Calista Giannonatti [email protected] Dear School Administer(s): Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to apply for a teacher position in your district. I am a hard-working college student with a 3.8 cumulative GPA and currently working on my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD, with an anticipated graduation date of May 2019. I have always loved working with children and seeing their growth and development. I also look forward to working with veteran teachers and learning what best practices they have to show me. During my time at Northern State University, I held two different work positions on campus which have furthered my skills. Most recently, I was a student secretary in the Advising Center where I worked with filing students’ information and making sure their transcripts were correct. Before working there, I worked in the Tutoring Center on campus for one year, where I was a reading tutor. There, I helped students with their reading assignments and writing their journal entries. Both work positions have helped my skills in teaching, whether it was working with paperwork and filing or working with a student that did not understand the content, they have allowed me to better myself as a future educator. I had field experiences my junior and senior years at Northern State University where I was placed in a 4th grade and kindergarten classroom, respectively. Both experiences helped me develop my skills as a teacher by providing an opportunity to create and execute lesson plans and allowed me to see different classroom management practices. During my senior year I also had reading clinic where I tutored a 3rd grade student in reading for 9 weeks. Here, I learned how to use different teaching techniques and the GORT assessment. Lastly, I was involved in Association of the Education of Young Children (AEYC), where we are involved in the community by working the Kids Zone before football games and having a booth at Read Across American where we promoted reading. Lastly, I have just completed student teaching in a 5th grade classroom in the Rapid City School District. After reviewing my résumé, I hope you agree that I am the type of competent and experienced candidate you are looking for. I look forward on elaborating on how my specific skills and abilities will benefit your district. Please, feel free to contact me at (605)593-2412 or via email at [email protected]. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely,

Calista Giannonatti
