No Child Left Inside About the Cover Artist: Christina Leeper Christina Leeper was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. She and her family (husband Andy, daughter Kelsea-Lea, son Jaxon, mother-inlaw Nancy, and father-in-law Harold) came to the Lowcountry in July 2005. Christina's love of the mountains and streams of Tennessee have been transferred to the forests and beaches of the Charleston area. Her favorite activity is to visit Charleston’s historical sites and parks, where she enjoys taking photos of the architecture, wildlife, and landscapes. "My favorite items to photograph are extreme close-ups of interesting textures. I get some funny looks from people as I crouch on the ground photographing pebbles, flowers, or bark," says Leeper.
The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission supports the No Child Left Inside philosophy. On a year-round basis, we promote a wide range of programs that provide excellent opportunities for youth to connect with nature and the outdoors. We want to make it easy for you and your children to discover your natural world. Kid-friendly programs and activities that involve exploring and experiencing the outdoors will be noted with a simple icon.
You can see more of Christina's work by visiting her gallery at www.betterphoto.com and typing her name in the search field. Emails can be sent to
[email protected]. COVER ART: The Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission
features a local artist’s work on the cover of each Quarterly Program Guide. If you are an artist and would like to submit digital files, slides or photos of your artwork, please send them via regular mail (attn: Marketing - Cover Art) and include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for their return. Artwork is also viewed via email at
[email protected]. We do not pay for cover artwork, but we do publish a short bio of the artist with information on how he/she can be contacted. The selected artist also receives a Gold Pass which provides vehicular entry into eight Charleston County Parks for an entire year.
We encourage you and your kids to leave the electronics behind. Get out, play, learn, grow, and make the connection with nature.
Printed on Recycled Paper. We encourage the recycling of this publication... either to a friend or to your recycling center. Thank you.
