WILMINGTON SHOW The Wilmington show was really nice. They had 162 cars on the grounds, and 17 pre1
registered that didn’t make it. I don’t know where they would have put them, because it was packed already. We had four cars there, all MGBs. David and Jo Davis, Walt and Iris Brown, Jeff and Pam Jones and Fred and Betty DeShong. Charley and Edit Hylton came to the show, but were visiting Charley’s sister so they drove the Trailblazer. Jeff and Pam got third place for Chrome Bumper B’s and there were a number of nice cars in that class. Fred

Fred began the meeting with a recap of the year – from rainy car shows to beautiful weather car shows. Our club makes a good representation at every show we attend. Of course, our own CBC III was the main event of 2009. Edith presented the treasurer’s report. In summary, as of November 2008 we had a balance of $10, 164.71 and, as of November 2009, a balance of $12,659.92. We have donated $1,000 each to Camp Kemo and Juvenile Diabetes. Details are available from Edith. Todd Smith, Brad Wik and Mike Speer were honored for their contributions to the club and the annual car show. Elections were held with the following results – President Fred, Vice President Dennis, Secretary Betty D, Treasurer Edith. Fred still needs a few Marque secretaries and a social secretary. Tony has volunteered to assist with the Car Show. Todd will be on a consultant retainer (twice his pay as chairman). The Board has decided to meet bi-monthly, beginning in January. The new location is where Edith works, 208 Candy Lane. This is just off the Greystone (Zoo) exit. Charlie and Edith were celebrating their 6th wedding anniversary! Steve gave an update on the website – new way to view the newsletter, new photos of members is a project for all of us. Doug West, of BPG, gave a very entertaining presentation on racing cars and the company. His first British car was a 1954 A/H 104. The cars have become his passion, along with his five children. He sold a previous company and retired at the age of 41. Since then, he started BPS with 3 other men. He races vintage cars. The video he showed was of a 1964 TR 4, racing a course in Virginia. The main thing to remember about racing is reducing the risk. Words of wisdom: ‘Risk is not knowing what you’re doing.’ Warren Buffet He invited us to visit the shop the next time we’re in the neighborhood of Flat Rock, NC. He also invited us to a Vintage Race in Atlanta, December 11-13, www.vintagedrive.com CHRISTMAS PARTY Have you told Fred that you plan to attend? It should be a wonderful evening.
