Chromatic Etudes for All Instruments For each of these, when ascending begin on the lowest note of your instrument and play to the highest (the starting note 'C' is only written for convenience). Likewise, when descending begin on the highest note and play to the lowest. Play at different tempi (also use rit., and accel.), at different dynamics (ppp, fff, mf, cresc., decresc., etc.), and with various articulation combinations (legato, staccato, accents, etc.).
