TASK: Correcting mistakes from your compositions Second year of Basic level/ 2º curso de Nivel Básico Below, there is a selection of mistakes found in A2 level students’ compositions and the suggested corrections for them. You can try to correct them yourself and then check your answers by looking at the given suggested corrections. • Correct the following mistakes (source: compositions NB2 from October 2009): 1) I´m always very make up. 2) I help my friends cheer up themselves. 3) Please, send me a photo about how’re you. 4) Everything were very cheap. 5) I go every sundays like voluntier to animals protector of La Rioja. 6) In my holidays I travelled to Chile, I falled in love of that people, all are very lovelies and friendly. 7) I hope your letter. 8) I expect that you write me. 9) I have 28 years old. 10) I’m teacher of Maths. In the afternoon, some days it was rain and cloudy. 16) I am three sisters, all are married. 17) The English is very difficult for my. 18) I like walk around the river when is a good weather. 19) We enjoyed very much doing diving. 20) In Jamaica, they spoke a “very strange” english, and was very difficult spoke with they. 21) I study English at the idiom’s school. 22) We had lucky because the weather was hot and sunny. 23) …and I’ve brown eyes. I’m quiet tall and thin. And my friends say that I am a sympathetic girl. 24) I went to Odense city to see where was born Hans Christian Andersen. 25) I enjoyed it so. I took photographies. 26) All can’t be good! 27) I hate watching television because the most of programs are lacking in interest. 28) I finished the summer with San Mateo’s party. 29) The English is my subject unresolved matter, like that I continue learning this language. 30) When I wear jeans, everybody say me: “ You look a different people!” 31) I write you because I want to be your friend. 32) I have two brothers, they are olders than me. 33) I like very much meeting with my friends. 34) Last summer holidays, I did all I like. 35) In my opinion, Italy is as like I walk to the history.

36) The time is going quickly and three months ago that we met in swimming pool Norias, do you remember this moment? 37) This is all at this moment but I’ll promise to write you in another space of time. 38) I like funny and pretty women, I’m not prefer women intelligent, who are with most problems. 39) Madrid is very expensive that Logroño. 40) In summer, my routine day to day is sleep in the morning, after I eat with my grandmother. •

Some days, in the afternoon, it was rainy and cloudy. 16) I have three sisters, who are married/and all of them are married. 17) English is very difficult for me. 18) I like walking along the river bank/next to the river/by the river when the weather is good. 19) We enjoyed diving very much/a lot. 20) In Jamaica, they speak a “very strange” kind of English, and it was very difficult for me to talk to them. 21) I study English at the Language School/at the Official school of Languages. 22) We were lucky because the weather was good: it was hot and sunny. 23) …and I have brown eyes. I’m quite tall and slim. And my friends say that I am a friendly girl. 24) I went to Odense, to see where Hans Christian Andersen was born. 25) I enjoyed it a lot and I took a lot of photographs! 26) Not everything can be good! 27) I hate watching television because most/most of the programs lack interest. 28) I finished my summer enjoying myself at San Mateo’s festival/festivity. 29) English is my unsolved issue! , so that’s why I try to go on learning this language. 30) When I wear jeans, everybody tells me: “You look different today!”

31) I am writing to you because I want to be your friend. 32) I have two brothers, who are older than me. 33) I like meeting my friends very much. 34) Last summer holidays, I did whatever I wanted/fancied. 35) In my opinion, visiting Italy is as if you walked into the past/history. 36) Time goes by so quickly and it’s already three months ago that we met at Norias swimming pool. Do you remember that moment? 37) This is all for the moment, but I promise to write to you more on another occasion. 38) I like funny and pretty women. I do not like intelligent women, who have lots of problems. 39) Madrid is more expensive than Logroño. 40) In summer, my daily/day-to-day routine is: sleeping in the morning; and then, I eat with my grandmother. ©By O.
