Computer Experience

Manager. Managed the systems programming staff , the data base administrator and the network server administrators at the American University; the National Software Support Center staff at Magnuson, and the instructional staff at the Computer Learning Center. At the American University, my group handled both academic and administrative computing. Over time, terminalbased systems changed to network-based ones, with all necessary network-based services (e-mail, web, etc.). Systems Programmer. Personally installed, tuned and maintained DOS, DOS/VS, DOS/VSE, VM/370, VM/SP, VM/HPO, VM/XA, VM/ESA, OS/MFT, OS/VS1, MVS/SP, MVS/ESA and UNIX systems. Managed system conversions such as from DOS/VSE and OS/VS1 to MVS. Managed and worked on such diverse software products as TCP/IP, APPC, VTAM, DB2, CICS, JES2, RSCS and SMTP. Systems Engineer. Provided salespersons and customers with the technical specifications of computing hardware. This assistance included sales presentations, proposal writing, configuration planning and installation of the equipment. At Magnuson, provided first-level shooting of hardware malfunctions and micro-code problems. Instructor. Wrote curriculum and taught classes in Computer Concepts, JCL, IBM Assembler Language, COBOL, FORTRAN, RPG and Computer Operations.
