JOIN A PARC (Preservation and Restoration Crews) WARNING!! Once you work with one of these groups, you’ll find it’s contagious and you may catch PARC fever. These projects are a perfect opportunity for Ranch owners and their families (especially those who live locally) to take a more active role in the restoration/preservation of our Ranch’s unique scenic areas. If you have an idea for a project not listed and are willing to organize it, or interested in information on approved projects, call our Ranch Manager Greg Watts or email him at
[email protected], for project approval (organizer/contact person required to obtain project approval) Watch 9Lines for project WISH LISTS, scheduled workdays and updates!
FALL VOLUNTEER PROJECTS Several of our board of directors, and other dedicated owners, organized several volunteer preservation and restoration projects for the coming months while there is less activity on the Ranch. These volunteer crews have no affiliation to a committee/club, no officers or attempts to generate funds (although donations of a skill/products/items for specific projects are accepted). Approved planned projects underway (or coming soon) and a contact person for each project is: Projects in Progress LOVE HOLE AREA – Larry Armstrong (Email:
[email protected]) Parking area and Foot Traffic Only signs coming as soon as weather permits work back in that area. C9R “LODGE” RENTAL – Marie Pilkinton (501-691-0267) Taking bids on flooring from installers/owners. Wish List is down to 2 queen beds (good condition)
SPRING LANE FALLS AREA – Larry Armstrong (Email:
[email protected]) This area in the last two years has become barren of grass and other natural resources. A rock fence has been approved and it will be assembled to stop all ATV traffic up to the bank across from the falls. This will enable nature to regenerate its natural beauty over the next few years. Foot traffic only will be allowed in the fenced area. The plan calls for picnic tables will remain in the scenic area. Projects Beginning Before Next Season GUN RANGE - Mag Greig

I’VE GOT A QUESTION Do you have a question about something on the Ranch, but can’t find anyone who seems to have the answer? Please email
[email protected] your question and we’ll find the answer for you. When space permits, we will publish some of the questions and answers here in the 9Lines. t Q. I have heard there is a possibility Lonesome campground will remain open all winter. Is this going to happen? A. No. Lonesome has historically closed around Thanksgiving every year. The request to keep it open comes up every year because many believe Lonesome would be a logical campground to have open during the winter months. Now with Wi-Fi capabilities, there is added interest. Ranch Management has always declined requests to designate Lonesome as the winter location for several reasons. First and foremost, in snow or icy road conditions it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to navigate the hilly road terrain surrounding Lonesome. Occupants would be virtually trapped in extreme weather conditions. To the contrary, Hill Country and Powder Mill have access to the snow gate leading to the County Road. Secondly, Lonesome’s sewer system must be pumped and this would cause major problems if occupied heavily during winter months.

PICTURE THIS – TIMES PAST From left to right, Cliff Rushing, Sean Kembrel, Gene Bean (former Chief of Security) and Chuck Rushing.
These guys claim the best years of Cloud 9 Ranch belong to them (along with Mike Edmmonds not shown in picture). Back in the early days of Cloud 9 Ranch, the guys in the photo above were the C9R Warriors and worked hard helping Gene Bean earn his pay as Chief of Security. Last July 4th, they had a great visit and lots of reminiscing. They had a lot of laughs, remembering one night they had a big bonfire going. They kept hearing a noise in the edge of the woods and it kept coming closer and closer. So, the guys started chunking rocks at the sound and then the “monster” appeared. It was Gene Bean who was amazed at their accuracies. HALLOWEEN PARTY PICTURES! Activities Committee Potluck
