Instrumental Band Program Survey

May 20, 2009 Dear Parents, As you may know we are considering offering an instrumental instruction program at Apostles beginning next year. (See box below.) This is simply a survey to determine if there is enough interest to proceed with such a program. Please read over the following information and return the survey to your child’s teacher or the office as soon as possible but at least by Wednesday, May 27th. Blessings, Mr. Luehring Instruction would be provided by Harry and Chris Reid have been offering instrumental lessons in area public schools for over a decade. They are active members of First Immanuel Lutheran Church in San Jose (Missouri Synod). An instrumental program at Apostles would be organized with many of the following elements: -Instruction could begin in grade 3. -Instruments would include: clarinet, flute, sax, brass, guitar, and percussion. -They would pull out a small group of 3-5 students for a 30-40 minute lesson. The cost would be $10 per lesson payable to the instructor. They offer multiple child discounts. -Individual lessons could possibly be arranged for extra cost of about $8 per lesson. -If there was enough interest they could put our instruments together in a band that would practice weekly as well. (additional $5 - $8 per session) This would likely lead to a couple concerts a year. -Students would have to rent (or buy or borrow) their instruments.
