All children should have created a paper sculpture using at least 3 different paper folding techniques. Some children should also incorporate their own paper folding techniques.
_____________________________________________________________________ Details Introduction Share learning objectives and success criteria with children. Discuss how sculptures enhance the environment. Children discuss with their response partner any sculptures they have seen. What were they made of? How did they make the environment a better place? On Smartboard display pictures of sculptures in playgrounds. Teaching Explain to the children that they will be creating paper sculptures which, if made on a larger scale, could be put into a playground to enhance the environment and for children to play on. Using the visualiser demonstrate paper folding techniques – curling, weaving, plaiting, fringing, pleating and twisting. Show how children can use these techniques to create a paper sculpture. Independent Activity Children use different coloured paper and card to create their own sculptures. Extension – encourage children to develop their own paper folding techniques. Plenary – Show sculptures on visualiser and children identify different paper folding techniques and give positive criticism.
