This week’s comment: John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world (us) that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” God LOVED ………… and He GAVE. He gave His very best for us. He gave up His only Son to make a difference in our lives – to redeem us, to buy us back from our fallen sinful state, to pay the highest price for us. Jesus willingly left the throne of Heavn, the glorious place of His Father’s presence, and came to be a man in this corrupt world. He suffered and felt every thing that we have ever been through in our lives or will ever go through …… for us. God was longing to restore fellowship again with the people He created in His own image. What love! ………… and what a desire! How do we respond to this love and desire of God? God calls us to LOVE – LOVE the Lord your God with all your heart and all your mind and with all your soul. God calls us to GIVE – Love your neighbour as yourself. As we express our love to God and to each other, we desire to give. Giving comes out of loving. Loving and giving are connected. Can we love and give as God calls us to? YES! His grace enables us, through the power of the Holy Spirit. “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by knowledge and virtue ……’” 2 Peter 1:2 – 3 In Acts 3:6, “Peter said, silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have, I give you; In the Name of Jesus of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” “As Christ is, so are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17 So, let’s be His hands and His feet; love and give with everything God has given us …… and bring Him glory. God LOVED ………… and He GAVE.
