FESTSPIELHAUS BREGENZ The Magic of Performance Since its renovation in 2006 the Festspielhaus boasts a new, extraordinary design with optimised technology and modern furnishings. The house is a successful composition of glass, steel, wood and concrete. The light, glass entrance area and the strict, black outer façade of the workshop stage complement each other perfectly. Built by Escher Wyss & Cie., the "Hohentwiel" was put into operation in 1913. The elegant ship attracted just as much attention as the modern steam engine, which made the "Hohentwiel" the fastest ship on Lake Constance. Because of its luxurious furnishings the ship was used for representation journeys of the royal house of Württemberg. After nearly 30 years in retirement, it was laboriously repaired true to the original from 1986-1990 and has been in operation again since May 1990. Today the "Hohentwiel" shows its old spirit: as the best restored steam ship in Europe, as trade literature writes. Experience a journey on the "Hohentwiel" in the classical style. Enjoy maritime flair on deck, the distinguished elegance in the parlors and the fascination of the powerful steam engine. EXCURSION TIPS RAPPENLOCH GORGE Near Dornbirn. One of the most spectacular gorges of the Eastern Alps.
