Print The Toronto Star—city reporter, summer 2009 -Responsible for both daily news, as well as long-term feature projects. Gained experience in a variety of departments: writing on deadline for National, first-person narratives for Travel, and general reporting for the Sports section.
The Toronto Star—radio room reporter, summer 2008 -Responsible for breaking news, while averaging five or more articles each shift. Was in constant communication with Toronto emergency services, and developed arsenal for efficient fact-finding while writing on deadline.
The Ottawa Citizen—general assignment reporting intern, winter 2007 -Worked on everything from breaking news to a feature about bird watching in a blizzard. Covered provincial election night, and have freelances features and profiles for the newspaper while completing a Masters degree at Carleton.
The Queen’s Journal—Sports Editor, 2005 to 2006 -In charge of overall direction of section, assigning stories, editing, layout, reporting, and writing a regular column.
Television and Documentary Robot Picnic Productions—co-founder, 2009 -An independent production company that develops television programming and documentaries. Currently producing a documentary about child survivors of the Rwandan genocide, now living in small community in Ottawa, Ontario.
NFB/CBC Hot Docs Finalist—winter, 2009 -A short-length documentary film competition. Selected for a short film about the personal account of an elderly widow moving from her home into a retirement facility.
Documentary film writer/producer—fall, 2008 -Lead writer for Run Coconut Run, a documentary about an Indo-Canadian woman, grappling with her cultural identity as a second-generation immigrant and her experience growing up in rural British Columbia, as the two worlds collide in the form of love and marriage.
CTV Ottawa, general reporting intern—Spring 2008 -Completed news report packages, with on-camera stand-ups for the daily evening news program.
Multimedia Journalism Ofonemind.ca—Creator, producer, writer, videographer, photographer—Winter 2009 -Website chronicles the experience of living with an Amish family in southern Ontario, using print, still images, audio, and video to capture a complete and honest account of the Amish experience. This project was submitted as a final degree requirement for a graduate degree in Journalism.
Gwordproject.org—Creator, producer, writer, videographer, photographer—Winter 2009 - A multimedia project, chronicling a two-month stay in Rwanda, with the attempt to develop a picture of the nation as it exists today—outside the dark shadow of the 1994 genocide.
Radio Iwacu Heza, City Radio, Kigali—Host/Producer, spring 2009 -Developed, planned, reported, produced, and hosted a weekly show about travel across Rwanda. Listeners were encouraged to join trips, having not previously had the opportunity to see the magnificent landscapes and genuine people of their own nation. The program worked in conjunction with the Rwanda Initiative journalism exchange program, through Carleton University.

Volleyball, Basketball, and Hockey Coach—Fall/winter 2006/2007 - Worked with teams after school while volunteering at LaSalle Secondary School.
At-Risk Youth Advisor, Youthreach—Dublin, Ireland, spring 2007 -Worked with students expelled from area public schools, learning applicable life schools—such as cooking, resume building, and basic job skills.
Teacher Training Facilitator, CIDA—Guyana, summer 2006 -Lived in rural Guyana for three months, working with local teachers seeking to improve their resources and prepare them for upcoming mandatory government testing for educators.
Inmate Tutor, Kingston Penitentiary, Frontier College—2004 to 2006 -Taught basic literacy skills to inmates during weekly visits to the prison.
Head Chair, Concurrent Education Orientation Week, Kingston—2004 -Oversaw the organization, budget, and planning for Con-Ed orientation week. In charge of overseeing over 50 workers and employees.
