CONSTRUCTION OF EARTH
The earth is the third planet next to Venus. The earth fulfils all the conditions for the evolution of life on it. The earth takes 24 hours to rotate once about its axis.
CONSTRUCTION OF EARTH
Earth
Earth is round in shape.75% of earth is covered with oceans. It is compared of various elements in varying proportion. Based on density of elements, earth has been divided into three layers:-
1. Crust:
The outer layer of earth is called crust. It is mainly composed of silica and alluminium. It consist of many minerals which are required for existence of life on earth.
2. Mantle:
The layer below crust is called mantle. It is extended 2900 K.m.s below crust. It is mainly composed of magnesium and iron silicate rocks. Bottom of mantle consists of some rocks in liquefied form called magma.
3. Core :
The innermost layer of earth is called core. It is composed of elements like iron and nickel. It’s depth is about 3400 km. and is very hot. It has been divided into two parts called internal and external core.
