about six minutes into a tape that began at 1015, Radar Handoff Position, a female voice clearly speaks to a probably male voice (very very faint). They are discussing a plane that will probably land in Maryland. She says she hopes so because if he comes up on her frequency he will be shot down. Arnold's testimony aside, that is the earliest explicit reference to shootdown that I can recall hearing. Miles
