General History "When the country is on the brink of destruction, a girl from another world will throw open the door between her world and ours. She will be the priestess of our country's guardian god; she will gather the seven sichiseishi born from stars to protect her and summon the god to save our country." In the Universe of the Four Gods, this prophecy exists throughout the four main countries of Hokkan, Sairou, Konan, and Kutou. Each country believes that a girl will cross between worlds and summon their god: Genbu, the black tortoise or warrior for northern Hokkan; Byakko, the white tiger for western Sairou; Suzaku, the red bird for southern Konan; and Seiryuu, the blue dragon for eastern Kutou. Each god holds under him seven star contellations that mark seven chosen men and women as shichiseishi (celestial warriors) chosen to protect the priestess when she comes. The shichiseishi is given a special power that is used to protect her.

Real World Protagonists Miaka Yūki (Yūki Miaka) is the main character in the manga and anime series Fushigi Yūgi. She's an ordinary high school girl with a tremendous appetite and is generous and cares greatly for others. She became the priestess of Suzaku, or the Suzaku no Miko. She admittedly isn't the brightest crayon in the box, despite studying extensively for her high school entrance exams and going to juku (cram school) for hours on end. Her goal is to pass the entrance exam for Junon High School to please her mother and be with her best friend Yui (an admitted genius), though she really wants to attend Yotsubadai High School with her friends. Miaka is also an avid fan of anime and imitates several characters during the course of the story. In episode 5 she impersonates Sailor Moon's "I will punish you, in the name of the moon" introduction (this is also a nod to the fact that actress Kae Araki was the voice of Sailor Chibi-Moon) and in later episodes mimicks Astroboy and even Doraemon.

Name Yuuki Miaka "Suzaku No Miko" Date Of Birth: 12 May 1977 Age: 15 Height: 1.58m (about 5 feet, 2 and 1/4 inches) Weight: 48 kg. Blood type: B Birthplace: Tokyo Third District Junior High School, 9th Grade, 4th Homeroom, Seat Number 18. Family: Mother and older brother (Keisuke) Hobbies: Reading manga (comics), eating and making cookies Abilities: As a priestess of Suzaku, has a latent ability to protect herself. Voices: Kae Araki (Japanese), Ruby Marlowe (English), Rose Barin (Tagalog) Personality Outgoing and optimistic. Amiable with everyone. Tends to be guileless and sentimental. Never suspicious. Naïve, but sometimes surprises adults with an insightful comment. Can be unassuming. Magnanimous and courageous but somewhat unsophisticated. Seems to give the impression that she always needs help so she always seems to have someone looking after her. Believes herself to be considerate.

Yui Hongo (Hongou Yui) A very intelligent girl and Miaka's best friend in the real world. Yui becomes trapped in the book universe while trying to help Miaka to return to the real world, and is subsequently caught and raped by bandits. Distraught, she tries to slit her wrists, but is found by Nakago and who brings her to Kutou. Not realising that her rape was orchestrated by Nakago, Yui begins to blame Miaka for what happened to her and turns against her former best friend, becoming the Priestess of Seiryū (Seiryū no Miko), swearing to fight against Miaka and to take Tamahome from her (Yui is also in love with Tamahome). After succeeding in summoning Seiryū, Yui uses her first wish to seal away Suzaku's powers. Her second wish is to take Miaka and herself back to their world, hoping to separate Miaka and Tamahome, but Tamahome also arrives in their world with them. Upon learning that Nakago had been using her all along, she has a change of heart and redeems herself by using her third and last wish to disable the seal on Suzaku, allowing Miaka to summon it, but she is absorbed by Seiryū afterwards. After summoning Suzaku, Miaka used her first wish to rescue Yui, and they became friends again. It should be noted that Yui was not in fact raped, but led to believe she was raped. Nakago rescued her shortly after she was knocked out by the bandits and let her come to her own conclusions after she regained consciousness.

Name Hongo Yui "Seiryuu no Miko" Date of Birth: 26 October 1977 Age: 15 Height: 1.62m (5 feet, 3 3/4 inches) Bloodtype: AB Birthpalce: Tokyo Family: Parents Hobbies: Reading mystery novels, appreciates music Abilities: Excels in studying and exercising, and can speak English. Voices: Yumi Touma (Japanese), Wendee Lee (English) Personality In keeping with her looks, she is more mature than an average 15-year-old. Bold and confident in everything she does. Tends to see the world in black and white. Passionate, but passions turn to fury with perceived betrayal. On the outside, she's supremely self-confident, but underneath, she longs for someone to take care of her.

Suzaku is the red Phoenix god and also the protector of the country of Konan (Hong Nan). He appears to Miaka later when she has returned to her world and asks for her help. He is compassionate as far as the beast gods go, and honestly tries to allow Miaka and Tamahome to be together forever. The Seven Seishi of Suzaku First portrayed as greedy and only seems to want to help out when he is paid. Of course later on in the series it is revealed that he only acts greedy for a special cause. He later fell in love with Miaka after she confessed her love to him and was struck ill. He cares for all the Suzaku Seven and is deeply wounded when some of them die. Tamahome is an easy-going, lovable and sexy warrior. In the OVA Season 1 3rd episode, he is reborn in Miaka's world as Taka.

Star Constellation Name Tamahome "Fighter" Real Name: Sō Kishuku ~ Xong Gui-Xiu AKA: Taka Sukunami, Obake-chan (Little Ghost) Character: Ogre (could also mean Devil or Ghost), located on his forehead Constellation: Cancer Date Of Birth: 28 June Age: 17

Height: 1.80m (about 5 feet, 11 inches) Bloodtype: O Birthplace: Hakko Village, Juso prefecture in Konan Empire ~ Bai-Jiang Village, Shou-Shuang Prefecture, Hong-Nan Weapon: Fists, street fighting, nunchaaku (when he sided with Seiryu) Family: Father (Kyuen), mother (Yuugetsu - died when he was 12), 2 younger brothers (Chuei ~Zhong Rong (12) and Shunkei ~ Chun-Jing (7)), and 2 younger sisters (Gyokuran ~ Yu-Lun (9) and Yuiren ~ Jie-Lian (5)) Hobbies: Making money Abilities: Martial arts in general, he has the ability to channel his Chi into energy blast's and when emotionally motivated he can sometimes use his Chi to increase his strength, speed and reflexes in combat Personality: On the outside he is very chipper, and that leads to some comic expressions. But he's tough on the inside (so he thinks). On the other hand, he is very shy. (He had to become stoic for his family's sake.) That's why he was hard on Miaka at first. He sacrifices himself for the sake of others, and won't back down against an enemy. Voices: Hikaru Midorikawa (Japanese), David Hayter as Sean Barker (English), Lloyd Navera (Tagalog). Taka Sukunami: Miaka's last wish was for her and Tamahome to be together forever. Encouraged by her warriors and by Taiitsukun, Miaka hoped that her heart's desire would be granted. A month later, after her middle school graduation, Miaka's older brother Keisuke introduced her to a new classmate of his, Taka Sukunami. Taka remembered a past life when he was one of seven destined to protect a young girl who would save their world from destruction. He remembered that he was once called Tamahome, but he didn't remember any particular details about his former life. During a class field trip to the Takamatsuzuka Burial Mound in Nara, Suzaku reached out to Miaka to aid him on a quest. A Demon God was threatening the Universe of the Four Gods and her world, and Miaka was once again needed to save the world. A later encounter with Suzaku gives Miaka even more answers as to the origins of Taka. The love between Miaka and Taka was a strong source of Suzaku's powers, and because of their strong love, Suzaku was able to create a version of Tamahome to exist in the real world. However, the Demon God (later revealed to be Tenkō) realized that Suzaku's powers were weak in the real world (attributed to the fact that the southern wall of the Takamatsuzuka Burial Mound was destroyed by grave robbers) and was attempting to ursurp the powers of heaven and destroy everything. Suzaku charged Miaka with the quest of retrieving seven stones (one which had already been recovered) which contained Tamahome's memories. When Tamahome's memories were placed back into Taka, Suzaku's powers would be restored and Tenkō could be sealed away once more..

The beautiful narcissistic fourth emperor of Konan. When he first heard about the Suzaku no Miko at a young age, he thought the priestess would be the one for him and love him for himself, instead of his title. Eventually, when he met Miaka, he loved her deeply and would do anything for her. Thus, he became Tamahome's rival, but stepped aside when he realized Miaka only had eyes for Tamahome. He eventually marries a woman named Houki, who bears a striking resemblance to Nuriko. He is killed by Nakago during the battle between Konan and Kutou, leaving Houki pregnant with his son Boushin.

Star Constellation Name Hotohori "Prince Swordsman" Real Name: Seishuku ~ Xing-Xiu AKA: Saihitei ~ Cai-Pi-Di Character: Stars, located on the left side of his neck Constellation: Hydra Date Of Birth: 2 April Age: 18 Height: 1.82m (5 feet, 11½ inches) Bloodtype: A Birthplace: Eiyo, Capital of Konan Empire ~ Rong-Yang, capital city of the Hong-Nan Empire Weapon: Sword Family: Mother (Motaikō), elder brother (Shu Tendō), 3 half brothers (Ōgi, Bogyoku, and Kotsuki), 2 younger half-sisters, wife (You Houki) and son (Boushin AKA Reizeitei) Hobbies: Reading, fashion Abilities: Fencing (received expert training as a child) Voices: Takehito Koyasu (Japanese), Kirk Thornton as Sparky Thornton (English) Personality He seems like the type that hides his feelings, but he's actually a warm and gentle man. As the ruler of his kingdom, he was raised surrounded by adults, so it's no wonder he looks old for his age. He looks cold and harsh when he's sitting on the throne because of his isolated and lonely upbringing. He never had any real love from his parents, the previous emperor and empress, so he's very attracted to Miaka's warmth. When he's around her, he turns into a normal young man. The worst part (or best part) about him is that he's a total narcissist. Due to his sheltered background he doesn't know much about the world.. Background: Hotohori is the young emperor of Konan Country which he rules fairly and justly. As both of his parents are deceased, his advisors take care of his every need. Hotohori had been told of "Suzaku no Miko" when he was a small child and has yearned to love that woman who would be "Suzaku no Miko". He has an uncanny way of admiring himself and is quite the narcissist. Hotohori finds himself also in love with Miaka and tries to win her, but finds that the love between Tamahome and Miaka is much stronger.

Nuriko first appears disguised as Kourin in the Emperor's harem (which Hotohori never goes to unless to welcome new maidens). "Kourin" was in fact Nuriko's younger sister who died at a young age; he began behaving and dressing like her to keep her memory alive. Nuriko is the only consistently crossdressing, physically strong warrior in the series and is very infatuated with his fellow warrior, Hotohori. In addition to that, it is later revealed that he also loves Miaka (and according to creator Yuu Watase, Nuriko is bisexual), though the exact nature of this love is never revealed due to his death shortly after admitting his love for her. However, within Hotohori's character novel consists a letter written by Nuriko to Houki. It was written just before his death and in it he says he's fallen in love with someone special (Miaka). Nuriko is the first Suzaku warrior to die in the story. He was killed during a fight with Seiryū Seishi Ashitare. Near the end of his life he dresses as a man so he can properly protect Miaka. Nuriko is often the second choice when it comes to 'Favorite Seishi', slightly behind Tasuki and closely followed by Chichiri.

Star Constellation Name Nuriko "Court Warrior" Real Name: Chō Ryūen ~ Tiao Liu-Chuan AKA: Chō Kōrin ~ Tiao Kang-Lin Character: Willow (Yanagi), under his left collar bone Constellation: Hydra Date Of Birth: 10 March Age: 18 Hair Color: Vibrant Purple Height: 1.66m (5 feet, 5½ inches) Bloodtype: B Birthplace: Eiyo, Capital of Konan Empire Weapon: Armlets which increase strength (he got these at the end of season 1, as a reward from Taiitskun) Family: Parents, elder brother named Rokou, younger sister named Kourin (deceased), an uncle named Sonjun, and an aunt called Fuyou Hobbies: Dressing like a woman, fashion, makeup Seishi Powers: Superhuman strength Voices: Chika Sakamoto (Japanese), Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as Melissa Williams (English) Personality Nuriko is biologically a man, but judging by his looks, tone of voice and all other factors, Nuriko seems like a woman, and as a woman is infatuated with Hotohori. The uninitiated may simply see a homosexual, but as Nuriko puts it, "I have a man's body but a woman's heart." When not angry or being calculating, Nuriko can be a very level-headed, compassionate person. He's the jealous type, but he's also a worrier. Nuriko seems to worry most about Miaka and Tamahome's relationship. Miaka looks up to Nuriko as an older sister, but there is a part of him that remains very manly. It should be noted that the reason Nuriko cross-dresses is because he believes that it makes him feel closer to Kourin, as revealed in episodes 30 and 32; as a child, he began cross-dressing days after his sister's demise. Romantic Interests: When Nuriko is first introduced into the series, he identifies as gay and cross-dresses as a woman. While he stops doing so in order to be able to better protect Miaka, he maintains his love for Hotohori. Though he is jealous of Miaka - for Hotohori admits his love for her early on in the series - Nuriko remains (relatively) mature about the situation, and he and Miaka grow close. Later on, Nuriko comes to terms with the fact that his cross-dressing resulted from the unyielding pain of losing his sister Kourin, and concludes that he had been trying to live his life as Kourin would have, not as he would have. This revelation allows him to finally allow himself to experience life as a man. He cuts his hair, which once hung down to his waist in a braid (much to the suprise of his companions), and admits to Tamahome that he loves Miaka as more than a friend. Throughout the rest of the series, even after his death from Ashitare, one of the Seiryu Warriors, the friendship between Nuriko and Miaka remains strong.

Chichiri is a Suzaku celestial warrior in Yu Watase's Fushigi Yūgi. He's a wandering monk that spent the last of his years training under Taiiitsu-kun, the creator. When he first appears, he's wearing a smiling, fox faced mask to conceal a horrid scar he acquired at the age of eighteen when he "learned" that his best friend had in a way cheated with his fiancee. He is the oldest and wisest of all of the Suzaku warriors and thus thinks of himself as their older brother, who looks after them all. He is known to say "na no da" at the end of all of his phrases, which translates to "ya know" in the English version, much to the dismay of the original fans. At the end of the series, he and Tasuki are the only living Suzaku seishi remaining in the Universe of the Four Gods.

Star Constellation Name Chichiri "Face of the Monk" Real Name: Ri Hōjun ~ Li Fang-Zhun Character: Well, located on his right knee Constellation: Gemini Date Of Birth: 21 May Age: Throughout main series & OVA1- 24, Throughout OVA2- 27, Throughout OVA3- (around) 34 Height: 1.75m (5 feet,9 inches) Blood type: Unknown Birthplace: A village along the Shouryuu (Rising Dragon) River, near the nothern Konan-Kutou border Weapon: Staff (shakujou), hat (kasa), mantle (kesa) Family: Parents and a younger sister (all died in flood) Hobbies: Fishing

Seishi Abilities: Learned his abilities from Taiitsukun (Various magical techniques), his first power that awakened was the ability to form a barrier around himself Voices: Tomokazu Seki (Japanese), Jim Taggert as Sean Mitchell (English) Personality An elusive, light hearted character with a secretive past. He can turn super-deformed (chibi) and suddenly be very serious. He's the most neutral character of the Seven Celestial Warriors of Suzaku. If Tamahome and Hotohori are the obvious leaders of the warriors, Chichiri is the man manipulating from the shadows. He's the power behind the throne, and he always helps out. (You could also call him the adult who looks after the kids.) He can use many techniques Taiitsukun taught him. He's unconcerned with his own mortality. He has become much like a typical Zen master with his abandonment of earthly desires. He is the oldest of the Suzaku Seishi, as well as the wises.

Tasuki at first is seen as frank, loud, and a potty mouth (and he usually is). He is often the first choice when it comes to 'Favorite Seishi', very closely followed by Nuriko and Chichiri. He claims to hate all females (This is due to his family- five older sisters, alpha-male mother, and wimp father). He is a pyromaniac leader of Mt. Leikaku bandits. He's one of the funniest characters in the series (the main comical relief) and also the most sentimental, which fans often find contradicts his personality. Beneath that rebellious, tough, bandit exterior is a sensitive sweetie (even if he'll try to deny it). He is also extremely quick and agile. He loves to joke around and just act like a goof-ball, especially with Nuriko and Tamahome, then later Chichiri. His preferred weapon is a metal harisen (fan) that can emit flames when he cries out "Rekka Shin'en" (or "Lekka Shien," depending on the translation). At the end of the series, he and Chichiri are the only (living) Suzaku seishi remaining in the Universe of the Four Gods.

Star Constellation Name Tasuki Real Name: Kō Shun'u ~ Hou Jun-Yu AKA: Genrō ~ Huan-Lang

Character: "Wings", located on his right forearm Constellation: Crater Date Of Birth: 18 April Age: Throughout main series & OVA 1- 17, Throughout OVA2- 19, Throughout OVA3- (Around) 27 Height: 1.78m (5 feet, 10 inches) Bloodtype: B Hair Color: Flame Orange Birthplace: Foot of Mt. Leikaku, in Koshu Taito province of Konan Empire Weapon: The flame throwing Tessen (iron fan) Family: Parents, older sister (Aidou) and 4 other older sisters Hobbies: Drinking, Brawling Seishi Powers: Great martial arts skills, super-human speed, generate fire blast from harisen. Voices: Nobutoshi Canna (Japanese), Daran Norris as James Penrod (English) Personality He's like a little boy who got bigger but no more mature. When the chief bandit (Hakurou) of Mt. Leikaku took Tasuki under his wing, Tasuki found his calling. He started to improve his martial arts skills in order to be like - and carry on after - his mentor as the bandit leader. He also learned (along with Koji) the use of the iron fan which was changed during the first season into a diamond fan by Taiitskun as a reward, and after that only he could make it spew fire. He reluctantly left his close friend Koji as the bandit leader so he could help Miaka and the other seishi on their quests. Tasuki is straight forward, simple minded, and quick to pick a fight. Despite that, he is bound by chivalry, yet gets emotional easily. He unfortunately can't cope with swimming; a few episodes show that Tasuki can't swim. His usual excuse for it is because he's a "man of the mountains". However in the Series 2 OVA, he saves Miaka from drowning by "swimming," that is he pushes along the bottom of the lake in water that only comes up to his armpits. When Chichiri appears, Tasuki is startled into deeper water, where he instinctively began to tread water. Only when Chichiri points out that he can't swim does he stop, resulting in his sinking. During the series, Tasuki's feelings for Miaka are purely brotherly, but in OVA 2, romantic feelings are shown. While under a spell to, in a sense, "bring out his evil inner wants", he nearly rapes her until Taka shows up. Tasuki tries to kill Taka, then suddenly yells "I won't betray my friends!" and tries to kill himself with his tessen, ultimately blowing up the whole building. Tasuki would've died in the explosion (which was his intention) had Mitsukake not arrived to save him. Outfits Tasuki is the most fashion-alert character in Fushigi Yugi. During the series, he (usually) wears a long black-with-blue-rims trenchcoat, boots, and very stylish earrings & necklaces. During OVA 2, it was a deep maroon vest over a white undershirt, with a brown "X" sash across his chest and back, brown pants, and black boots, and his hair was slightly longer. During OVA 3, he wore a pale yellow trenchcoat with brown pants and brown boots, and his hair reached to his waist in a ponytail. The OVA 2 outfit is the general favorite, though the series one comes pretty close. He wore many other outfits as well, but only for small portions.

The healer of Suzaku's warriors. He is soft-spoken and one of the most serious of the Suzaku Seven. The son of a country doctor, he put his natural talents to work and often would help his father with his rounds. However after the death of Shoka, the daughter of the local nobleman and with whom he was in love, Mitsukake gave up medicine and devoted all of his time and energy into finding a miracle herb that could cure any illness. It was during this reclusive stage that Miaka and the others found him, and with a little persuasion managed to get him to join them. During the battle between Konan and Kutou, he is severely wounded by Nakago, and later gives up all his strength to heal the wounded. His cat Tama is the unofficial mascot of the Suzaku Seven, and after Mitsukake's death, becomes Chichiri's pet.

Star Constellation Name Mitsukake "Healer" Real Name: Myō Ju-an ~ Miao Nioh-An Character: Loneliness (but can also mean chariot cross-board), located on his left palm Constellation: Taurus Date Of Birth: 7 May Age: 22 Height: 1.99m (6 feet, 6½ inches) Bloodtype: O Birthplace: Souen village near Choukou of northern part of Konan Empire Weapon: Some fighting abilities (mostly strength-based) Family: Father (Keiyu - died in the same flood that killed Chichiri's family), Mother (died of illness when he was eight) his cat Tama Hobbies: Taking care of animals Abilities: Healing powers, can use often to heal minor injuries but for life threatening injuries he would need up to a day to regenerate his life force. Voice Actors: Kōji Ishii (Japanese), Richard Epcar as Richard George (English) Personality He is silent, and because he is expressionless most of the time, he's thought to be aloof. But he is actually just shy and does not know how to be more outgoing. He is very kind to the weak, as well as to animals, the elderly, kids, and of course the sick. He is utterly devoted to healing. A calm, kind man. Deep inside he still cherishes the memory of the late Shoka.

The youngest and the genius among the seven seishi. He is an extremely intelligent child who becomes attached to Tasuki, and likewise Tasuki becomes attached to him. When he first appears, it is revealed he was studying to take an exam to take a seat in the government. He and Chichiri are the two technical minds of the team, but Chiriko is ruled by his character: when it is not on his body, he is a rather average child with limited intelligence, which is a source of frustration for him. The youngest and weakest member of the group, it is unusual that he would gravitate towards someone like Tasuki; however, the reasoning behind it is that Tasuki always wanted a younger brother and is more than happy to fill the roll for Chiriko. His body was taken over by Seiryū Seishi Miboshi, but after regaining control, he stabs himself, taking Miboshi with him to his death.

Star Constellation Name Chiriko "Knowledgeable Child" Real Name: Ō Dōkun ~ Wang Tao-hui Character: Stretching (can also mean stretched net), located on the top of his right foot Constellation: Hydra Age: 13 Height: 1.48m (4 feet,10 inches) Bloodtype: A Birthplace: Jozen City of west part of Konan Empire Weapon: His incredible intelligence, leaf flute Characteristics: Genius, youngest of group, smart Family: Aged mother, elder brother (Gishou), and a nephew (Doukun) Hobbies: Reading and researching Abilities: Exceptionally high intelligence, (more so when his character appears) however, becomes somewhat of a crybaby when his character disappears. Voice Actors: Tomoko Kawakami (Japanese), Zan (English) Personality Because he is so small for his age, he looks almost like a toddler. His incredibly high IQ gave him an interest in research at a very early age, and his experience of the world has main been through books and study. On the other hand, his intelligence is tied to the appearance of the Chinese character on his foot, and when it disappears, he is even less mentally adept than a normal child his age. (He also becomes something of a crybaby.) He is very sensitive about his height and his peculiar intelligence, and this had made him strive to grow up to be a "man of strength." He is a nice, quiet, good-student type.

Seiryū is the blue dragon, protector of the country of Kutou (Qu Dong). The Seven Seishi of Seiryuu Considered to be the ringleader of all the Seiryu warriors, his cold demeanor and presence are often the drive behind Yui's decisions during the early story stages and is the main antagonist in the tv series. He is also the blonde haired, blue eyed shogun of Kutou, the eastern country and enemy of Konan. All of the Seiryū fear him. His life force is superior to all of the Suzaku warriors combined. When he was younger, he accidentally killed his mother and her assaulter, due to uncontrollable powers. The Emperor of Kutou learned that he was one of the Seiryū's seishi, hence he became the Kutou's general. The mark on his forehead means 'Heart,' which is ironic because he is the only warrior who hates everyone (except for Soi). He arrives at the Real World, attempting to take it over, but is killed by Tamahome when Miaka Yuki finally seals away Seiryu. Interestingly enough, Nakago is the favorite charactor of series creator Yu Watase, as noted on several occasions in the chapter notes, as well in the second installment of the omake, "Tale of the Forbidden Women's Hot Spring" from the series 1 OVA (as stated by Nakago himself).

Star Constellation Name Nakago Real Name: Gi Ayuru Character: Heart, located on forehead Date Of Birth: 17 November Age: 25 Height: 193 cm (6 feet, 3 inches) Bloodtype: Unknown Birthplace: In the West, of the Hin Tribe Weapons: He carries a whip and a sword Family: His mother's name was Matuta and his father's was Gi Koyuu Hobbies: Threatening and picking on Tamahome Seishi abilities: Chi manipulation and psychokinesis Occupation: General of two-thirds of the Kutou army Voice Actor: Tōru Furusawa (Japanaese) Personality Beyond cold, he is arctic ice! His name is a misnomer (a dwelling for the heart); his plans and actions show a complete lack of mercy. He allows for no emotional distraction nor wasted action. Once someone's usefullness is exhausted, the person is eliminated. On the other hand, he has an undeniable charisma which allows him to skillfully manipulate people. But what goes on in his mind is a mystery. Personal Nakago is the last of the Hin tribe. The emperor of Kotou had sent out his soldiers to destroy the Hin tribe as they were hated by everyone. Nakago's mother was raped by the soldiers in front of him when he was a little boy, at this point Nakago used his life force blast and killed the soldiers and his mother. The soldiers recognized him as one of the Seiryuu warriors and they took him to the emperor. The emperor had molested him as Nakago lacked power over himself as a child. But as he grew up he gained complete control over his powers.

Amiboshi is a Seiryu celestial warrior from Yu Watase's Fushigi Yugi. He's the elder twin brother of Suboshi as well. He first appeared impersonating the Suzaku warrior Chiriko under orders from Nakago. After being discovered, he falls into a river and is believed to be dead. He is found by an old couple and pretends that he has amnesia. The couple adopt him as a son and call him Kaika. He saves Miaka while she is searching for the Shinzaho, but he pretends that he does not recognize her. He is the only surviving Seiryū Seishi at the end of the story. His younger brother gave him a forgetfulness potion after he nearly died. He lost his memory forever, which protected him from the fate of the rest of the Seiryū Seishi.

Star Constellation Name Amiboshi Real Name: Bu Koutoku ~ Wu Kang-De AKA: Kaika ~ Huai-ke Character: High spirits (can also mean neck or throat), located on his right shoulder Constellation: Virgo Date Of Birth: 26 August Age: 15 Height: 1.68m (5 feet, 5 inches) Bloodtype: A Birthplace: Tenryo, San'un Province in Kutou Empire Weapons / Powers: He can emit chi through his mouth and channel it through a flute to control peoples' will. When he emits chi through his flute he holds the flute to the left, when he is just playing it he holds it to the right; he's ambidextrous. Family: Father (Kanri), younger brother (Shunkaku) Hobbies: Composing Voice Actors: Yuji Ueda (Japanese), Steve Cannon (English) Personality Tranquil and reserved, but at times he can be single-minded and merciless. Before the events of the book, he was a kind young man determined to judiciously protect his younger brother. For that reason, he was faced with a dilemma and the pain of choosing between the Seiryu warriors and the Suzaku warriors.

He is the younger twin brother of Amiboshi. He fell in love with Priestess of Seiryu, Hongo Yui after she comforted him due to the apparant death of his beloved elder brother. He thus despises Miaka Yuki whom he believes abandoned Yui, and Tamahome whom he believes is the one responsible for Amiboshi's death. With this belief, Suboshi murders Tamahome's father and younger siblings for vengence. He later arrives at the real world trying to kill Miaka and Tamahome, but is killed by his own weapon due to Tamahome's skill as a fighter.

Star Constellation Name Suboshi Real Name: Bu Shunkaku ~ Wu Jun-Jia Character: Horns (could also mean angle or corner), located on right shoulder Constellation: Virgo Date Of Birth: 26 August Age: 15 Height: 1.68m (5 feet, 5 inches) Blood Type: A Weapons / Powers: He can use a secret weapon (a double meteor bell) called the Ryuseisui, and control it with his will (actually there is no other way it can be a weapon). He and his twin brother Amiboshi can communicate to each other by writing messages on their bodies. Family: Father (Kanri), elder brother (Koutoku) Voice Actors: Yuji Ueda (Japanese), Steve Cannon (English) Personality The exact opposite of his brother, he is fierce, very impulsive, and if he gets an idea stuck in his head, he would not listen to reason--he will just rush in like a madman. They lost their parents at a very young age and had a very tough childhood, so he's tightly bonded with his brother. This bond is so strong that he would not hesitate to kill for his brother. Yui was the first person besides his brother to show him any tenderness and he quickly fell in love (first love) with her. It is because of Yui that he feels anger toward Miaka and jealousy toward Tamahome. He and his brother, Amiboshi share a very speacial and sometimes controversial bond throughout the series and beyond.

She was rescued by Nakago when she was a child and afterwards developed a crush on him. Despite being enemies with Suzaku, she actually shows sympathy towards Miaka Yuki and Tamahome. She is killed by Tasuki in a battle between Konan and Kutou in an attempt to save Nakago; she puts herself between Nakago and Tasuki's sword. Nakago then carries her dead body until he passes from the world of the book into the Real World. She is seen again by Nakago in "paradise," alongside his mother when he dies.

She fell in love with Nakago at the age of 12 when she first met him. She knew her love was unrequited, and that she was being used so he could recover and heighten his chi, but that did not stop her from giving him everything she had. She is normally bound in armor, speaks like a man, and is formidable as a fighter. But now, everything she does is, in one way or another, to try to assist Nakago. In fact, she is very feminine and kind. Because of her jealousy toward Yui, she is sympathetic to Miaka. Like Tomo, she has no desire to harm Miaka, but she says she would do anything for the sake of Nakago.

Ashitare is a half-wolf, half-human beast from Hokkan whom Nakago found in a circus tent. Nakago later killed him after being half-killed by Nuriko. Ashitare half way died when Nuriko snapped his neck in battle, although he manages to fatally wound Nuriko. Nakago explains in the manga that Ashitare's human side was what really died and that his beast side stayed alive, took over, and, upon order of Nakago, stole the Shinzaho of the Genbu priestess.

Star Constellation Name Ashitare Real Name: Unknown Character: "Bi" (Tail) located on right hip Constellation: Scorpio Date of Birth: 21 November Age: 34 Height: 2.13m Hobbies: Cannibalism Seishi Abilities: Can change into a wolf. It then extracts their memories and plays a sort of movie scenario for the victim, as is done to Miaka. Tomo can also have Shin memorize things to replay the information at a later time. He also has limited telekenetic powers over the feathers on his headdress. Voice Actor: Nobuo Tobita (Japanese) Personality Having faced hardship since childhood, Tomo is sadistic and cruel. His mind is contorted and he is severe with others. It is said he was taken in by dancers when he was young, exposing him to the world of Chinese opera. This fact would explain why he wears a Chinese Opera costume, consisting of a long, brilliant red jacket that has golden shoulders with a black high-collared neck with gold trim, and simple white breeches with long boots, his headdress, and his make-up. Tamahome wastes no time to make fun of the way Tomo looks, though he does not even faze Tomo. Tomo is in love with Nakago, but Nakago only thinks of Tomo as a fellow Seiryu Seishi. Some believe that Tomo is one of Nakago's most trusted allies because he freely discusses his plans with him. Nakago also allowed Tomo the task of ridding them of Miaka and the rest of the Suzaku Seven. Like Nakago, Tomo has little or no desire to harm Miaka. He says that he dislikes taking advantage of women but he would do anything for the sake of Nakago. Also, because of his feelings for Nakago, he does not get along with Soi, although they can work efficiantly together at times.

Takiko is impulsive and strong willed, though she can be insecure at times. She can fight well with a naginata, a spear-like weapon, and does well in her studies. Personal History "When the Genbu no Miko throws open the door between her world and ours, your son will certainly kill you." This is yet another prophecy made after the “Four Gods Prophecy”, this time told to Roun Temudan on the day of his son's birth. Temudan was the prince of Hokkan, due to be king until he contracted a strange curse or disease: his limbs slowly turn to lead, bit by bit (he was supposed to die by the age of 20, which is why his younger brother received the throne; but Temudan did not die, so he waits as first in line to the throne). Fearing for his life, Temudan ordered baby Rimudo's death. Rimudo's mother, however, did not want her son to die, and ran away. She gave her son to a man whose family had served hers for generations, telling him to take Rimudo and run. The man, Tauru; and his twelve-year-old son, Soruen, obeyed. Tauru raised Rimudo as would befit a son of the royal family of Hokkan. Rimudo grew to love Tauru and Soruen so much that he thought of them as his real father and brother. However, that happiness was not destined to last long. When Rimudo was nine, his father caught wind of his whereabouts. Temudan sent assassins after his son. Tauru was killed protecting Rimudo; as Rimudo sobbed with grief and fury, the character for "woman" appeared on his chest, and he slashed the attackers to pieces with the use of wind. Rimudo demanded of Soruen why all that had happened. Soruen told him everything, and Rimudo would never again be the happy, cheerful child he had once been. Rimudo blames himself for Tauru's death. His sole goal in life became killing his father, with the help of his foster brother/servant, Soruen. When Rimudo was older, he attacked the palace but failed; a bounty was placed on his head, and he became known as "Fuzaanki Rimudo," or the "Demon Who Cuts with Wind Rimudo." Before he met the priestess, revenge was all Rimudo cared about; he even denies his other fate as a sichiseishi and vows never to use the name "Uruki" in his life. However, since meeting the priestess, Rimudo's loyalties have become divided. Does he stay undercover in the Kutou army in an attempt to reveal his father's conspiracies with the rival country, or does he join the girl he is to fall in love with and has been destined for since before he was born...?

Tomite and his friend Hikitsu became the guardians of the Shinzaho of the Genbu priestess after their deaths.Deadly serious when it comes to his duties to protect the Shinzaho of Genbu, he still retains his holy warrior powers even though he has been dead for two hundred years. It is not clear if he volunteered to guard the Shinzaho or was chosen, but he does take the responsibility very seriously. He tests Miaka's worthiness to possess the Shinzaho by encasing her in ice. When Miaka proves her worth, he escorts her, along with Hikitsu, to the shrine where the Shinzaho is held, though he doesn't say much, and when he does, it is often a practical observation.

He is a timid and chubby youngster of twelve. His parents passed away when he was nine and Hatsui had to face bullies on his own. Due to the abuse, he accidentally unleashed his celestial power for the first time and ended up killing many people. It was to defend himself, he had never meant to harm anyone, so he ran away from his village and secluded himself in the mountains. Sometime later, a woman named Fen discovered him there and befriended him. However, when Takiko and Tomite arrive to search for Hatsui, it is revealed that Fen is an assassin with a mission to kill the Genbu celestial warriors; meaning she never really cared for Hatsui.

He usually takes the appearance of a little stone doll, although when Takiko first found him, he was a stone giant, protecting the oracle Anlu, who was in his mouth. After being traumatized by human cruelty when he attempted to fit in, Namame found it very hard to trust others; it took Anlu a whole day of sitting right next to him to earn his trust. He was "protecting" Anlu when Takiko & Co. found him. Namame was the fourth Celestial Warrior found by the Genbu priestess. His character, "Bi", is typically found on the back of his head. Namame has the power to control the earth, which allows him to manipulate the ground itself, create earthquakes, and shape stones into whatever he desires.

Twenty-one year old Hikitsu is a member the Kan tribe. He has a little sister named Aila and once saved Tomite from being killed by monsters (which also killed Tomite's father) when the two of them were children. He controls water in the form of snakes, but also has another power he called 'Shikyokan', where anyone who looks upon the eye with his Seishi mark is forced to remember their worst memories. He did not, at first, want to be part of the Miko's group as he was guarding his frozen little sister, but after their reunion and a persuasive speech from Tomite, he agrees. He proves to be an invaluable friend and companion over the course of the series. In the main Fushigi Yugi cannon, he and Tomite are seen to be guarding the Shinzaho (Anru's necklace) after they die and are confronted by the Suzaku Seven, as well as several less fortunate people before them. Like Tomite he is serious about his duties to protect the Shinzaho, however unlike Tomite he speaks freely to Miaka and her warriors about the Shinzaho.

Byakko is the white tiger, the guardian of the country of Sairou (Xi-Lang).

She fell in love with her Celestial Warrior Tatara, but they were not allowed to stay together. When they asked Byakko to let them live together, he replied, "That is the one wish which cannot be granted." Suzuno returned to her world to live out the rest of her life. She and Tatara, across time and space, died at the exact same moment and found love in their eternal rest. Their spirits joined again. She is cared for by her grandson Toki Ōsugi, who takes Keisuke and Tetsuya to meet her just before she dies.

The Seven Seishi of Byakko Tatara is the leader of the Seishi of Byakko. He meets Miaka in a dungeon where he has been a long time prisoner of Miboshi, the evil mysterious Seiryuu monk.

He takes it upon himself to look after Miaka when she is captured by Nakago and becomes mute under the influence of Miboshi's spell. He is mortally wounded during a battle with Miboshi, and finally dies, coincidentely, the same time Suzuno Ōsugi, the Priestess of Byakko dies (of old age) in the real world. He and Suzuno are reunited in their eternal rest, as observed by Keisuke and Tetsuya in the anime version.

While traveling in Konan, he came across a young Tamahome. Realizing that the bullied child was a Celestial Warrior, he took it upon himself to train Tamahome so that he could one day protect his priestess. The pair are reunited when the Suzaku Warriors travel to Sairou to find Byakko's Shinzaho, however it is not a happy reunion. Tokaki knew from experience from being a Celestial Warrior himself that a priestess cannot wish to be with one of her Celestial Warriors because after the priestess fufills her duty in the book, she must return to her world. Tokaki, realizing that Tamahome had fallen in love with his priestess, attempts to break them up by pushing his adopted daughter Xi-Fang into a relationship with Tamahome.

Subaru is the wife of Tokaki. The busty, still beautiful, Subaru finds herself having to look after not only her adopted daughter, but her hentai husband as well.

She did not know that Tokaki had told Xi-Fang to seduce Tamahome, and is irritated that he would do such a thing, but is quickly preoccupied with the crises of Tatara and the Shinzaho's abduction from Byakko Temple and Miaka's running off.

Other Characters [Miaka’s Time] Real World Characters

Keisuke Yūki Age: 20 Birthdate: January 20, 1972 Height: 1.8m (5 feet, 9 inches) Bloodtype: B Birthplace: Tokyo Family: Mother and sister, Miaka Hobbies: Computers, Basketball, Reading (history - is an Asian history major in college), Reading pornographic magazines Abilities: Fluent in Chinese Personality: Keisuke is the genuine nice guy. If he and a friend liked the same girl, he would give up the girl for his friend. That said, Keisuke became very protective of his baby sister after their father left. He becomes very concerned after Miaka explains to him about "The Universe of the Four Gods" and warns her to stay away from it. However after she enters the book, he becomes even more concerned and tries to help Miaka with her quest. In the anime he and Miaka are connected through a few strands of her hair that had been caught in the book; in the manga she gives him one of her hair ribbons. His dedication to Miaka is shown throughout the manga and in the OVA series, he tries to encourage Miaka and Taka (Tamahome) to stay together against all costs.

Tetsuya Kajiwara Age: 20 Birthdate: September 21 Bloodtype: B Height: 1.79m (about 5 feet, 9 inches) Hobbies: Cars Personality: Tetsuya is one of Keisuke's friends. When Keisuke first tells him about Miaka and Yui going into "The Universe of the Four Gods" he is skeptical. Eventually he becomes a believer and helps Keisuke discover the true nature of the book. He's smarter and richer (and in his opinion better looking) than Keisuke, but the two are quite the pair. He personally takes on the responsibility of reading the most difficult passages in the book to keep Keisuke from discovering that Miaka had nearly been raped, and instead tells his friend that nothing exciting is happening, rather they are just traveling about. He and Keisuke take turns reading the book to determine what is happening, and through this he comes to fall in love with the tragic figure of Yui. In the real world he expresses his love for her and they eventually start dating and are still together even after Miaka and Taka are married. Miaka's Mom Miaka's mother is a single mother, who divorced her husband when Miaka was a little girl. Miaka clearly remembers how hard it was for Mrs. Yūki to get over her divorce and vows to make her proud at any costs. Extremely hardworking, she only wants what's best for her children, and pushes them to do their best. In the case of Miaka, she pushes her to apply for the prestigious Jonan high school even though Miaka really wants to go to Yotsubadai High School; this leads to tension, and causes Miaka to run away from home at one point in the manga. In the anime she criticizes Miaka for being happy that Yui decides to apply for Jonan as well, saying that if Yui makes it, the chances of Miaka getting in are unlikely. Despite sounding cold, Mrs. Yuki really believes that she's doing her daughter a favor by telling her such harsh truths, wanting to make her work her hardest so she can be the best.

Toki Ōsugi The grandson of Suzuno Ōsugi, priestess of Byakko, he always thought his grandmother's tales of her being a priestess in the Universe of the Four Gods were ludicrous. He took care of his grandmother in her old age. Toki finds out that Keisuke and Tetsuya know about the Universe of the Four Gods and takes them to his grandmother and tells them that his grandmother claimed to have been a priestess of the book. Until the passing away his grandmother, he's always been skeptical of his grandmother's story but realizes its truth when he sees Tatara's and his grandmother's (Suzuno's spirit is shown as how she looked like when she was the young priestess) rejoin again in their love.

Universe of Four gods Characters

Tama [cat] Birthplace: Met Mitsukake in Choukou Family: Mitsukake Interests: Sitting on people's shoulders Special Ability: Mimicry (Especially Miaka, but doesn't resemble her). Koji Age: 19 Title: Leader of the Mt. Reikaku Bandits while Tasuki attends to business. Koji is one of the most popular minor characters in the series. With a completely charming way of knocking on/answering doors, Koji is the only member of the Mt. Reikaku Bandits who doesn't dream of putting a finger on Miaka (or Hotohori and Nuriko, for that matter). He's two years older than Tasuki, and technically had seniority, but Tasuki's special rank as a Suzaku Celestial Warrior ensured the younger bandit the title of leader. Despite an initial dislike of Tasuki when the boy first joined the Mt. Reikaku Bandits, the two grew close and Koji had to admit a grudging respect for the whelp. When Tasuki leaves the bandits in order to fulfill his destiny, Koji takes the leader position, as it was down to either him or Tasuki. During the war between Kotou and Konan, Koji and his bandits offered to give assistance to Konan by agreeing to fight. After peace is restored to Konan, Tasuki returns to Mt. Reikaku and resumes his position as leader from Koji, though it's generally accepted that the pair shares the responsibility.

Hahm Xi-Fang The adopted daughter of Tokaki and Subaru. About the same age as Tamahome, she is told by Tokaki to make Tamahome forget about Miaka. While she and Miaka are talking, she tells Miaka that she thinks that Tamahome treats her (Miaka) like a littler sister. While their relationship did start this way, at this point it was clear that they couple had a strong love. However, deep down she knows that she cannot compete with the love that Miaka and Tamahome have. Nyan-Nyan The childlike goddesses serve Taiitsukun and reside at Mt. Taikyoku with her. They are also known as Lai Lai. They can take the appearance of floating orbs and can appear when commanded. They have healed Miaka and her warriors when it was necessary, also offering to fix Nuriko's perversion (much to his dismay) and Taiitsukun's face (much to her dismay). Their other funcion is to serve as vessels for the spirits of the dead Celestial Warriors, so that they can fight along side their priestess, in which case they take on the appearance of whomever they are inhabited by, and have all of their powers.

Taiitsukun As the creator of "The Universe of the Four Gods", Taiitsukun watches over all. In the manga, she is known as Tai Yi-Jun. Usually appearing as a wrinkled old woman (giving rise to the Sunukake-baba (Sand Witch) nickname), she frightens all of the Suzaku Warriors (usually it would be Tasuki) except Chichiri who claims he's gotten used to her face in the three years he had studied under her. She resides at Mt. Taikyoku, which is very beautiful, but to those with evil in their hearts will see nothing but rocky cliffs. She is aided by the Nyan-Nyans. Her true identity is eventually revealed to be the Jade Emperor.

Other Characters [Takiko’s Time] (Book of Four Gods) Hakei The Crown Prince of Kotou (the land to the east, protected by Seiryu). He is evil, but always hides his intentions with a friendly attitude towards Uruki (in "Taki" form) and is bent on invading Hokkan. Shigi and Hien are under his command. Shigi A beautiful, yet cruel, boy. Always insists that Genbu must absolutely not be summoned. He kills The Oracle, Priestess Anru, Namame's guardian. His weapon resembles a whip, but is made out of what looks like nunchuku. He is constantly wearing a smile on his face (even when he is brutally killing someone) and it not one to be underestimated in battle. Speaks very politely, almost like a woman. In the most recent chapter, Shigi is discovered to have been castrated and tortured when he was younger, thus he has no gender. Hien A violent, hot-tempered man whose arm was cut off by Uruki. Bent on getting revenge for having his arm cut off. Shigi and Hien are commanded by Hakei to take "Taki" (who is actually Uruki's identity when he joins the Kotou army in his man form) and fight with him against the Genbu celestial warriors and priestess. Although Hien does not trust Taki (and later on it is revealed that Shigi did not either), they do not throw him out of the army as Hakei is adamant that he should stay. Boratte Tan/Taan Boraate Tomite's mother. The one who first accepts Takiko as the Genbu priestess followed by the rest of the village. She and the village people, the Ha tribe, might be the only ones who thinks that the coming of the Genbu priestess and the summoning of Genbu is a good thing. Takes an arrow for Takiko when it is shot at her during a raid of the village of the Ha tribe. Aila Chen/Chen Aira Hikitsu's (Chen Emutato) younger sister. Oracle Anlu/Anruu An Oracle protected by Namame. It took her a great deal of time to win his trust as he had been treated very cruelly by other humans when he attempting to fit in. (Real world) Einosuke Okuda Takiko's father is a researcher of folklore who seems more concerned about his most recent discovery, the Book of Four Gods, than he does for his sickly wife and their impetuous daughter. Takiko believes her father does not love her or her mother and deeply regrets that Takiko was born a girl rather than a boy. When his daughter is pulled in the Book of Four Gods, her father reads the book, which allows the story to progress, and gradually comes to realize and understand Takiko's feelings. When she briefly returns to her own world, her father apologizes for regreting that he would have prefered a son over her and confesses that his interest in the book was largely in hopes that a wish from one of the four gods could cure Takiko's mother. Takao Ōsugi Takiko's first love and her father's research assistant. He gently rejects her feelings because he loves his wife, but does seem to care about Takiko in a friendly manner. Takiko seems to be friends with his daughter, Suzuno, who will one day become the Priestess of Byakko. According to the original Fushigi Yuugi, after the deaths of both Takiko and Einosuke, Takao is entrusted the book in hopes that no one should suffer the same fate as Takiko.

Mini-Bio on Watase Yuu Birthdate 5 March BirthplaceOsaka Blood Type B Hobbies Video (SF&Fantasy/Comedies) and music appreciation Watase Yuu, a manga artist for Shoujo Comics, started out her career with Pajama de Ojama. With that success, she worked for Shogakukan's Flower Comics and produced three manga titles in addition to Fushigi Yuugi: Shinshunki Miman Okotowari (Not Welcome Before Puberty), its sequel Zoku Shinshunki Miman Okotowari (Not Welcome Before Puberty Continued), both three volumes, and a two volume manga called Epotoransu! Mai. Watase Yuu has also had a number of collections, Gomen Asobase! (Sorry Gentlemen!), Magical Nan, Otenami Haiken (Let's See You Up Close), Suna no Tiara (Tiara of Sand), and Mint de Kiss Me. She is currently very busy working on other manga titles for Shoujo Comics and perhaps we might see them cross-over to anime one day.

Differences between Genbu Kaiden and the original Fushigi Yūgi In terms of basic storyline, Genbu Kaiden is like Fushigi Yūgi in that Takiko becomes the priestess, has to search for the 7 Celestial warriors, and is trying to summon the god so that she can receive 3 wishes. However, this is where the similarities end. Unlike the priestesses of Suzaku and Seiryu, Takiko and her warriors are hated by the people due to a rumor that they bring impending doom. They have several assassins sent after them, and while Miaka had the luxury of consulting Tai YiJun, Takiko does not, although Tai Yi-Jun has helped them in some tight spots. Furthermore, Takiko is far more aggressive and inclined to fight (armed often with a naginata) than the more naive and optimistic Miaka. Another major aspect of Genbu Kaiden that is largely different from Fushigi Yūgi is the nature of the main couple's relationship. Typical for such a story, Takiko ends up falling in love with the first Celestial Warrior she meets (Rimudo), like Miaka's relationship with Tamahome. One primary difference is that that Takiko and Rimudo take longer in developing feelings for one another, allowing for a more mature relationship to form by the time they admit their feelings for one another in the 5th volume, though before that there was a great deal of tension and obvious attraction towards each other. Miaka confessed her love for Tamahome at the end of book one, though he rejected her because of his obligation to his brothers and sisters. As even Yū Watase herself admits, the handling of the material in Genbu Kaiden is inevitably much more mature than in the original Fushigi Yūgi. Whereas the original had begun more like a romantic comedy, Genbu Kaiden remains largely a fantasy adventure with the romance more subtle-keyed below the emotional struggles of its main characters. Her art style has also matured since Fushigi Yūgi to become appropriately expressive in tense scenarios. The eventual conclusion of Genbu Kaiden will likely follow the one given in the original Fushigi Yūgi, of which fans of the original will know Takiko's fate will differ greatly from Miaka Yūki and Yui Hongo, the Priestesses of Suzaku and Seiryū respectively. It is expected that Takiko will be murdered by her own father to prevent her from being consumed by Genbu.
