Conditional Sentences Types 1 and 2
Form: Type 1
If at the beginning If we come back the same day, the train will be cheaper. If + Present Simple + modal* + main verb in the infinitive
*will, can, may, must
If in the middle The train will be cheaper if we come back the same day.

Form: Type 2
If at the beginning If we took the car, we would have the problem of where to park. If + Past Simple + modal * + main verb in the infinitive
If in the middle We would have the problem of where to park if we took the car.
*would, could, might
We can use were for all persons. If I were rich, I would buy lots of new things.
Affirmative, negative and interrogative example sentences
Type 1 If we come back the same day, the train will be cheaper. If we don’t come back the same day, the train won’t be cheaper. Will the train be cheaper if we come back the same day?
Type 2 If we took the car, we would have the problem of where to park. If we didn’t take the car, we wouldn’t have the problem of where to park. Would we have the problem of where to park if we took the car?
Use Type 1 Conditions which are very probable in the present or future Type 2 Conditions which are improbable or impossible in the present or future
