Dear Community Preservation Panel and Planning Board, At the February 7, 2007 Community Preservation Panel meeting, during a discussion regarding a proposed new driveway and parking area for 323 Main Street, a letter which presented a private offer to the owners of that property was made public. That was the only time that I, or anyone in my family, have seen or been made aware of that private correspondence and its contents. Because the letter pertains to private matters between private citizens, it was inappropriate for the letter to go the CPP, or to be accepted by the CPP. Because it pertains to a personal matter it should not be considered for discussion in future meetings. Only if some agreement had been reached by the parties involved, and that agreement fell under the purview of the CPP, should that matter then have been brought before the CPP to be discussed and voted on. Without such an agreement, the offer should have remained a private matter between the two parties. It appears to me that this letter, and the offer it contains, was sent to the village government in an effort to put public pressure on the Hollands to accommodate the personal wishes of its authors. This letter has nothing to do with village government. It is a private matter which has now been made part of the public record. I request that the letter be returned to the sender and stricken from the CPP record. Sincerely, Laura Holland
