Narciso, Clodualdo III F. BSP 1-3 REFLECTION PAPER A. The Difference of the two creation stories In the first creation story (chapter 1) it portrays the power and the wonders God is capable of doing. It portrays about the creation of the all the things that we see including the ones which are still unknown to us to this day. It simply talks about the creation of everything as well as ourselves. The most wonderful thing about this creation story is that it indirectly talks about the power of our God, that is he the only creator and we are his creation. It indirectly speaks to our hearts that our God is a very specific God. Everything that he created is very detailed and specific, everything in his point of view is important and significant. Everything our God created has a purpose to serve and they are here for a reason. The second creation story entails that is truly a caring and a loving God. The chapter says that of all the creations God has made, the humans are the most significant and as a proof, the bible says that the human is the only creation God breathe himself to. It is known as “the breath of life”. He made the humans the dominant creation that will be in charge of all of his creations. Humans are made in the likeness of God and we must be proud that we belong to those beings that God gave importance. This creation story talks about God’s caring personality because he gave us vegetation and in this vegetation, there is no need for us to water it, there is no need for us to dig and plant them, we do not need to do all the hard work because God arranged everything for us. This creation story also talks about God’s endless love for us, because he does not want us to be alone, he does not want us to feel isolated and lonely. Thus, he gave us a partner, a companion and a helper to our lives. He gave us our own light, a vibrant life which made our lives more colorful. God gave Adam an Eve. B. The reason of the fall Everything was perfect, all things are created the way they are meant to be. All are following the necessary instructions that God had given them. Everything was perfect until the life that came from Adam’s rib (eve) defied God’s instructions. The reason of the fall is when Eve ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God said that if they ate that fruit they will surely die. The term “die” was not literal but it has a very significant meaning. I mean that their relationship with God died because their souls are now filled with seen. They are not pure anymore. Upon eating the fruit awareness also arise that they realized that they are naked. Curiosity can be good but if given the instructions (specific instructions) it is just to obey and be merry. As a result, Adam and Eve were banished from the Garden of Eden. Their life before, the easy and prospering life, with no need to do all the work, the farming, the planting of vegetation, the
killing, it is now over. They would have to start from scratch and work their way to survive.
C. The Promise of Salvation The promise of salvation talks about how God, despite of all the sins and betrayal against him, still loves us and cares for us the way he cared for us since the day he created us. An example of this would be the day Eve ate the forbidden fruit. They became aware of their nakedness. God has a choice to let them be and be miserable but God gave them clothes and God took those clothes from an animal. Meaning, that animal died for the sake of Adam and Eve. God also, did not allow Adam and Eve to eat the fruit in the tree of life because eating the fruit would mean having eternal life. They will live forever. God does not want that to happen because they already ate the forbidden fruit, meaning, the curses, the misfortunes, the sins and everything impure is inside their bodies. God does not want for them to live an eternal life possessing those things. Thus, God banished them from the garden and protected the tree of life. Outside the garden God still protected them, he provided them the necessary things for them to live. God is a forgiving God and still he is the everlasting caring and loving God that we still know today. The salvation here is that, God will always be there for you, he will never leave you nor forsake you. He will be with you ‘till the end. He will provide for you even though you are a sinner, because you are his creation and he creator will always find a way to give the very best for his creation. God portrays that there are second chances, or rather, multiple chances for him to forgive you. He will always forgive you because of his overflowing love for you. All you have to do in return is to obey God, love him dearly and to everything in accordance of him. God will always be the same yesterday, today and forevermore.
