California Lutheran High School Update October, 2009 Be Still and Know That I Am God! Enrollment Blessings It is hard to believe that we are already coming up to the first quarter break in this school year. What a blessing it is to announce that we have ninety-four students! As private schools around us have enrollments declining in mass numbers, the Lord has blessed CLHS with about the same number of students as last year. We commend these Christian parents for their dedication to providing a Christ-centered education for their teens.
Financial News The CLHS Association passed a budget that includes $28, 876 of monthly offerings. So far, this fiscal year (July ‘09-June ‘10) we have received only $47,171 of gifts. That is approximately $40,000 short of our budgeted need. Please consider making a special donation this month. Your support enables CLHS to prepare high school students for lives of service. When you support CLHS, you are part of something very special – molding the Christian leaders of tomorrow. Please call Superintendent Andrew Aguilar for more information on how you can support the CLHS ministry to teens.

In addition to the many alumni coming home to their high school, our special guest will be Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary President Paul Wendlend. In concert with Trinity Worldwide Reprographics, we will be hosting a “Meet and Greet” with President Wendlend after the varsity football game. We look forward to spending some time with you at this year’s Homecoming events. Come meet Cecil the C-Hawk, our new mascot donated by last year’s graduating class!
Saved to Serve “Saved to Serve” is up and running! CLHS students are required to serve a given number of hours in each of two areas: congregation and community. This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to use their God-given talents and time outside of school. This is another way that CLHS teaches students to be Christian leaders – servant leaders. Please keep your CLHS students in mind when seeking volunteers for church projects!
Guest Speaker We are happy to announce that Pastor Robert Fleischmann will be on campus October 22nd to deliver a chapel message and lead some classes. Pastor Fleischmann is the director of Christian Life Resources, a synod entity which addresses all life and death issues. You are all invited to come for his chapel presentation. For more information, please call the school office.
