A Project on “Indian Public Sector Banks in the Hi-Tech Environment Challenges Ahead: A Case Study of State Bank Group in Hyderabad District of A.P.” approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) a grant of Rs 58, 000 sanctioned during 2007-08 to develop a Minor research project.

Details: The financial system of our country consists of organized and unorganized sector. The organized sector represents the structure nationalized banks, co-operative banks, and development banks; this includes the private sector also. The Reserve Bank of India controls this sector. Commercial Banks play a dominant role in the process of financial intermediation which credit and monetary policies are transmitted to the economy, with the privatization, liberalization and globalization processes have been introduced in our country in the early 90’s the banking sector has undergone drastic changes. India moved from a closed financial system to free financial system. These changes tried to improve the efficiency of the banking sector. New norms were suggested to tackle the internal deficiencies as well as external environment of the banking sector. But these changes are creating some challenges. The present study discusses few challenges in the High-Tech Environment are being faced by PSBs in India. •

A Minor research project submitted for approval to the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) on “A study in cross country experience in housing finance” with reference to ICICI and SBI in the private & Public Sector Banks, in 2008 Mumbai, INDIA. A grant of Rs 1, 50,000. 5

Details: From the time immemorial shelter was considered as a basic need of a man. To a modern man no other problem is as intriguing and mind boggling as the housing problem. The capital cost of a house is very high multitude of the average income of the person. Against the milieu of rapid urbanization and a changing socioeconomic scenario, the demand for housing has grown explosively. Having identified housing as a priority area in the present five year plan, the National Housing Policy has envisaged an investment target of Rs. 2500 billion (App) for this sector. In order to achieve this investment target, the Government needs to make low cost funds easily available and enforce legal and regulator reforms. The principal Bank goal in housing is to improve housing conditions for low-income populations. This will often involve a focus on upgrading existing housing stock, encouraging the construction of rental housing and regularizing semi-legal neighborhoods. Many times, solutions to these problems involve working closely with community organizations and NGOs. Priority attention should be paid to the lowest income quintile of the national population, to measures that generate employment, and to the difficulties encountered by female heads of households. •

Developed a project on “A comparative study of the syllabi taught at under graduate level in different Universities of the Country” based on primary data (As per the Guidelines of different Universities) who are attended in refresher course during May 2008 at Shimla – INDIA. Details: A major shift has taken place in the relative importance of factors of production. Earlier, the three main factors of production were land, labour and capital. In the recent year however, intellectual labour has become by far the most important factor of production. Educational institutional are the factories where this factor of production is developed. In a developing country like India, learning process is more difficult due to economic, political, and social complexities. The economic liberalization and competition from foreign organization operating in India have put lot of pressure on the educational institution to prepare and develop our human resources. Education in commerce, being professional or vocational education, should be based on the pattern and nature of manpower need in its field. We should study and force the needs of industry for managerial personnel and design the commerce education for providing the appropriate education and training programme on an adequate scale and at the required levels of quality. B.Com. graduates go for higher studies in commerce and management or study for professional qualifications like C.A., cost accounting law and company secretaryship, and management education on seek appointments as accountants, internal auditors, assistants and executive trainees in industrial, commercial banking, insurance undertakings. Both higher studies and these various vocations call for a knowledge and training in basic and background subjects and applied studies. The syllabus of the course should, therefore, be built on the basis of these requirements. 6

International Major Research Project (On Going Project) •

Developing International Major Research Project on “Socio Economic Survey of Al-Kharj in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” as a Research Investigator under the guidance of Principal Investigator and Chief Patron of this Project, The Ministry of Higher Education, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Funding Agency has sanctioned 200 Thousand Saudi Riyals.

Details: Few would deny the vital importance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for a variety of reasons like the successful synthesis of modernity and tradition, sacred Holy Quran as the constitution, crucial significance of vast resources of petroleum reservoirs and above all it being the centre of attention for millions of Muslims all over the world. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a unique model of nation building in which we find that a country has been successfully able to transform it polity from the conditions of eighteenth century to those of the twentieth century within three decades. The Kingdom has very strongly maintained equilibrium in the process of establishing its political system vis-à-vis various stages of development. Ideally, a strong institutional and technological base should be 10

constructed before demands escalate to a point at which they cannot easily be converted into effective governmental resources. This has not happened in most developing systems simply because the rapid expansion of mass participation and the idiosyncratic influences of foreign assistance which stimulate escalation of demands have made this impossible. Fortunately Saudi Arabia Control over external influences on its own values and its ability to sponsor and finance the foreign assistance it needs has made it possible to control to a great extent- the process of its development. The freedom thus provided by enormous wealth is a condition not enjoyed by most developing countries. The study will be conducted with the following objectives: 1- To present the geographic and demographic picture of the area. 2- To estimate the existing socio-economic infrastructure of the area. 3- To project the future requirement of the basic infrastructure. 4- To study the sector wise plan allocation and actual expenditure in the area.
