Darlington Public School S & C Annual General Meeting 2nd September, 2009 Meeting commenced: 6.10pm The President acknowledged the traditional owners Present: Colleen Hayward, Lulu Mitchell, Anna Huppauf, Sue Newsome, Marijke Tombs, Jen Burn, Peter Denholm, Anne Fitzpatrick, Lesley Blackett, Jenny McAllister, Kathi Hillier, Paul McLean, Ron Clarke, Binh Pham, Mary Thompson, Nick Vanos, Anne Butler Apologies: Rae Cooper, Tim Ayres, Julie Moffat, Georgina Andrews, Jenny Chiu, Christina Tennant Previous meeting’s minutes: Received President’s Annual Report: Tabled. Please see attached report. Comment: Point 3. Paul McLean suggested possible renaming of Spring Fling Revue Night to Darlo Idol. (This fund-raiser has subsequently been postponed.) Comment: Point 4. Kathi Hillier says she thinks the current fund-raising goal for playground equipment is about $30,000. Action: Point 5. ii) S&C to include an invitation to ‘tea and tissues’ in the school’s general information package which is sent out to parents of prospective new students at the beginning of December. (Suggested quantity of invitations 40 – 50.) Comment: Point 5. Anne Fitzgerald mentioned that additional parent involvement has included painting totem poles. If you’d like to do some painting too she recommends you see the class teacher. Treasurer’s Annual Report: Tabled and available at November meeting. Correction: Kathi says expenses table needs to be adjusted due to the library expenses being different from the listing on the report. The new desk for the library actually cost $2,321 (not $2,880) which leaves $1,679 remaining from the original grant of $4,000.

Principal’s Report: Tabled. Please see attached report. Nomination and Voting for the positions of: President: Nick Vanos nominated by Lulu Mitchell, seconded by Kathi Hillier. Vote carried unanimously. Vice President: Julie Moffat nominated by Lulu Mitchell, seconded by Jen Burn. Vote carried unanimously. Secretary: Secretaries Marijke Tombs and Sue Newsome agreed that they are happy to stay on for a 2nd year as joint secretaries. Treasurer: Jen Burn nominated by Lulu Mitchell and seconded by Kathi Hillier. Vote carried unanimously. New Business: 1. The Darlo Revue Night (Spring Fling or Darlo Idol?) was set for 25th September but was subsequently postponed due to the busy calendar of events and the need to focus on the fete preparations. Considerations for future Revue Night plans (2010) include: making an advertisement including full information about food and table sizes, setting up parent advocates for each class to disseminate information and printing tickets for the occasion. 2. Colleen suggested that the S&C think very carefully about whether or not spending fundraising money on playground equipment is the best use of our funds. She suggested consideration be given to investing in more white boards rather than play equipment. Meeting closed: 7.23pm
